I think William will get a cameo at best. His story is done and dusted. I'm assuming we saw the new protagonist in the trailer there.

Ah well… nothing new to see, but this was better than I thought… gives me some hope for the DoA6 showcase tomorrow XD

It's great that we get a demo version again. Not sure about the char creator though. Seems to be a waste in a game where you run around in full armor 99% of the time and that budget could be better used elsewhere. And a female option additional animation and modeling work…

Doesn't make a huge difference to me, personally, as long as the narrative/cutscenes don't suffer as a result. They shouldn't, since most of Nioh's narrative strengths came from its supporting characters.

Anyway, did they mention a time-estimate on the demo?

This is so exciting, I’m happy we’re getting a second instalment of Nioh. Since Nioh1 took place in the early 1600’s i wonder If they will skip a few years or will continue from where they left with Nioh 1. I also wonder if we’ll have a new protagonist in Nioh 2 since William’s story has been told. It would be cool too see Okatsu as the main protagonist of Nioh 2.

Ok, they will add character creation, that is nice!

Also, from what i've understood, the game will probably not be a huge leap from the first game, which probably means shorter dev time, so it might be a 2019 release...

I'm curious how story will be handled though, i imagine our protagonist will have even less lines of dialog than william did.

Here is the interview for those who missed it:

There is also an archive of the whole Playstation stream
but you obviously won't get any more Nioh footage out of it.

So how does this game's save system work ? Because one time the power went out and I lost an entire sub mission's worth of Progress... at which point I deleted this game off the face off the earth.... but another time... I died and I closed the game.... but it remembered I died when I rebooted it so I had to slog back to my Green Bird and pick it up like a god damn filthy peasant.

Seems like it only saves on death or at shrines.... pretty irresponsible.

It would be quite strange for a game to autosave at every step you take into the game. It only saves at shrines and after you’ve done the mission.

Oh now I understand the confusion...

People keep saying that you can't play this game like its Dark Souls... I personally didn't see it... I've been playing it exactly like Dark Souls... what I failed to factor in is I don't play Dark Souls the same way every body else does so for the longest time I was just confused.

Edit: They anounced a sequal right ? What sort of changes can we expect ?

Yes. There was a quick teaser at e3. They mentioned in an interview that there would be a create a character type deal. Your character can go/turn yokai (not real sure about what that really means yet. And I hope that it doesnt cancel out the spirit animals.) and they said “the gloves are coming off and theyre going in hard.” Which was great to hear. Not much info on it yet, sadly.

I don't like William... and I don't like any of the characters I've ever created either... can't we just be Hanzo and be done with it ? :(

and they said “the gloves are coming off and theyre going in hard.”

This scares me... I thought the gloves were already off when they dropped a Spikey Ceiling on my Head...

LoL... Dude... I'm Being Thoroughly Fucked by Tome's RNG at the Forge... if all Rarities are less than 20% and the Divine is 55% then why do I never get the divine drop.... I did this 3 times.... it should have dropped 1.5 times by now.

FINALLY !!!

It literally just dropped right now... at this very second.... lol 4 ATTEMPTS !!!... thanks to Save Scumming it only cost me 2 Divine Fragments Rather than 8 !!!

So before I finish Nioh I figured I would drop some knowledge bombs that I managed to accumulate in this game.... also Brute might come back so I better do this quick....

Lets start with Stance Switching...

As far as I can tell nobody Switches Stances the way I do... usually people just go with Mid Stance and only switch when the game forces them to... like when Dwellers start Crawling and your mid stance attacks just go right past over them...

Others do it more often... they'l have specific enemies or situations dedicated to a Specific Stance... and some go one step further and make use of Flux skill to gain more Ki Back... they double switch so they can stay in the same stance....

But why stop there ? This system isn't too different from Dante's Styles in DMC4... so why not just take what you learned there and apply it to Nioh.

For example you may want to use High Stance attacks but hate the high stance dodge because it takes too long to recover... so why not just switch Stances mid animation ? I mean thats what Dante does... he wants to use trickster to close in on the enemy but Swordmaster to Juggle them with... so he just switches styles during the Trickster Dash animation....

Infact I spend most of my time in Nioh in Low Stance just for the mobility but I always attack in high stance for the Damage.... I only use Mid Stance for weaklings or those Skills you can loop over and over again (God Of wind)... if you're a Tonfa user then this is kinda necessary because Tonfa doesn't have a good punish like the Spear does... mountain breaker is a good punish skill for the Tonfa but its a High stance skill so if you dodge in high stance then it will take too long to recover to punish with mountain breaker... and even if you do get the punish in time... you still have to roll away... and that leaves you highly vulnerable especially since that whole sequence will burn through a huge chunk of Ki.

