This Is How You Punish Ayane Part 1 Redux (2014-02-17)

It's not that. Hakkyoku. Hajin's not talking about a philosophical question, and he gets the Sirlin-esque play-to-win mentality.

Punishment in DOA is by throws, generally speaking. (You do a good job of this on the lows!). The vast majority of strikes after another move isn't punishment per se; they're reads. So when talking about punishing a character, it's just a completely different terminology.

That might sound overbearing, but in high level DOA play, that kind of stuff is often important, and it's worth understanding when talking about playstyles and all that. (Including why very good players often don't punish all together, and so on and so forth)
Alright IHajinShinobi, what is your definition of a "Bad Player"? Someone who mashes buttons? Someone who turtles? Someone who repeats the same Guaranteed Combo? Or is it someone whose fighting style is so crude that you cannot fathom a sense foresight as to what their next move will be?

Either way, that's not being a "Bad Player" its "How They Fight". If it works, why not keep doing it? You want to win right? But if you want to bring in self-serving principle and virtues, go right ahead. You have your way of fighting and they have theirs. At the end of all, principle and virtue does not win the fight, your fists do. Two people stand, One will fall, The Winner and The Loser, However Victory comes in more than one form.

As I said before, I am only showing how to punish The Basics I.E. what everybody does. Of course there are more advance punishes but I won't show them for two reasons.

1.Some people have trouble with these moves. Its better to give someone a fighting chance than to sit idle and watch them suffer
2.All is fair in Love and War. No is no such thing as "cheap" or "overpowered". If you get hit by a move, do your best to study it and counter(Not Hold) it efficiently. And If you have to, find someone willing to teach and help you understand. because that's how you get better, one way or another.
@Lion: Actually, no, I'm not enlightened, at all for that matter. Because I don't see thorough punishment in these videos at all. Here's exactly what I see; I see an Akira player just playing very bad players, and punishing the obvious of strings.

Here's a tip for you: if you want these "How to punish said character" videos to be more contextual, make them as demonstrations. Find said player of a certain, and demonstrate what common and sometimes overlooked single strikes and strings are punishable.

Think about that, because uploading videos vying terrible play is not a sound example for things like these.
i totally agree with Lion here. As a novice i tend to freeze when i see an ayane player jumping over me.
Sure the title is misleading but it's a teasing nothing more.
Just reading the match up is not enought to understand. I need text and video. Here and there in this video i learn how to do an elbow hit after a jump. After seeing this video , last night i went to the labs and test a few combo with my kokoro to counter some ayane attack.

We shouldn't shut down willing contributors to post teaching video. There are Too few of them. But i understand that the title is confusing.
Yes. And I know this is silly. But where is the altruism in revealing all of a character's weaknesses? I'm making these "Hot To Punish" videos to show the most "Useful" punishes instead of "every". Too long have players complained about "Too Hard" "Cheap" and "Overpowered" characters, when their weaknesses are as visible as the clouds in the sky.

Question:"Why is the player falling for it?"
Answer:Because they don't know how to stop and/or block it.

There is literally no reason to show how to punish everything. One reason being, that nobody will understand it all. I'm only making these punish videos because there is a lot of players out there who are ignorant as to what Frame Anatomy is. People who cannot read Frame Data and/or understand it resort to online video footage in order to comprehend Frame Anatomy's advantages to the best of their abilities. But even that is not enough. There is so much to learn, even after understanding the basics of frame data. So why not so the simpler punishes?

lastly, this is stuff everybody does. From Novice to Expert, everybody resorts to Basic Tactics first, Advance Tactics second, and Original Tactics last or when the prior two fail. Basic tactic with Ayane: hit and run, hit the opponent, get outside their range. Advance tactic: maneuver via jump-overs and spin/roll cancels then, combo on said confused opponent. If I showed how to punish everything, it would make the character redundant and too easy to beat. My point is, it may be silly to you, a seasoned DOA Fighter, but for those who are up-and-coming players who are aiming for the top, this is vital. So, now are you enlightened, IHajinShinobi?
Have you even seen or played a competent Ayane player? That was just silliness, I assure you.
You didn't prove anything other than the fact that you played very bad Ayane play (which is obvious to anyone). These videos are about "How to punish" a certain character, when you're still actually missing a lot of punishment, lol. You didn't even i7 throw the BT PPPP string Requiem pointed out to you.
Going all out versus Ayane offensively does not mean you will surely beat the character, nor will it shut her down. What multitude of unsafe attacks does Ayane have at range that she cannot inch her way in with? Please, enlighten me.
TBH Hajin, if the Ayane player has solid defense and offense, there isn't really a surefire way to fight her. But I've found that if you're going to go offensive on Ayane, you're gunna have to go all out and not give her any room to breathe. As for the turtling strategy, this is to take advantage of Ayane's multitude of unsafe attacks and to protect your self from being baited into whiffing something unsafe. This will reduce the match to a game of who can play more patiently and safely. What's your primary strategy for fighting Ayane?
@Force of Nature: Second suggestion of fighting Ayane is untrue. Rushing her down is not the answer. If your defense is lacking, sure. But otherwise, no. To the first suggestion, that doesn't necessarily hurt her either. You just have to inch your way in and make opponent's whiff, then you take advantage.
Lol Lion, that Ayane's play hurts my eyes. They're so bad. xD
Yeah, that's not exactly the greatest Ayane I've ever seen. (Notably, that BT punch string you blocked at the start of round 2 is completely 7-frame-able, BTW)
Allow me to enlighten you, Requiem. A fought an "S" rank who, at the time, thought that his Ayane was unstoppable .So, I picked Akira and punished him as many times as I could. Halfway through, I got bored of the same song and dance so I ended it with the Dragon Lance
I'm not totally sure what the heck I just watched...
In a fight I am wiling to give someone the chance to realize their mistake before proceeding. Knowing is half the battle
Lol, I love how I can watch any random Ayane and they think that 6K2K~PK~CB is, like, the best shit ever (sadly online it hits way more often than it should). Also, WTF at 1:04...? Pretty much to fight Ayane, there are essentially 2 main ways to combat her you either should turtle her and force her to take risks, or rush her down relentlessly. Fortunately most online Ayanes tend to play stupidly anyway.
