i still say they should bring back the SC4 guests as real characters like Kamikirmusi, that dual katana chick, Ashlotte, and Scherezade.

Obviously not angol fear though

Maybe bring back stuff like owl head and revenant as well.

They have fugly designs, useless movesets and generally contribute nothing of value except pandering to a handful of hipsters.

that goes for over half the regular SC cast as well though

movesets i give you though but deviating movesets are how we wound up with new characters before as well. sophitia, cassandra, kilik seung mi-na, Nightmare and his human half i forget his name, raphael and amy, rock and astaroth, etc

I'm generally unsympathetic to arguments that devolve to "lackluster shit is okay because there's even more lackluster shit." It's predicated on the assumption that I'm positively disposed to the other lackluster shit when I rarely am.

New stuff.

https://gematsu.com/2017/12/soulcal...asizes-enjoyment-sword-fighting-single-button
  • The most significant evolution is the introduction of the “Reversal Edge” system, which is an attack that integrates offense and defense to defend against almost all techniques with a single button, regardless of whether they are high, middle, or low. By mastering this, even beginners can can read the moves of advanced players.
  • The game will emphasize how you can enjoy the fun of sword fighting with a single button. They are also fixating on production.
  • Critical Edges are also being prepared. While their command inputs were difficult in Soulcalibur V, they can be activated with a single button in Soulcalibur VI.
  • There is a system called “Soul Charge,” which is paired with the Critical Edge system. You can power-up for a certain time by expending the gauge. Soul Charge-exclusive techniques are also being prepared.
  • A “Lethal Hit” system is being prepared for advanced players. By landing specific techniques with certain conditions fulfilled, you can perform powerful combos depicted through special production and slow motion. By doing this you can destroy your opponent’s equipment.
  • If Mitsurugi’s lower body equipment is destroyed, he will essentially only be wearing a loincloth. If Sophitia’s hair accessories are destroyed, her hairdo will change.
  • Guard Impacts can be used without depleting the gauge.
  • We also want to offer a tutorial mode.
  • We feel that character creation is an attraction that cannot be removed from the series. We cannot say anymore, but please look forward to it.
  • Development is 70 percent complete.

LOL... Oh my, the bolded stuff are gunna piss off veterans of the series. Sounds like Namco is trying to Tekken-7-fy SCVI. One button supers? Yeah because 1-button Rage Arts really added to Tekken 7's gameplay depth amrite? The Reversal Edge sounds more and more unappealing the more I hear about it. At least they'll look cool like the Critical Edges.

However props to making GI's meterless and attempting a tutorial, something that *coughstekken7coughs* doesn't value. I also look forward to the character creation mode because they would have to deliberately go out of their way to make it worse than Tekken 7's customization mode.

I gotta agree with Brute, it's a good thing you don't work for Namco or produce any fighting games in general. Why do people care about the SC4 guests so much? They just feel like CaS characters inspired by anime, weeaboo designs.

Furthermore did you really forget Shura's name? It was the easiest to remember. Also, please don't tell me you forgot Seigfried's name (unless you're thinking of someone else). That's a big SoulCalibur fail right there.

well in my case, I like Kamikirimusi because she's the kinda archetype that i like (short haired rough girl). It also helps that her weapon is more suited to Nightmares fighting style than the actual blade he uses, so that's a nice touch.

Ashlotte is part of the actual story and clockwork doll is a cool design.

Scherezade, never heard any love or hate for her, just included her because

Furthermore did you really forget Shura's name? It was the easiest to remember.

yes, because she's the one i personally gave the least shits about. I know others loved her the most because of the sexy, but she's not my type.

lso, please don't tell me you forgot Seigfried's name (unless you're thinking of someone else). That's a big SoulCalibur fail right there.
blame dark souls, i've been dealing with a lot of Seig's lately i was mixing up names.

also keep in mind they could easily come up with more unique movesets for them.

I just feel like its a waste to come up with original characters for SC then simply not use them again.

I drop angol fear because thats literally just a pallete swap of angol noir or whatever from sgt frog, the artist wasn't even TRYING there, and he already used angol fear in his actual manga later on.

tbh i like that better. more fighting the opponent, instead of the controls.

All four of the anime guests are dumb and would add nothing substantial to SC6 over producing new characters.

So you're the reason why fighting games like Tekken 7 have one button supers, and other modern fighting games have one button specials?

236236H+P+K (which is usually set to a macro, i.e. one button), is too difficult to perform? You can just mash 2323 too also. How the hell did anyone play fighting games 10-20 years ago? By gitting gud and learning how to play properly, not by making the game pretty much play itself.

It really does feel like the FGC is moving towards making everything Divekick in like 10 years or less.

all four of those characters created specifically for SCIV were better than all the new SCV characters combined.

So whats your complaint about, again?

is too difficult to perform

too UNRELIABLE when playing online. dropped inputs and all that. it's like trying to get a 360 input to fucking read when playing a 2d fighter online. It's a struggle sometimes.

Not really. It's like saying one pile of shit is better than the other.

Online "balance" doesn't matter. It's just a laggy, illegitimate shitshow regardless. The input is consistent offline as long as you input it properly. SCVI doesn't need to be easier than SCV. SCV is already the easiest SC, and is easier than most FG's anyway.

So what about that alleged special Bandai Namco event on the 15th where SC6 Switch is going to be shown?

No offense, but folks really need to stop making excuses and actually TRY to get better (not saying names). People who complain 24/7 about SC being "too hard," waiting for a free handout, are the reason why SCV axed certain stances (ex: Ivy's whip and coiled state, Mitsurugi's relic stance), movesets, etc. Again, I'm not saying names but it's starting to get annoying.

Ironically, back when SC was good, it actually had one of the least intimidating entry barriers among popular fighters.

Starting character roster likely to be "just" 20 characters strong. Here a screen from the character select:

At least two of these spots will be new characters I guess. Damn...I worry a little for Yunseong, who made place 14 in the popularity poll. :/ But they left him out in SC5 without any replacement, so the might feel they have to include him now again, right? :/

And here's the first, real, uninterrupted gameplay:

Here's another video, including the character select, which looks quite nice...

Last but not least, a Switch version is for now not in the works:

Based from how Sophitia is deaigned in this game, it looks like Dead or Alive with weapons. :D

It doesn't look like DOA. DOA has very polished character models, already in DOA5. Here I can literally count the polygons used in the polygon mesh. The base character model (not the costume) is exactly the one from SC4, which is 10 years old.

Bandai Namco are so lazy and cheap and people still go around and say these games look so amazing. >__> No wonder Bamco doesn't feel the need to change a thing.
