I had this happen to me a couple of days ago.
Friend: "Hey do you know *insert entertainment series here*?"
Me: "No, I've only seen the newest movies, but my parents are huge fans of it"-
Friend: "Okay so you know the 3rd movie from 1980, and the tv show season 3 episode 8"-
Me : "no...i know nothing about this series."
Friend: "oh..okay. So you know the spinoff, and the character *insertcharacter* here. Do you remember that episode where he went on the spaceship with *other character here* and *third character here* and they all went and fought the aliens and"-
Me: "...no. i know nothing about the series."
Friend: "Oh, sorry. Please tell me you at least know who *character that sounds sorta familiar* and *whothehellisthis* are? I mean your parents watch it so you must watch it right? I mean, you got the main character's name right so you must be a fan!"
Me: *internal screaming*
