I thought that the beginning of the game was perfect. Leon only goes in with his trusty handgun, hoping that things will go smoothly, only to be faced with an obstacle he's never faced before, without the tools to properly overcome it. I feel just the same as Leon does when he's just thrown in there, and I think its fantastic.
Gameplay-wise it's bad, you're under-leveled for what you're put against, and that entire village section is too difficult on a fresh run, especially on Professional. You're also faced with a very odd decision as well, fight off more than a dozen Ganados with only your starting pistol and whatever you can find, or get the shotgun but be punished with a chanisaw dude, for it, it just doesn't work and it's too hard for the first 10-20 minutes of the game. An enemy with an instant kill on the first combat section of the game, really?

its basically a puzzle in itself when you first run into it, but it looks a lot worse than it actually is because when you first start off you don't know you only have to hold out for a few minutes.

after your first playthrough you shouldn't have any issues with it though. in fact you can shoot the bird, get a free grenade, blow the cutscene triggered one up easily OR go take that grenade and attack the one at the gate then deal with the cutscene one normally. you end up getting twice as much money as you're supposed to at the beginning of the game. i think moments like that is why its so beloved because it greatly rewarded great play, with great loot, from a great merchant.

i played ORCs a bit, but the shooting just felt really bad. you say that they got closer to normal the third person .shooter and while that may be true that just put it comparable to others that were so much better than it

RE4 was its own thing and while good its not comparable to something like Gears.

I have to ask.

Why do you keep comparing to Gears?

That doesn't seem like an applicable comparison.

Id compare to Left 4 Dead or Ghost Recon.

Play Revelations 2 buddy, you won't regret it!

Need convincing? @panicitstylor

She needs to be shot.

Don't worry, Ashley grows up to be zombified in Dead Rising

The village section at the beginning is actually one of my favorite parts of the game. It really dives you in head first and you gotta survive. Yeah my first time through I died a few times, but I came up with a strategy that worked pretty well and I just felt great. Gotta love the cutscene right afterwards as well.

Re4 is in my top 3 favorite games of all time, but I love the entire series to death. I love the characters as well, I can't pick a favorite. Billy ftw.

honestly if the game had been able to keep up that level of intensity throughout i would have been willing to call it a horror game, but it falls pretty drastically soon after.

Silent hill 2>REmake>RE2

Honorable mention for RE 5 which is a great game no matter what people think, especially in coop, probably my best memory.

Not a great RE but Wesker is so badass in this one, plus we witness his end.Wesker's theme is glorious.

In the RE2 remake Leon looks great, but Claire seems...abit off to me.

The funny thing is she really looks like claire in some of her personnal pictures but for whatever reasons she' s off ingame o_O and I'm not a fan of the new costume.

Leon is really good though as Marvin.

They're both scanned from models right? So blame Claire's model lol

Also I think its just her profile that gives her a round face, front side she looks like RE Revelations 2 Claire but a lot younger.

Holy shit Claire looks WAY too young.

And the game comes out four days before Kingdom Hearts 3. I have 4 days to beat RE2re. It's gonna get crazy.

My favourite series by far.
Loved the Remake, 2, 3 and CVX

Code Veronica X is so underrated and that game had the best storyline by far.
Loved 4 and 5 but I don't consider them as RE games, although the village part in 4 seemed like a RE to me but the moment we went to the castle that changed.

6 was the worst game I have ever played, Jake is dumb edgy hoe, Helena is as basic as it can be and Cherry was ok. I refuse to play 7 because that's not the direction I want RE to take, who thought a FPP was a good idea should get fired.

Oh and 0 was just too boring for me.

I'll never understand those who won't play 7 a REALLY good RE game just because its first person... its the most RE Resident Evil game in over 10 years and a return to form.

RE2 Remake is just RE7 gameplaywise in 3rd person lol(also RE1 was originally first person)

You should try Re7 it's a good game honestly. It isn't perfect but the Bakers are really interesting.Even with this new approach it still retains RE's dna.

It was a good surprise honestly, especially in VR.The artistic direction is pretty good.

I have that itch to play it again, which is surprising to me.Take it for what it is and you'll probably enjoy it as i did.
