Just to get something off my chest here, when I see comments like "I only play DOA for the boobs and women. If I wanted to play a real fighting game, I'd play Tekken or (insert game of choice)" and "DOA has nothing to offer since they're toning down the sexiness", it actually makes me angry. Like, not just angry personally, but angry for the people making the game. I'd be the first to say that the reputation that DOA has gotten is 80 or 90-ish% the fault of the development and marketing choices they made, so they reap what they sow. But, DOA has quite a few cool things going for it, especially when it comes to spectacle and gameplay.

Ya, but the other fighting games are literally just as bad. Just look at SFV DLC. It is kind of annoying that DoA got stuck with the stigma when other fighters are equally and sometimes worse.

Well then we got nothing much to talk about.

Yeah, age ratings exist for a reason along with content that caters to people who are teen & adult age which makes videogames become more than Atari & classic Nintendo days. Part of the stuff you posted I honestly don't belive you love DOA, and would want something similar in gameplay just with a new name. What gets you to decide what doesn't belong in fighting games? Fighting games are videogames, over the top sex appeal has its place in videogames, anime, manga, comics, TV, movies. My god your prudish.

DOAX is part of the DOA brand which created the label as "pervert" game, TN could've done themselves the favor and not make DOA6 as the "cool & mature (in a non sexual way)" game, and let DOA6 been the ecchi fighting game while a new title takes its place to appeal to the western crowd. DOA5 had such a huge set of DLC content from 2012-2017, and grew 10 million downloads. DOA6 could've just keep its content and make some improvements to make it better than the previous.

@Martin @Barrogh

Who honestly knows if they'll keep sex appeal in tact, based on IGN & Famitsu doesn't really help the matters along with DOAX3 Asia only release, Berserks Wet Casca DLC only in JPN release as playable costume, Blue Reflection Model Viewer in Japanese release (free camera movement being able to see their panties), DOAX Venus Vactation Japan only, and DOA5 Mobile censored costumes. So far I'd have a better chance seeing My content again if I decided to boycott DOA6 maybe see a spiritual successor of a new game that has the content DOA use to have (similar to Mighty No. 9 for Mega Man), or if Team Ninja took a stepback due to the complaints.

@HHH816

Assuming DOA6 will get different versions in each region, which I see very less likely to happen.

Which being televised is something I wish never happen for SFV and DOA6 unless broadcast are willing to show what the game's content has. I wish videogames weren't mainstream at all, and only cater to niche. For Me I enter DOA tournaments to give the series I love & care about support, maybe hope DOA can remain with its sex appeal and be a game worth playing. If Team Ninja wanted to move away from it, I would've prefer if they didn't make DOA6 considering the past games to DOA5 DLC support.

Being old should be the least of concerns, it should be how much you even care about what I prefer from the DOA series. I want you to go to read My previous comment located in Page 15, comment #284, Today (6/9) at 4:03 AM there you'll find My reason. What is DOA to you? To Me DOA is the game series that plays similar to VF with counter mechanics, with multi-tier stages, stage hazards, beautiful/cute/sexy looking female characters, outfits from full clothed to skimpy, with optional breast physics, with changing colors of bras & panties, characters with their unique stories, and story mode with more focus on ninjas plus Helena.

If I wanted a fighting game with a serious approach, not have over the top costumes, and boobs all up in your face I wouldn't even be playing DOA at all and not waste My life with Me supporting or spending money on DOA in the first place. I love playing games with skimpy girls, with plenty of risque content, along with a game that is fun to play. DOA6 to Me is like Ninja Gaiden 3 with less blood and decapitations, its like Mortal Kombat with less gore, no X-Rays, and toned down fatalities. At best DOA6 is a disappointment, at worst I wish they made a different game along with make DOA Japan & Asia exclusive. I just don't like stuff that appeals to Me being toned down just to cater a markent that didn't like that content in the first place, and I hope you get a good read from comment #284.

PS. Yes Kasumi does look amazing
I do love DOA. If I didn’t, I wouldn’t even join this forum, or play the game for 5 years. I don’t mind the girls wearing skimpy clothing and all, but the DOA community won’t grow that way. People won’t take it seriously because it’s a “titty fighter” to them. Most of the people who did join this community looks past it, but there are always some people who can’t look past it and don’t take it seriously. DOA6 might be a main stage tournament this time around because they focus more on fighting instead of fan service.

The DOAX series are made for fan service, Itagaki made that game so it caters to people like you (the perverts). I’m not calling the people who play it perverts, but most are. I personally love the X series but that’s because it’s a relaxing game that you don’t have to take seriously.

The DOA girls can be sexy without skimpy clothing, I mean look at Kokoro in her C1 she is really beautiful and sexy without wearing skimpy clothing. If tits and skimpy clothing are the only reasons you play this game and are a part of this community, then you should just leave and play some hentai games.

