IGN gives Ninja Gaiden 3 a 3.0/10.... Ironic, but fitting.

IGN PS3 Review

Okay. For all my hardcore Ninja Gaiden fans out there, I know you had fears and doubts about this release just as I did.
And boy were we right to have them.
I literally could not bear playing that decroded* piece of crap for more than 7 minutes.
To top it all off, after leaving that so called "Hard" difficulty campaign, easily beatable by merely mashing X and Y randomly (regardless of button prompt; no blocking required), my Online Pass came up invalid. So I couldn't even try that bland looking multiplayer.

At least I got the premium DOA5a demo to ease my suffering... Ninja Gaiden Black, Ninja Gaiden 2. Anything but that abomination.

Yes. Its THAT bad. I promise.
Two free downloadable weapons will not save this game.

*First coined in Napoleon Dynamite.

The IGN review is a piece of shit, but one thing is true, NG3 is no longer a NG game, they removed almost everything that make a NG game a NG game. Let's hope they can do right with DOA5.

The reviewers shouldn't be fully trusted. They're just casual gamers just paid to play one game after another. They don't play Ninja Gaiden for what it truely is. Its difficulty. Master Ninja and Ultimate Ninja aren't going to be touched by them. They could have missed alot of additional stuff that's in the harder difficulties.

Also Ninja Gaiden 3 wasn't supposed to be like the other two games anyway. It never was. So while I'll miss how to previous two games played I do welcome the new change. There's some games out there that never change no matter how good they are and yet people will complain about it.

Definitly looking forward to playing NG3 later today.

Everyone thinks IGN is paid garbage when they give a game a good score. Then when they give a game a bad score, they are suddenly the most trusted and final arbiters of videogame quality. The sky is falling, you guys.

I don't know what was up with that reviewer but they definitely didn't score it correctly. Most of the reviews range from 5 - 8.

Reviewers in generally are terrible, not just IGN. Judge the game for yourself not for what some idiot journalist thinks.

I preordered the game for the DOA5 demo.

I read all of the previews on ign, 1up and gamespot. I watched as much video as I could on it as well.

With all of that information plus the reviews I've read I decided to not unwrap the game and returned it as soon as I got finished downloading the demo.

I may rent it at a later date but its returned and I picked up Deus Ex HR, Crysis 2 and a case of Kirin Ichiban Beer and still had 15 bucks and the DOA5 demo left over - after that Mass Effect 3 shit, I'm not letting another fucking developer get over on me.

P.S: DLC weapons? Blow me.

I considered this, however I already own EVERY VERSION of Ninja Gaiden including pre Xbox. I'm not ready to open it since I have other games to play right now, but I don't think I'll get rid of it.

Its not even worth a rental. I promise you.
If you do decide to get it anyway, don't try to compare to the previous titles. At all. Maybe you'll give it a 5.

This review was way too harsh. The commentator is also boring as hell to listen to.
It is a little harsh, but from the perspective of a true veteran and hardcore fan of the series, this review suffices.

I couldn't be more disappointed by the sluggish, button masher- friendly gameplay they incorporated. It feels like a game from twelve years ago.

The cut-through-bone, zoom-in, quick time events get annoying fast when you're used to cutting enemies down with quick and skillful combos. The game is far too easy. There's not even a penalty for hitting the wrong QTE button prompt during an event! Just take your time mashing any ol' button til you get the right one. And who doesn't miss the choice in weaponry and upgrades? This game as a sequel just doesn't make sense. A true step backward.
Hell, a leap.

NG2 was terrible.

And this game is better?
What of the original or Ninja Gaiden Black?
What exactly is there to like about this game? The gimmicky QTE adopted from series like Resident Evil & God of War? The ability to use one weapon throughout the entire game? (post DLC)
You must be trolling lol

I'm not much of a review reading type of guy in general. Reviews usually spoil games for me in the aspects of surprises. Like new enemies, boss fights, or even plot twists.

But I had serious doubts about NG3 and decided to search news on the title before its release. I read IGN's review via google search, then I got the game at 12am upon release.

The game is bad. A "gash" in the face of a great series. Regardless if people don't believe IGN's reviews or not, I'm saying it as a standalone player from experience.
