Think Hayabusa would be the better (if not perfect) representative since he has history. Ninja Gaiden was 2D platformer with Hayabusa back then, not to mention that quite a few characters in Smash's roster came from 2D side scrolling for representation. If it came from Koei with any representative, it makes huge sense for him.

Why would Kasumi be in Smash? DOA's basically never been on a Nintendo console (apart from one instance with DOAD on a handheld).

Well to be fair, the status isn't a real indicator for a serious/joke post ahaha. Course jokes aside, never understood people's pick on Kasumi over Hayabusa when it comes to character inclusion into another game for a DOA/NG representative. I-literally- can't see why I'd pick the other 3 ninjas over him to better represent.