So what I do is Start in Low stance, dodge the attack and switch to high stance mid animation and punish with Mountain Breaker... then during that animation I switch to back to low stance and double dodge away... rinse and repeat.

That whole sequence is so efficient that living water isn't even necessary.... I mean... you should definitely have it but I can manage without it.

I also incorporate stance switching when a damn Revenant just won't stop blocking... because you expend all your Ki faster than you can break the revenants guard... even with Ki Pulse William will just tire him self out... but you can use Flux to Keep the offense going... the trick is to get the benefits of Flux without the the complications of changing Stances... I used to Double Switch Stances after attacking but this is horribly ineffecient... because it takes too long and you leave a giant gap in your offense that the revenant will use to poke at you from low stance...

So what I do now (with my Odachi) is I change stances literally right after inputting the attack... and then when its Ki Pulse time I only have to change stance back to the one I started in to get the Flux Bonus... and the gaps in my Ki Break Sequences are smaller.... ofcourse this is only useful if you didn't buy any skills for the axe/Odachi... if you have combo enders for those weapons then this level of stance shenanigans is mostly unnecessary.... but its good to know.

Now this next one is something I suck at... I also try to change Stances when I'm getting comboed.... obvioulsy I block first but while I'm doing that I change stances so I can dodge away before my Ki gets destroyed... I suck at it and even if I do get it right theres no guarantee it will even save me. But hhey... its my only option.

Next lets go over Ki Pulse

Yeah yeah I know... you already know how to Ki Pulse like a god damn fiend. I actually want to go over Pulse Techniques such as:
Living Water
Demon Dance (Tonfas)
And Stance Change (Spear)
These are all Essentially 2 for 1 Skills because they give your Ki back and evade moves at the same time (The Spear attacks instead of evades) so obviously you're going to want to have them... all of them... see... Living Water and Demon Dance have to be purchased 3 Times... one for each stance... and to use Stance Change for the spear in any stance.. you have to buy the Fluidity Mystic Art....

Or maybe you Don't...

See because you can change stances mid animstion and then still get the Ki Pulse afterwards... you can simply buy only one or two versions of living water/Demon Dance and whenever you need to use that skill you only need to make sure you switch to the stance that actually has that tecnique BEFORE Ki Pulse is even ready... then when it is ready you can just pulse from the dedicated stance that you bought Living Water/Demon Dance for.

So you can save yourself a few samurai points by not buying the High Stance versions of those skills.

Now you can do the same thing with the spear but its going to be tricky because the Ki Pulse technique is only available in the High Stance... the process is still the same but you have to do it faster because the attacks in Low/Mid Stance don't last that long, so you might get early Ki pulses with no Bonus if you're too slow on your execution.. I'm lazy so I just bought the Fluidity Mystic Art Instead... but it is possible.

Really how far you're willing to go to learn all this crap depends on how hard the RNG Fucks you over.

Edit :

So can you use Flash Attack during special Ki Pulse techniques ? I would imagine that would make the Spear alil unfair because combining that with SSP for even more Abare is just nuts... and the Tonfas Demon Dance would be even more fun with Flash Attack...

I'm curious because I just got Jin Hayabusa's Stuff and I hate Katana's... but I want incorporate Izuna's into my gameplay... and flash attack might help me do that...

So... time to determine the most effecient route to The Queens Eyes.

Now these missions are either Really short but difficult or somewhat long but easy with the help of Sneaky Ninjutsu.

Request From Ginchiyo.

Bridge Of Bone

Guardian Of The Underworld

Kanbei and The Over Lord.

Death To Bandits

Red Oni of the Ii

Invitation From The Warrior Of The West

Demon Hunting

Greater Demon Hunting

Giant Frog Brawl

The Seven Good Tidings

Champion Of The East

The Demon's Daughter

The Unrepentant Thief

The Ogress

The Disappearing Ranjatai

The Three Souls

The Fallen Onmyo Mages

The Missing Catalogue

The Watcher of Darkness or whatever its called. (Really this mission is just for me because I got the Magoichi Boss Fight down a fucking science)
And maybe 3 or 4 other missions on top that and you should be able to skip straight to The Queens Eyes...
