That definitely would be scummy, I doubt they would pull something like that. Every DMC from Capcom had ways to grind a huge amount of red orbs without having to pay anything. DMC4 Special Edition had similar practices but it was not that expensive just to get that much red orbs from the previous game. Someone will likely find a hotspot in DMC5 where you can probably acquire that much without having to pay anything.
It won't be hard to get red orbs, unless you can't get your stylish rank to go over B at all in most fights. Also, indeed, this price for that many red orbs is quite ridiculous, but we're unfortunately living in times where almost every single game has a Deluxe Edition of some sorts with overpriced dlc, incomplete game on launch date and season passes that aren't exactly cheap (looking at you, Tekken 7 season pass 1)
Well SFV's fight money is a borderline scam with how slow it accumulates. Not surprised that Capcom would be scummy with DMC5 too. And some games have around $100+ of in-game currency on sale. It's ridiculous.
normally takes 2 and half playthroughs to fully level up in these games, and along the way you learn how to use your skills in a completely organic fashion, but I guess someone at capcom was like "fuck that, ppl aint got time to learn videogames! just let 'em buy all the skills from the start!"
personally i don't mind, if certain ppl want to buy cause they don't have the time to grind then so be it, I aint getting it so it's w/e. As long as farming orbs and levleing the up the proper way doesn't take a hit in order to push people to buy orbs with IRL cash, i'll be good with it
A casual player managed to get 28000 orbs without even trying in the Dante demo sooo it doesn't seem to throttle orbs(at least right now). That said, that could be just for demo purposes but for now I don't see it, its probably just for people that don't want to grind to get the good stuff early.
Also I believe in 4SE you could only buy red orbs etc once you couldn't keep buying them.