Also, I’m not a prude because I don’t like to see 18 year old girls in skimpy clothing in a fighting game. If I want to look at girls in skimpy clothing i’ll go to a strip club or watch porn.

are you talking about the part where they started sticking age into every character's profile? i thought it's done to appease extra-chromosomed people who are concerned about how old a bunch of pixels on the screen should be

Actually, I mean the easter egg where if you turn the age to 99 in DOA2, you get the OMG level breast physics. I highly doubt it was something they advertise and you had to find it out on your own.

If I were in their position and wanted to alter the direction slightly because of x/y/z reasons, and people came at me with "Your game is worth nothing without the boobs", I'd have a strong urge to just say "Bye, Felicia." I'd be hella insulted. Because...really? You're going to be that shallow about it? DOA isn't a "real" fighting game? What if they want it to be a "real" fighting game? Are they not allowed? People aren't even going to give the damn thing a chance? I hate to bring out the "you were never a real fan card" but...

I'm just sick of the knee-jerk bullshit that happens on the internet all the time. The devs specifically said that it's not like they're not removing all sex appeal from the game and still people are whining about burkas and SJWs and censorship and all sorts of nonsense. Can people just wait to see more before completely writing the game off? Can people reserve judgment a tad? I know it's too much to ask of the internet. But, it's so tiring. And it's all so ridiculous that any perceived inch of clothing coverage is a loss in some stupid war against "SJWs" and any inch of skin showing is a fuck you to "SJWs". How are people just so amped up about this stuff all the time? Like, damn.

Werewolf has it right. People have become so obsessed with this 'free speech', 'SJW' stuff that they themselves have become a force that attacks developer choice; I.E. the very thing they claim to defend. That's because they don't even recognize the possibility of a developer making a choice to reduce sexualisation, show less skin or whatever. The worldview that makes this 'SJW' strawman up is so totalising that any choice in this direction is not recognized at all; it must be the 'SJWs', because they seem to find the idea of a developer wanting to do this totally inconceivable...

It's easy to say you support 'developer choice' when you only recognize choices in the direction you want in the first place. In this case though it's even more bizarre. TN is a Japanese company first and foremost. At other times, these people praise Japan for not having these movements. But now, it has to be strong enough to force TN to do this; even though the fact that they already tried to in 5 and stopped for profit reasons alone pretty much proves that they want to be more 'respectable' but are restricted by A: the unfortunate fact that sex sells, and B: weird fundamentalists like this.

I didn't want to make my first large post about this culture war nonsense, but like so many games today, we can't even seem to get a launch announcement and a teaser trailer before the bells start ringing for it. Well, I think the whole thing is stupid anyway; because regardless of what fearmongerers might say, there will still be fanservice anyway. Well, that's my opinion anyway.

Absolutely rare time I actually agree with Werewolf. I feel like the issue has become so ridiculous, that people are becoming the very thing they claim to fight against but in the opposite direction. It honestly reminds me of the alt-right becoming a far bigger menace because of the far left's rise through the past couple of years beginning to rub people the wrong way.

You end up having people who want to be heroes who don't realize they are becoming the very villains they act against. It doesn't help IGN basically gave them a loaded question and considering how hard Team Ninja and DOA gets dumped on by the media, Shimbori was most likely just playing along with the question and people just blew it well beyond out of proportion.

It's honestly disheartening because you can practically tell that most of these people was not actually fans(or at the very least, not realizing how close they are to becoming Anti-SJWs...and not realize it just makes them vice versa) because they aren't even trying to give it a chance or even see the very point of it.

Ya, but the other fighting games are literally just as bad. Just look at SFV DLC. It is kind of annoying that DoA got stuck with the stigma when other fighters are equally and sometimes worse.

Absolutely, I'm honestly tired of saying this but I'm getting tired of the massive levels of hypocrisy from every other FGC and even from the DOA fans that honestly don't realize that many other fighting games have the same level of fanservice.
It's honestly annoying as hell and equally as pathetic.

The trailer itself already showed fan service... Helena literally has s cleavage window and every other shot has her skirt riding up showing pantsu.

And Kasumi is literally wearing a skintight latex body suit with heels and everything, so why are people acting like they're in fully covered robes?
It's mature and not tasteless fapbait as long as it caters to my fetishes :^)

And surely people can't be dumb enough to think the reason the series wasn't "taken seriously" was because of the fanservice, can they? Literally every other successful fighting game on the market revels in it. Even VF5's DLC catalogue is 90% fetish costumes.

Not only did both TN and the ignorant masses tunnel vision on the wrong area, they even proceeded to completely fuck up the aspect they're supposed to address. Big hint, it's a word that starts with "game" and ends with "play". If your game took more than one and a half brain cells to play, it would've been taken seriously. Too bad it looks like even that requirement is now cut in half ¯._(ツ)_.¯

Well it turns out people saying "they have the girls wearing hooded robes now!" are actually mistaking hayate for a girl...

