I thought all those colourful special effects make it easier to tell.... of course they could also be obsuring my vision.

Like hellsweeps? You ain't blocking that on reaction, you make a read and you block low. It's kinda like bass 1p, at 22 frames of start up it seems like you should be able to see it and block accordingly, but something about the way it's animated makes it hard to see so you just have to make the read and block low

Which is why the term "unreactable" is thrown around.

Its not that fast tbh, its about making a good read, especially in terms of low follow ups in strings. If you play DOA its possible, DOA is a way faster game XD

If you want a game where -almost- everything is truly reactable, play For Honor. Tekken has a ton more guessing going on, despite the rhetoric.

Tekken really isn't guessing tho, if anything DOA is way more guessing game than tekken is. In Tekken as you get better you learn to crouch guard and learn different ways to shut down attacks. The game is slower than DOA, if you're having issues I have to look at you a bit strangely since DOA is way faster and more read and guess oriented than Tekken is

Tekken is just as guess oriented. No damage happens without a guess happening on one side or another. The only difference is payout per guess, and if you want to play defensive and stall for time because you're too chicken to be the one to initiate that guess, Tekken gives you the tools to do so.

Muscle memory is all it is in Tekken! Are we talking combo strings (like the 10 hit combos). Ducking a high attack? If we're talking hellsweeps (like bitch ass DJ), then that's pure guessing over there. I swear sometimes I can't even see when DJ players wavedash...

@Rikuto I suppose that's true although still, DOA is way faster than Tekken is so if you play DOA Tekken shouldn't be much different. @Mama I used to struggle with those but i think I'm getting better at reacting now since like when Kazuya does his hell sweep I can react to it, its mostly about failing at reacting a few times to get it down so when you see it next time you're like hell no and block it xD

Naah... just kiddin... just random guess... I not even bother about "string things"
Btw string =combo right?
KasumiLover
KasumiLover
@Kensei_warlord it depends, strings like Lili's d2,2 can be done on block but if done against a launched opponent said string will be a combo
KasumiLover

Since in that case Lili can finish the string with a high kick or mid kick, you have to react either by ducking and risk getting hit by the mid kick or sidestepping or blocking but if you SS you risk getting hit by the high kick that tracks
