so, i actually bought Ultra despair girls a while ago under the pretense that it was some quirky 3rd person shooter, only later did i learn it was an interquel for a VN series, and i have very eclectic feelings towards VNs, (there's a few i like and i can't stand the rest of 'em). that and UDG story starts out pretty weak so i had even less reason to go check out it's predecessors

but midway through chapter 3 things started getting really interesting and i got mad curious about the world of dangaropa, so i got ended up buying the first game, and goodness gracious, it's so good!

I heavily recommend DR2 when you finish DR1 DR2 probably has the best characters where even the dumb joke characters like Soda have deep character.

Since y'all are fans, answer me this, if im playing the game is there any point to watching the anime? Like is the anime just a retelling of the games or is it an original story?

Dangaronpa The Animation is just a retelling of DR1 with an awful English dub(its literally full f memes and no reprising VAs)

DanganRonpa 3 The End of Hopes Peak Future Arc/Despair Arc is an all new story and fills in holes of the 2 games.

It also has a Funimation Dub which is again full of memes and killing literally any tension the anime has.

Only watch DR 3 anime after youve finished the games, or just watch everything in dub and enjoy yourself while listening to the glorious voice acting

please don't... the dub is garbage, only memelords think its good because its full of memes as an actually serious part of the series avoid the dub at all costs and watch subbed.

all the JP cast reprise their roles and is just better from a narrative point I watched a few episodes dubbed and it was cringy as fuck.
