...for the tits and ass. Why is it that TN "tones down the fanservice" and all the closet perverts come out all of a sudden these past couple months? The "negative" PR around DOA6 is infuriating.
Do you ever consider that fanservice is apart of its appeal? (doesn't matter what genre it is) When you do something that tones its appeal (considering DOA5 updates) people are not going to be happy about. Kinda like what happen back at DOA5 Vanilla:
It'd be like toning down gore & violence from MK. This whole "buying SCVI over DOA6" is an end results on how companies appeal to their demographics. SCVI continues giving what fans want & not toning stuff down, while DOA6 trying to follow trends and moving away from its appeal (even though it was updated and there is more along the way). This situation could end up like DBFZ vs MVCi.
Thing is, the fanservice is still there. Helena's dress still shows off panty shots and Kasumi's outfit is skintight. The "fanservice" was why DOA was commonly the butt of jokes in the gaming community. How can anyone give TN shit for wanting to tone that aspect down?
The best way the "negative" PR could've been prevented is if they mentioned from their IGN article "We have no intention to tone down sex appeal, since this is what fans prefer". What I'm looking forward for DOA6 is some sort of survey feedback (which I heard from Shimbori himself at EVO) to express what kind of DLC content people want.
Don't need to remind on "fanservice" is still there, since I've been following them and we still have a long way to go, plus after the games release. Even though "fanservice" was butt of jokes by "gaming community", this at the very least had the longest DLC support your never going to appeal to everyone.
Yeah, in hindsight, Shimbori should of made no comment with regards to "toning down" fanservice since the morons in the gaming community will just misinterpret the intentions.
