    Remember when fighting games got sequels in a decent time frame, as opposed to being bare-bones to milk the player dry for years on end?

    DOA5 has only been out 4 and a half years if that.

    I'd rather a sequel take 5+ years and be brand new entirely than the same as the previous game with a different roster

    Yeah, and it was at a time when the fighting game community was a lot smaller than it is now. I actually don't mind the "Free-to-Play" distribution method that games like Killer Instinct 3 and Dead or Alive 5: Last Round employ because it gets more people into the game. DOA4 was also a piece of shit that the community had to tolerate for almost 7 years. On the other hand, SFV was a mistake.

    Furthermore DOA5 is the best thing to happen to DOA in a long while with regards to growing the competitive community for it with the continuous patch & content support. If Itagaki was still running the show, any subsequent DOA's after DOA4 would still be a scrubby piece of shit.

    I want to say SCVI, but SCV didn't exactly leave a good impression with how it was handled. Then there was Lost Swords which was another mess. Wouldn't be surprised if DoA6 somehow happens first since Bamco can just do Tekkens/SFxTekkens/Pokkens instead.

    DOA6 won't be for quite a long time. SCVI has a higher probable resulting factor.
