Hmm the feudal Japan open world game looks really nice, Not sure If it will be something I'm interested in though? It will be cool to see how they make the feudal culture and everything in the game and If there will be ancient landmarks in the game? I wonder If they had bibliopole in feudal Japan? Who knows. The world does look very munificent though with how gorgeous those forests look. I'm guessing there will be lots of things to do so that will be good. I'm guessing you can impignorate in the game too since like in the witcher 3 you'll probably pick up a lot of stuff so you'll probably be able to sell it for money.

Well, aren't you Mr. Fancywords... XD

Apropos "munificent"... Have you guys seen the gorgeous, fully remade intro of Shadow of the Colossus? :D It was published alongside the gameplay trailer that we saw in the Sony press conference. You might even have missed it:

Here's the PS3 remaster for comparison:

(The PS4 version actually has worse texture filtering here, lol.)

Huge technical improvement...but I also have the feeling that a certain hazy mystery lingering over the land in the original is now gone. It does have a different feel to it. :/

You know it! :p And yeah I hadn't seen that but It really is gorgeous, Seeing the comparisons side by side like that really makes it clear just how improved the graphics are. Not to mention stuff being added as well like the grass and the lighting is great.

Again, I actually liked the hazyness of the original. The moon as this blurry light orb instead of this very clear circle has a more myterious feel to it imo.

Shadow does look stunning and I'll probably pick it up at some time. I never finished it on PS2, gave up on the last boss..... Boss fights are what I dislike most about games and this game is basically nothing but :-/ I wish they'd focus on remastering ICO, it's such a better game in all possible ways.

Eh...I actually prefer the original version. The misty/hazy aesthetic just worked for SotC, and let your imagination run wild, in a "dotted line" way.. the remake seems...TOO detailed. Loses the charm and mystique of the original, imo. So for once I agree with you on here lol.

Same thing happened with the upgrade from Mercenaries: Playground of Destruction to Mercenaries 2: World in Flames.

Sometimes less is more.

its like...i'm still gonna GET IT, but yeah the originally looked wayyyy better because the hazy graphics were part of the overally aesthetic.

I'm shocked nobody has talked about Last of Us here yet lol

Technically a very impressive showing and totally deserving attention in this thread, but the grim, brutal nature of that trailer personally turned me completely off. I don't like torture porn movies, series or games. :/ For some time I didn't even realize this was TLoU2. The first trailer, even though pretty gritty as well, I liked much more and I could see some sort of beauty in it.

what's to say? It's just a standard "realistic" looking game.

What's that even supposed to mean?

I gotta say, that even though I'm a fan of grim and brutal games, the last trailer made me reflect on wether the boundaries are being pushed a bit far. It's getting very realistic in the character depiction and thus the violence becomes very real. The break her wings scene was quite disturbing.

exactly what I said.

What's there to talk about? There's nothing of note.

I stand corrected. That's one perspective to talk about.

What will the Xbox One X do for your unpatched games:

Anyone here planning on getting the console when it releases next week? :)

if i had the money, i would, if only for the backwards compatibility.

Still the only Xbone games i've ever been interested in were Sunset Overdrive and the Rare Replay Collection.

Well if you get an X, I hope don't plan to have more than 7 games at any point lol

Almost every X enhanced game is at least 100GB and it only has 1TB storage.

Jesus, did Guerrilla Games again squeeze everything out of their artists and of what's technically possible on PS4 in an open world environment in Horizon Zero Dawn's expansion The Frozen Wilds. O:

You can cut the atmosphere with a knife, it's so thick. At every turn, in every lighting, a winter wonderland painting stretches itself out before you.
The new snow and weather tech and how your character dynamically and seamlessly reacts to it is mighty impressive too. This gameplay gif of Aloy just walking shows it quite well:

Here's another gameplay gif showing off the beautiful animations and physics:
