DOA6 Graphics Thread

In my opinion both koku an and burai zenin are still the two best looking stages in fighting games history.

Snow and sand physics, cloth physics all the way (just look at Hitomi DOA3 Karate gi physics, oh my god), reflections, beautiful backgrounds ... I loved that attention to detail era.
It’s still mind boggling how 2001/2004 Xbox games can handle real-time reflections and water physics but the current DOA games can’t. How “next-gen” are they really?

I was curious as to just how awkward Hayabusa's DOA2 outfit was on his body.

The background is slightly misaligned due to his moving back and forth. But, the bodies should be lined up pretty well.

I thought it'd be even worse than it is. But, it's still damn noticeable and should not have been left like this. Even beyond the sleeves, the way it contours around the pecs and the back are a dead giveaway.

I think somebody said that the "reflections" are actually low quality duplicate character/stage models under the floor. Don't know about the water physics. But, they clearly had a lot more head room for particle effects (snow, rain, etc.) than they do now for some reason. I don't know what's under the hood so I can't give specifics on how things work now. But, what we do know is that they're probably wasting a bunch of polys on the character heads that they could've used for other things.

Yeah, there's definitely a sense of grandiose scale and openness missing in DOA6. A lot of it feels claustrophobic even if it's not that bad in terms of actual size. The dinosaur stage comes to mind.

lolwtf

Why in the hell Ryu looks so damn UGLY?!

for me it's the haircut

he actually has a very handsome face, but that bowl shaped haircut is a mess!! Granted he has a ponytail, but still I never liked his long hair either. I think he'd look better with a different hairstyle, without bangs.

Well tbh it's kinda understandable that they can't exactly do reflections like that anymore. Back in DOA3 Itagaki only had to simulate lower poly models of a set amount of in game costumes and hair models which in DOA3 was limited so he could manage that since there were barely really any costumes and quite a few were simple recolors and hairstyles were not a thing besides Kasumi who had her long hime cut loose hair and braid

If they tried to do that in DOA6 it'd be impossible and probably would ramp up the base game GBs since that's making lower res(or at least slighlty lower res models since models that low wouldn't fly on today's current gen consoles, they'd have to use more current methods for reflection simulation) for every recolor and additional DLC costume/character in the game not counting dirt and water effects on clothes and the character and clothes rips, hair styles, and special changes likes the transform ninja DLC xD They couldn't possibly do that in DOA5 and it's re-releases and I doubt they would waste time and resources on it for 6 when they could put time into other details

Saw this (really nice) pic posted under #DOAFes2019PhotoContest on Twitter and it is called "Seaside Bird", but it should rather be called "Cellulite", lol:

It's sad that body deformation works in DOA5 and DOAX3 perfectly, but in DOA6 it leads to ugly bumps and visible polygon meshes on girls' butts and thighs.

It’s sad how DOA6 seems to be downgraded after it’s release. In the very early footage the game looks so much better than it does now. I hope a DOA6U on the PS5 will look better. Hopefully Team Ninja will actually work on the game themselves by that time, instead of letting a 3rd party company handle the game.

A 3rd party company didn't "handle the game" it was outsourced like a lot of games are these days, it never sounds appealing but just look. Some of you guys act like the game was completely made by other people and it was not... all you have to do is pay a quick visit to the credits.

Seriously most of this thread is just scrutinizing poorly taken photos, or some other bs. I've been called a joke defending the game by a cluster of different ass holes, but the real ass holes are the ones that would actually compare fucking Warner Bros worth a BILLION + dollars to the budget of Koei Tecmo -- WHICH IS pennies in comparison. We're lucky to have DOA6 at all.

I'm done with this stupid fucking thread. Dooooon't care anymore.

Then leave, nobody here was asking or waiting for your replies. We can point out our disappointment with the graphics of this game.

And I thought he actually wanted to see more photos in this thread... The photographer of the last photo would probably also disagree that their DOAFes photo contest entry was "poorly taken".

Anyway, it's sad to see such a great contributor to this thread go.

I don't know what your idea of a contribution is, but falsified bullshit isn't it. The whole let's exaggerate the outsourcing like TN didn't work on the game, not taking account for the budget and comparing to Warner Brothers billion plus dollar productions.

You stick to promoting PS4 graphics and using that as the default when PC whoops it's ass. Stupid, pointless thread.

It's perfectly safe here. :) There was just one regularly going off mine in here and it has (hopefully) successfully removed itself.

Flickr is a free image hosting site without image compression, it recently however only allowed 1000 images to be uploaded per account for free. But 1000 is a lot and you can always make another account with additional 1000 images of space. ;)
Another proven reliable place is good old Deviantart. It's primarily an art site, but photography is okay there too. There's no image compression, unlimited space and it's free.

By the way, if you upload photos in here you need to accompany it with at least some graphics related talk, because the moderation doesn't like plain photo dumps in here.

y’all been on dis bs for forever i feel like this convo has been so worn out. it is a game. wether we like it or not there are going to be people who disagree with our statements which is the beauty of forums, you get input from multiple views. at this point i feel like all of y’all just want the last laugh but listen..nobody buggin! personally i can look at all of these opinions and see how the others think and respect that, all mindsets are different, we focus on different aspects. but the hostility is coming from EVERY corner it’s really not that deep.

I agree. I'm fucking done with the graphics thread. I'll never look at it again. Leave it at that and continue your ever-so productive discussion.

Didn’t you say this before? You see it as complaining we see it as criticism. If you can’t handle that it is better that you leave.
