I would first like to apologize as there will likely be more than two parts to this. With that being said, here is the 2nd part to Rig vs Hwoarang. The combos were a bit of a chore to do as I'm still learning Hwoarang and I'm dusting off my Rig. I hope with this, people learn of how different DOA is in terms of combo game, compared to tekken. Heck it's so different I was only able to do one parry combo as Tekken has many offensive options that leads to a combo. I also hope people can appreciate both characters as they're both not easy to use. Part 3 will be coming up and we'll look into the environment and how both characters implement it. Hope you enjoy.
Here are my opinions on both:
Rig:
Strengths:
A lot of great combo potential
Some good + frame strings that can keep opponents on the defensive end
Underrated as a defender as he has some good range that can keep opponents away
Can really excel in certain locations
Cons:
A good amount of his + frames are highs so that can be crushed
Has no defensive options from bending stance
Not the best under pressure
Pretty execution heavy
Hwoarang:
Strengths:
Some great damage output
A lot of great combo potential
Some great + frame traps
Safe Rage Art
3 Rage drives that can be used in different ways
Cons
Punish game is relatively weak (Kinda has to live off whiff punishing)
Not great under pressure
Some of his + frames are highs which can be crushed
Very execution heavy
One of the hardest characters to pick up