I have no idea what people are talking about when they are whining about no sexualization in the game anymore... First of all Team Ninja did not actually say that they will ban any sexualization, they just don't want it as exaggerated as before...at least at first. ;)
Secondly, have they actually looked at Kasumi and Helena? XD
Kasumi's skin-tight suit with deliberately placed tiny armor patches accentuating the female body is already sexualized.
Same goes for Helena, she's clothed just as revealing as before. There's the obligatory boob window, which the costume didn't really need, and you constantly see her thighs and butt exposed during the fight.
I think even @Project Bokuho is very pleased, lol.

Well, regardless KT & TN seem to really want to make this the e-sports version of the series. I suspect it is to differentiate itself from DOA5 since they are on the same console.

I'm fairly convinced by toning down sexualization they just mean they won't release Gravures, every fetish costume in the world and 12 bikini dlc sets like in DOA5 they went way overboard with that stuff in DOA5 where it eventually just became a DOAX fighting game.

From what I can tell a good chunk of the people complaining never played a DoA game and just have a stereotyped version in their heads, where every outfit was just enough fabric to avoid an AO rating and the boobs bounced up to the chins with every step. So even though these outfits are perfectly fine for DoA standards (for default outfits anyway), non-players seem to think it's a huge change in direction…

Doesn't help that the statement for IGN was poorly framed and the Famitsu interview didn't really help either (especially since no one paid any attention to the “we are not getting rid of the pretty girls” part)

Well, and since it's the internet no one reads past the headlines you can have a discussion about a complete lack of sexy outfits in the comments of an article featuring Helena's cleavage in the banner, like over at DualShockers

Framing is important and TN kinda failed… again.

There also seems to be the odd person that apparently just bought LR to then spend even more money on the gravure scenes… whatever floats your boat I guess lol

You have no idea how many people actually do believe Hayate is a girl from that trailer.

"But Tyaren" In the whiniest voice I can muster, "We can't let the SJWs even take a mile, let alone see what the developers are talking about."

But no seriously, it's just ridiculous that this is still a thing. Very little info, loaded interview and people lose their shit even though it's still obviously in the trailer.

But hey, people will complain about ANYTHING...that or they are so damn stupid, they think the defaults of the DOA characters is string bikinis or something...

I don't think it's that serious, I mean come on. If IM not complaining about Kasumi being fully clothed I don't think it's that serious for people to scream SJW all the time, the game was just shown and it is a Japanese developed game so I'm sure they'll still sex it up albeit in a more refined way.

That one Shimbori commentary video even hinted that older outfits would possibly even return too, so I don't see why people on Twitter are spamming saying "DOA is censored" when that is not even the case, all of the cast hasn't even been shown yet and im sure Nyo and Tina and Lisa(If she's even alive) won't be covered up.

Re: People whining that "Team Ninja is catering to le sjws"

They just want something to whine about and be outraged at. These kind of gamers are always looking for the next shitstorm, be it for their own political agenda or for falseflagging, shitposting, etc..
DOA IS RUINED FOREVER PEOPLEZ!!!! They say, without even a bit of thought and reason in what they write.
You just need a pair of eyes to see that Kasumi and Helena are still wearing sexy and pretty outfits, as usual.

The girls and the sexiness are here to stay, or else why would there be that gacha DOAX game getting new chicks at every turn?
But since ppl just want to throw a shit fit and make shitty strawman memes, Venus Vacation suddenly stopped existing in their own world.
Whew.

Right. Can people please stop this? Like seriously, all this tension is not needed, save it for your first night alone with the girl of your dreams. All this extra ranting about SJW bs is so 2016....

TN announces that the game is gonna focus less on sex appeal and every pervert is whining about it. They shouldn’t worry, even if TN is focusing less on sex appeal they can still masturbate to the panty shots in the upcoming ryona videos these perverts create when 6 is here.

@KasumiLover69 Either that guy is a bot/troll account or incredibly inactive, or has been deleting his past tweets. Tweet in 2016... then next tweet 2018. Then tweet before that is another large gap of 6 years.

Either way, people like him are incredibly stupid and act before they think or wait for information to come out. It's the same on almost all social media platforms. Got all these Anti-sjws unironically acting like sjws.

---

I personally don't care if they don't tone down the fan service. It's not why I play DoA.

What are you talking about?? I only have one Twitter account, @Maso_Prince.... You must mean someone else because I'm completely unbothered by this SJW stuff and am far from stupid

I think the game is fine, just because its toned down doesn't mean its suddenly all prude. Kasumi's suit and Helena's cultural appropriation Chinese dress are still sexualized, just more maturely and more practically. The guys if anything are the sexualized ones, Jann Lee and Zack are more muscular than ever before and are full on shirtless, and The girls seem as busty amd curvy as they were in DOA5.
