Which entry in the series has the best soundtrack so far?

I'm going to say DOA3. It captures the new millennium VERY well in my opinion; especially Leifang and Ayane's themes. The themes also match the characters perfectly; Christie's is a standout for sure.

The soundtrack for DOA 2 Hardcore is incredibly near and dear to my heart. I’m also a big fan of the original DOA soundtrack. The rest of the games had okay music, but nothing that’s very memorable to me.

DOA3's is my favorite, but I can see the majority of fans choosing some form of DOA2.

I'd put DOA2U's club track remixes as an honorable mention, but mainly because their music was really hit or miss depending on the character.

^ The same for me. DOA3's is my favorite, but I also like some tracks from DOA2. And yeah, there are some good dance remixes and some that are just meh.

And I still think it's a crime that DOA2's Tengu-mai is so short.

DOA1 imo. The game's sound was ahead of its time, especially with the character select and Kasumi's theme. DOA2 was alright, most of the OST was Ok but only a few tracks stuck out, Helena and Ein's themes were definitely ahead of their time, and the Rayhouse Remixes were absolute FIRE, Jann Lee and Kasumi had some kickass remixes. Doa3's soundtrack I felt was the most experimental and darkest of them all, tracks like Christie's and Bass and even Jann Lee were much darker toned and even a bit grungy in comparison to what the series did before, Genra included, but tracks like Hayate's for example shined some upbeat light on the darker game tone. and DOA4 definitely upped the ante with character themes, but most were hit and miss with the returning characters, the new characters received themes that did them justice, including Alpha who had a menacing, yet sleek character OST that set the tone of the battle. And of course the ending OST with characters like Ayane, Helena and even Kasumi were very beautiful and well suited for those more emotional endings.

DOA5 is my second fave series OST, people don't give the stage OST much credit but tbh some stages like Ends of the Earth, Rapids(Raft Broken and Primal), Lost World, Scramble, and the Lab stage had some really badass OST. Character themes were good for Marie Rose and Rig, but all the others like Mila, Naotora, Momiji, Rachel, and even Mai I'm sorry but they were really lacking and lackluster, like they were missing something and they didn't feel as solid as the older characters' themes.

DOA2 easily.

LeiFang's, Kasumi's, Ayane's, Helena's, Bass', Ein's, and Tengu's themes, for instance, are amazing and still hold up today IMHO. And the menu theme got me hyped up every time I booted up the game.

DOA3 is a close second but suffers from a few too many hit or miss themes. Kasumi's, Ayane's, and Christie's themes do kick ass though.

DOA4 is decent but also suffers from too many of the returning characters having weaker themes than previous titles. The new characters' and GenFu's themes are awesome however.

DOA5's soundtrack was misguided IMO. The stage themes wore thin too quickly, besides Sakura which is amazing. The stages added in 5U such as Forest/Fallen Leaves & Lost World/Gaia are incredible, and I wish the DOA5 soundtrack was of the same quality as the added 5U stages.

DOA 2 without a doubt. Each track translates perfectly the personality of the characters.

Blazed Up Melpomene being my favorite.

Showdown from 5 was...

... instant disqualification for the whole soundtrack.

DOA2 is the first and best soundtrack of the series. First time when playing the demo on the Dreamcast, hearing Kasumi's theme: Hitohira ~reminiscent of ketsui no toki~ , blew me away! Then came Blazed up Melpomene (at first, I thought it was a mid-boss theme because facing Ryu on Kasumi's route on the demo convinced me until I found out it was Helena's). The whole soundtrack, though I later found out they were arrange tracks from the original arcade version, kicked ass. From YES or YES to Ultimate Weapon to the main select, D.O.A. Hardcore gave me a taste of 1's soundtrack with Densetsu no Hiken and The Fist of TAIKYOKU Blows Up! Going back to 1 with the original Ketsui no Toki, but then somehow we had Zack's theme for the PSX version, Gonna Make You Gasp, that went straight up porn.... O_O Best goes to Jann Lee's Heated Heartbeat, Gen Fu's Fastbreak and Bayman's Megadeath. Now the Rayhouse remixes in 2 Ultimate, I liked Bayman's as it went straight hip-hop and Helena's was pure French.

3 were hit or miss, but Eternity. God, that song had me humming that tune for days. Look Ahead, True Beauty, its to show, Reincarnate, Mayflower and Four Thousand are my picks

4 didn't gave me an impression until I dived into it later on. Moonlit Lady, Purity, Zany Zapper, Shade, Turn on the Lights, Fang, Solitary Desperation, Flowerbed and Alpha-152 has my vote.

5 wasn't that impressive to me. Most were lame like we're hearing a regular movie soundtrack and weren't memorable, except for Urges, Like a Dragon, Graceful Sounds and Can't Stop This Feeling.
