I'm relatively new to fighting games. While I've played several over the years, I never really took a liking to them until early in 2012, though I've regularly played DOA4 since the summer of 2010. I still only play a few fighters though, so I really need to broaden my horizons and jump into more franchises. Of the few series that I currently play, Dead or Alive is the one that I enjoy the most. Sadly, Dead or Alive 4 was my first entry into this series, so I missed out on the glory days of DOA2 and DOA3.
With the release of DOA5, I decided to try to better learn the depth of fighting games and play at a more competitive level than I did previously. I'm not very good, but I'm learning and slowly improving. Unfortunately, I don't know anyone offline who plays fighting games and so I have to resort to playing online. I'd love to compete in offline tournaments to play with better players and improve, as well as to be able to hang out and chat with fellow DOA fans. Sadly, there is no DOA scene here in central Florida and I can't currently afford to travel for tournaments.
My main character in DOA is Gohyakumine Bankotsubo, better known as simply "Tengu". I am without a doubt the biggest Tengu fan you'll ever come across. Omitting the master of Tengu-do from DOA5 was completely unjustified and forced me to have to find a new character to main, which I struggled greatly with, as I simply failed to click with just about the entire cast. After many discouraging months and almost giving up on the game, I finally began to play decently with Bayman and settled on him. Still, I can't tell you how excited I'd be to see Tengu return in DOA5 or DOA6. He'll always be my true main, but until he returns, it looks like I'm a Bayman player now.
As for non-fighting games, I mainly prefer singleplayer games, particularly western RPGs with immersive universes and wonderful, imaginative stories. The works of BioWare prior to their turn to mediocrity in 2010 would all be great examples. My favorite game of all-time would be Bethesda's 2002 masterpiece; The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind.Interact
