It will slow down the players that actually want to learn the game properly and doesn't want to guess the frame advantages for everything. SoulCalibur isn't big like Tekken either so not including frame data won't do the game any favours competitively.
I don't mind Tekken not having frame data since after a while you should be able to see and feel what's safe and whatnot but SC6 could use it since its not as straightforward to know adavantage and disadvantage unless GIs, repels, guard breakers or weapon clashes are present
True, SoulCalibur & Tekken are simple enough that you can surprisingly get by without knowing frame data, but it's an unnecessary pain in the ass in 2018 to have to figure out/guess all the frame data in every new fighting game picked up. Just wastes time. In contrast, VF feels like a nightmare to learn without frame data.
Somehow this doesn't surprise me. :/
2B as a guest tho. She doesn't fit in but then again we did have Star Wars guest back in SCIV. I'd main her. Square would probably add Sora though since KH3 is coming up.
If you're confident that your frame data makes sense, you'd be proud to include it in-game. When you realize that you have no fucking clue what you're doing and that you don't want the community to find out how shit you are at making games, you'll try to obfuscate as much as you can.
I have to say, props to Kayane for not letting him off the hook in that interview. She made it very apparent how stupid she found his answer and how frustrating the situation is for the dedicated community.
Another thing I find frustrating are the Tekken/SoulCalibur fanboys that try to justify not including frame data in a fighting game referring to "how things used to be blah blah". This isn't the fuckin' 90's when the fighting game scene was smaller, in the arcades offline; where everyone just found things out randomly. The FGC will only improve when the players are properly informed on stuff like, hmm... Frame data.
