not even trying to troll with that comment, if you block as a defender you open yourself to getting grabbed and mixed up, this is why alot of ppl (especially online) would rather mash a crush or a high priority move under pressure rather than give their opponent a chance to open them up. it sounds scrubby but it makes sense in it's own kind of way, throws (outside of neutral throw or throws with breakpoints) are
guaranteed damage, blocking just hands it to them on a silver platter, and vs characters with powerful throw games (phase 4 and ryu 4 example), that's not the kind of damage you want to offer willy nilly, when you mash you shut down the throw option, so your opponent has to go for the CH option, and if they do put you in stun, there is the off chance you could reverse the pressure with a good hold, depending on
how fast your reactions and well you can recognize strings, and if you happen to have a really good crush you have even less reason to block (which is why you will never ever see a Helena or a Lei fang player even touch the block button)
bottom line the whole thing is risk vs reward, do you wanna block and offer the attacker free damage should they go for the throw? or hit a button, denying the throw, possibly get CH and put you and the attacker in a guessing situation? I guess there's always he option to just block low, but if your intention is to deny the throw i'd rather mash, but what do i know, im just a scrub
I don’t think you understand the situation lol Well there was a bit of delay and I was repeatedly getting grabbed on the ground even though I tried my best to get back. I mean I won but that was irritating
