The DOA Australian Champion Title Belt

The DOA Australian Champion Title Belt Series - having Australia's top Dead Or Alive players battle it out for the right to call themselves "The Best in Australia". The organizers of this title belt consists of veteran DOA players base in Melbourne, Australia. Between them they have dedicated over 16 years of Dead Or Alive experience in competitive play, tournament organization and the organization of meets.

Their mission with the belt is to create a seemingly definitive way to define who the best DOA player in Australia is and to provide the international community a colourful viewing of the play which defines who is the best of those players. In brief, to gain contendership for the title players must support the community and perform well.

How the title-ship works.

Each title fight will be recorded and upload for everyone's pleasure.

The title holder will fight the next worthy challenger which is decided by the title’s organizing members, based upon a tournament performance. A nominee from another tournament player will be considered by the title's organizing members still hold the final word.

The title will be vacated every 12 months from each battle. Meaning there has to be a battle for the title at least once every 12 months.

Contender invites can only be given 3 months after a title battle has occurred.

An interim Title can be created 3 months after a title is given. Interim Titles becomes void if a title is once again given.

The format of the fight.
  • 2 Nominated players otherwise the Title holder and nominated challenger will play an endurance set of games to determine who steps away as the title belt holder.
  • The set of games is a first to 10 (best of 19) game. Gruelling indeed.
  • In Game Rules: First to 3 (best of 5) rounds, normal life, 60 seconds, danger zones on, random stages.
  • Players can only change character after a lose
  • Each player can choose as many characters as the rules allow
The winner of that format obtains the Champion Belt. They also win the right to be called Australia's best.

LAST TITLE BATTLE SUMMARY

Touko AKA FM Bigboss is the defending champion.

USER=285]Tones[/USER] qualified after beating Touko in the BAM6 finals.

A chance at revenge for both. Once again, the rules have changed, making this a fight of skill, wits and endurance. The ability to produce consistent results is key.

Nothing new from either player, giving us the old school Australian match up of Touko's Hitomi and Tones' Brad Wong. Let's get into it. Both players seem to know each other's game inside out with the first 3 matches going back and forth. Things are looking amazing for Touko, he's up 3 nil. Tones changes to his Lisa which doesn’t chance anything until Touko’s up 7-1

What's this? Looks like the tides have turned. Tones just took 5 games in a row! Touku stops the spree and brings the scores to 8-6.

Tones grabs another game with another switch to Brad Tones but that's it, Tones' attempt to manipulate momentum with his character shift doesn't pay off and Touko's takes the belt.

Final results after 50 minutes is 10-7 to Touko, who has proven he only needs Hitomi to hold strong against Tones' army of Brad Wongs and Lisas.

Well done to Touko! He's now the belt holder's champ twice over!

I'm happy to talk about it, just don't want this thread to be filled with little back and forth posting. We can do that over facebook messaging.

If anyones have any concerns with this post again, facebook message or PM me so we can clear things up, if need be I'll edit this post to help answer questions.

Here's a little on how contendership works.

Keep in mind the following:
  • The goal is to support the community and encourage the community support.
  • It's designed to be climbed quickly but in a way to also make sure players support the scene.
  • Winning an event like BAM (Primary) will earn you a title show all other placements require more climbing.
  • Tournaments and competitions point values change base on categories depending on attendance and players point values.
  • The "points system" is based on performance. Attend and perform well to earn a shot.
There are 5 categories competitions can fall under. Attendees and their point values (the level of competition) will determine where a competition is classified. Here they are in a descending order for how much points their are worth.

Primary - Secondary - Tertiary - Quaternary - Minor.

Primary is worth the most Minor is worth the least. Looking at things outside of a points perspective, a major tournament will fall under Primary or Secondary. If a Major flops in attendees/competition they'll fall under Tertiary or Quaternary. More minor events will fall under Tertiary, Quaternary or Minor but can only be a Primary or Secondary if they have a massive attendance and players who have a good amount of point.

Since Primary and Secondary are few and far between, with their points value, they will mainly determine who gets a title shot. While Tertiary, Quaternary and Minor are there to separate those who support the scene and those who don't in their points, keeping in mind there points value will slowly add up and earn one a title shot.

If a competitor who is far from a title shot in competition beats the title holder or another competitor who is almost or is due for a title shot, their points from the competition is multiplied. It is done that way to ensure the point value of competition/tournament category's integrity across the board is not lost.

There is the possibility for an interim title to ensure the title holder cannot just sit on the belt.

Tones I was thinking just now that the next belt could be a faceoff between whoever has the highest points over the Shadowloo Battle Royale season, and whoever wins the tournament at Shadowloo Showdown (or highest placed Australian)

That should be easy to pitch to the guys and we can talk to TK to promote it on social media for the season. Send me a note when you get your photos together and we'll get it happening.

Yeah, gg everyone. I feel bad that we had to rush the finals because of me, but I appreciate everyone being understanding. So how did the title belt fights go? Any vids?

It's all good Ebabil. It was great fun, gg to everyone.
Ebabil, you played really well, hope to have many more matches with you in the future.
I'm sure Tones will update with all the results soon.

Belt videos are here and they start at about 1:53:30
Unfortunately, due to technical issues we weren't able to record the tournament videos, otherwise we would have captured and streamed everything, pools through to the finals.

Australian' classic Tone's Brad Wong Vs Emperor of Japan's Ayane. First 2 rounds were very touch and go both players feeling it out and finding their groove, but Emperor of Japan's Ayane shut down Tones' Brad game by keeping the game play where it rewards her to take the set of games, 2-1.

Emperor of Japan up 1-nil.

Next match up is Tones with Lisa and EOJ with Alpha-152. Lisa had to deal with Alpha's stun and critical burst game coupled by her massive damage throws but Lisa kept the pressure on with her own massive damaging throws and showing Alpha why having a more controlled tech rolls and wake-up is important in the game of DOA. 2-0 to Tones.

Score is 1 all.

With nothing but sarcasm both of Tones and Emperor of Japan saved our best characters for last. Tones Eliot with his world famous mid punch strikes and Emperor of Japan top of shelf Mila showing everyone she can hold a few mid punches. What a shame she didn't have enough mid punch holds to stop Eliot. 2-0 to Tones his little boy of a character with a gray shirt.

Tones takes the title belt with a score of 2 set of games to 1.

Well played by both, it could of went either way if Emperor of Japan's Mila remembered a launcher or two. Well done to FM BigBoss and Berzerk! who were the stars of the show with their commentating.

I must say, A gg to all.

A massive thanks to shadowloo for having us down there and lending us their stream for the title fight. Check them out any of the links below.

Tones can you explain the point system a bit more? I don't have any quibbles with the selected participants in the first bout (both the two most recent BAM winners), but I don't have a reference for a qualifying tournament that you mentioned.
