This video goes over the 3 different hit statuses in Dead or Alive and the damage of them. You may be giving up more damage than you would want.

DAMAGE SCALING DETAILS

Normal Hit: All attacks produce 100% of their damage on Normal Hit.

- I will Use a Jab doing 10 points of damage for this Example

Striking your opponent 10 times consecutively with a Jab on Normal Hit will do 10 points of damage each time it connects.

If a stun is scored on Normal Hit then every attack that follows after the stun does 50% of its damage.

So lets use Ryu Hayabusa's Forward Kick (6K), this causes a stun on Normal Hit. Following up with a Jab after the stun, the Jab will scale down to 5 points of damage instead of the 10 that it does on Normal Hit.

If you launch your opponent on Normal Hit, The attacks used as your will only do 40% of their damage. So after a launch on Normal Hit, Jab will only do 4 points of damage.

Counter Hit: All attacks scale up to do 125% of damage. Only the first strike used for the Counter Hit will scale up to 125% of damage. The attacks that are used after it will scale down to 60%.

-I will Use a Jab doing 10 points of damage and Mid Punch doing 18 points of damage for this Example.

Ryu Hayabusa's Mid Punch will do 18 points of damage on Normal Hit but it will do 22 points of damage on Counter Hit. Following up with a Jab after it, the Jab will do 6 points of damage.

Launching your opponent on Counter hit, the attacks used for the juggle after it will scale down to 50%. So, doing Ryu Hayabusa's Up Kick (8K) on Counter Hit, then following up with a Jab, the Jab will only do 5 points of damage.

Hi Counter: All Attacks scale up to do 150% of damage. Only the first attacks used as a Hi Counter strike will scale up to 150% of damage. The attacks following after the stun will scale down to 75% of damage.

-I will Use a Jab doing 10 points of damage and a Mid Punch doing 18 points of damage for this Example.

Ryu Hayabusa's Mid Punch that does 18 points of damage on Normal Hit will do 27 points of damage on Hi Counter Hit. Following up with a Jab after the stun, the Jab will do 7 points of damage.

Launching your opponent on Hi Counter, the attacks used for the juggle after it will scale down to 60% of its damage. So, following up with a Jab after a launch on Hi Counter, the Jab will do 6 points of damage.
