Didn’t you say this before? You see it as complaining we see it as criticism. If you can’t handle that it is better that you leave.

There is a fine difference between criticism and saying things that are blatantly wrong. Which is why I came back in the first place. I'm over it. I'm done. No reason to keep posting in this thread. I think I just made that abundantly clear before your response and I'm not triggered at all by you paraphrasing what I just said.

This is no longer worth my time. Bye, now. Please don't respond to me if you want me out of this thread so bad. Thanks mwuah.

Point out to me where I said everyone sucked, because I'm pretty sure my intention on this website period is the direct opposite of what you have implied. I came back to this thread because of the misinformation that was spread and really wasn't "criticism" at all.

The only reason I'm coming back now is because you are calling me out. I'll let you get back on your meaningless alter, because you seriously just proved to me that you are an immature baby that will literally bitch and moan about anything or anyone that doesn't agree with you then afterwards I'm sure you write-up your reports because you are seriously a coward as well that can't fight his own battles without trying to get a crowd first to rally behind you.

Frankly I know a lot of people that actually completely disagree with you, they just don't give a shit to respond. I've said you are a good contributor, I've also said this thread is toxic and sucks ass. That's my criticism, and that's about it. I stand behind it. Anything else or can I go now?

Sure... No one quoted and called you back here though. You obviously just can't help yourself stalking this thread.

This is quite ironic coming from Mr.: I don't contribute anything meaningful or on-topic in this thread ever but to complain about other people's opinions.

Or Mr.: After an argument I make a bitchy profile post deliberately misrepresenting everything that was said to garner at least some external validation of people that have no clue of what's going on.

Or. Mr.: People don't like me here, so I storm out like a diva promising to never ever return, repeatedly.

Anything else or can I go now?

Nah, I think we are good here. I'm honestly relieved you won't be derailing this thread any further. Well, except for your inevitable off-topic rant responding to this post.

Sadly. Let's try to salvage it by looking as these comparisons I made of Rig's model, and also the Sweat stage and its lighting.

When I posted these the last time hardly anyone (I think no one actually) wanted to discuss those, even though in this case there are some definitive improvements to notice. You can personally like the new male body models or not (lets forget about navel gate, lol), but the quality made generally a big jump. The models are completely redone from head to toe, with a much higher polygon count and detail, new skin textures and shaders. The emotions characters showcase during fights are also much stronger and detailed. The tattoos are unfortunately the same old textures, and some appear slightly displaced or distorted.
The lighting too, while often off in other stages, really shines in this one. It remains my favorite stage to take pictures in.

I see noticeable differences with rig’s eyes. They had no soul in DOA5 and now they’re much more clearer and actually look like he’s alive. The males got a significant boost and look much better than they did in DOA5.

It's actually quite funny that it was laways the male characters getting shafted in terms of model quality in comparison to the girls, the bread and butter of DOA, but in this game it is actually the male models that received the bigger quality bump. Partly they are even of higher quality than the female models. Those were actually partly downgraded. They have much blockier shoulders, legs and feet than before. I won't post my Mila comparisons again, because I think I literally posted them half a dozen times before.

What DOA6 also does really well are the facial features and textures of the male characters. So fine, detailed and expressive.

This photo I took during the same photo session, the same stage and lighting and Kokoro just looks like a flawless but also completely lifeless porcelain doll:

I get that's the typical DOA girl look, and many like exactly that, but at least a bit of detail and life would've been nice.

I compared to the female cast I think Kokoro has been downgraded the most in terms of appearance. She looked in my opinion, better in 5.

she has some facial expression here with her brows being lowered and her eyes being slightly more narrowed. I feel like in 6 she looks like a muppet.

Here’s a comparison of her in DOA5 and 6. In 5 her hair and eyes were darker than in DOA6. Which gave her more of a asian vibe to me. Idk if it’s me, or the camera angle or the lighting but she also seems to have a longer face in DOA6.

