you better not be using those broken twin GreatSwords

LoL... I don't have the Strength nor the Vitality for them.

Been sticking with the Cathedral Knight Greatsword.... atleast until I can find me some Large Shards for my Spiked Mace... luckily I'm only one Boss Away from Farron's Keep.

They’re increasing the invasion count to 6 players, and there’s rumors about cut content actually being put into the game.

Hmm I might be willing to give souls a second shot, it really depends what they mean by "remastered" is it the same game just on PS4/60fps or is it like a full from the ground up "remaster" (remake)?

If its the first I'll probably pass but, if its a remake then I might be willing to give it a shot...

I heard they tossed out the old enfine and are using the Same engine used to make Dark Souls 3... beyond that I don't really know.

Who's ready to touch their inner Masochist again ?

To me there is no masochism when playing dark souls, to me they are just really fun action rpgs.

About Dark Souls Remastered, we know it is going to use the ds3 engine, which is cool, i wonder if that will imply any mechanics change, i like how ds3 is mechanically, so i don't mind this much, but there is some stuff from ds1 that i think should be brought back as well.

Theres no shame in Masochism... I won't judge you ;)

Or they can do one better and copy the Mechanics of a game thats actually well designed. Theres a long list of Candidates to choose from.

Just because you fail to understand the design of a game or don't like it, it doesn't mean it is wrong. Also, copying mechanics of other games is something not cool in most cases as well, it would be a different game in general.

at first i was super excited to replay my original DS1 archer.

Then I heard that its using the DS3 engine and may have changes to mechanics.

Then I remembered how totally stupid and unbalanced DS3 combat was, specifically how they were trying to make Bloodborne 2 instead of dark souls 3, and how Archery got nerfed into the ground in ds3.

I'm thinking here about this, the fact that it will use ds3's engine doesn't mean it will have ds3 mechanics.

Stuff like damage, hitboxes, and how stats affect your character can all be changed. A change in engine do directly imply that the game will be visually different, and probably have different physics in general.

For all we know, DS1 remaster could have a completely different balance than either ds3 or ds1, it could be just ds3 mechanically, we don't know it yet.

LMAO Dark Souls inspired so many games calling it not well designed is a bit ignorant.

So did mobile games with their pay to win strategies.... Inspiration works both ways, buddy. I've actually run into some Dark Souls inspired mechanics... most recently in Far Cry Primal, haven't decided yet if it works thers just yet, theres too many factors to consider.

Just because you fail to understand the design of a game or don't like it, it doesn't mean it is wrong.

It doesn't mean I'm not right either.... infact it doesn't mean anything. Speaking of Understanding... Dark Souls fans have an entirely different viewpoint of design than regular people do... hence where the Masochism comment came from.

Also, copying mechanics of other games is something not cool in most cases as well, it would be a different game in general.

Yeah some people prefer something Unique more than they prefer something good.... this phenomenon is mostly seen among professional game reviewers... and it make sense. After playing so many similar games the whole experience just blurs together... then when one completely different game comes along it gets praised solely on being unique...all other factors be damned.

well, no.

What Dark Souls brought to the table was more the currency/exp hybrid system, and the story being presented through investigation and discovery rather than being upfront with cutscenes. (and even that goes as far back as MIST.)

Anything else is mostly just kids being unaware of how older games used to play, because Dark Souls is more of a throwback to that era than anything else. It is VERY retro, mechanically.

The hardest part of DS is just getting used to the blatantly bad mechanics and controls, which is same mentality behind Resident Evil games, where the entire "horror" aspect comes from the tank controls preventing you from responding properly to threats.

I mean like in DS1, you had to triple tap a button just to jump. They got rid of that in DS2 and DS3, for a more dedicated jump button, thankfully.

Have I ever mentioned I've never beaten the Original Super Brothers... I kept losing all my lives at World 3. I sucked hard at games when I was young. :( Speaking Of Which is it just me or does Cuphead feel alot like Contra ?

I think this is the key to figuring out exactly what's the big deal about this series... afterall many games wind up copyig the Dark Souls surface elements expecting it to have the same results, and it usually doesn't... even Mathewmatosis admitted the souls game's mechanics are exceedingly simplistic and conflict with the combat encounters sometimes.

The actual appeal of the series is how it uses its mechanics to prop up the Lore and Narrative.... its Cohesive.

Its why I would say Dark Souls is great "Experience", but its not necessarily a good game.

And that is where you are wrong as well, i am one of the many people that enjoy what dark souls is mechanically. Yeah, it is not a deep system by any means, but it is a fun, contained and varied system that allows for many different and fun builds that change how you play the game completely and allow you to approach situations in many ways.

The controls work for that, the stamina system, the stats, the upgrade paths, is just so nice.