They just really messed her up so badly. In 5 she looked so gorgeous and was one of the most beautiful looking women in the cast after the art style change. In 6 she looks sick, literally sick. Her eyes and nose look like she's been sneezing for hours, and her facial expressions look like she doesn't even want to be there lmao.
I found your post comical at the very least @Tyaren
I thought you were leaving this thread?

I suppose she's technically only half-Japanese. So, maybe this was their attempt to take that into account.
I understand that they want to take that into account but she’s poorly executed. She and Nyotengu used to be the prettiest female characters in DOA5 in my opinion. But Leifang, Lisa and Momiji really took their spots.

Oh my god I feel like I'm in hell right now. He did not fix shit. He pointed out what the designers already knew, they acted surprised to be nice good people and low and behold navels are still a complete blurry joke.

Designers don't interact with us lol

I don't mind criticism, but when comments are made that are not productive

Nope, you mind criticism since you are taking it in a personal level. Also false, all these reports are productive.

, are consistently recycled and aren't even true;

They're consistently recycled because these issues are still true.

I'm going to defend DOA.

You aren't defending DOA, you're excusing laziness and lack of talent.

When you use the absolute worst part of the game as your example it's like okay this is yesterday's news and let's be real -- we aren't going to notice any of that belly button shit in the middle of an action packed set.

Now this is just false dichotomy.

You can't have DOA5 (2012 and PS3 game) level of detail because DOA6 is a fighting game, right?.

Not exactly a crisis. They will continue to clean up the game as time moves forward. They were in a dammed if we do and dammed if we don't situation and they have made the best of it that they can. They need graceful criticism not shots to the nuts and threats.

And before I get OMG TYRANT WOULDN'T THREATEN ANYBODY remarks I'm not talking about him.

Nope, they won't clean all the game because there are things like models that they should work from scratch to be at DOA5 level.

What they need is realizing people are not blind and will find out their laziness. Dude, just look at Diego ninja costume, that can't be labeled as "they made the best they can".

There is no lack of talent at Team NINJA. Not only that but Team NINJA takes a lot of shit and ultimately doesn't call the shots. I facilitate anger I have with this game to KT. And you saying "all the reports in this thread are correct" LMFAO I'm just too tired to do this shit with you. I (and other poor people) know how an argument goes with you, it never ends and by the time there is a chance for it to you wish you were dead.

I'm good I wave my white flag. Tyaren is a god. Everyone here is right. Whatever it takes to not have a conversation with you.

Why are people acting like it’s all Koei Tecmo’s fault. So far I know the director of the game decides the direction a game goes into in terms of lazy DLC choices. People forget that Koei Tecmo is the publisher and not necessarily the developer. People like to point fingers at Koei Tecmo whole it’s mostly just TeamNinja that’s ruining the game.

Anyway, this thread is growing on me.... like a rash.

You should reread your post again.... you know, about not returning? It seems that you forget that you said you don’t want to return to this thread, yet you return at every chance you get to respond again. We’ve been trying to move on, but you keep derailing the thread over and over again. You don’t have to like the thread, but don’t deliberately try to make the mods close this thread, simply because people call out your arguments.

I think TN's art department is more or less non-existent these days. The only major improvement 6 had over 5 was lighting, and that's just hardware really. The actual art direction and character/stage designs are terrible, especially compared against DOA2-4. Someone should look into who's actually making the games now, because I doubt many of the artists from Itagaki era are still around. It's most likely a whole different team.

Here the issue is when the game doesn't even have proper UV mapping and skinning.

For that you don't need a super creative mind, you only need versed 3D artists. Here is when they prove they don't give a shit about quality since this game 3D artists are just cheap workers outside Team Ninja unlike back in DOA5.

I'll just throw out a few thoughts in here...

Remember that there is a difference between aesthetics and graphics. The former is based on taste, the latter not so much. The former focuses more on art style, the latter is more technical. So you can have a graphically inferior game and have superior aesthetics, or a graphically superior game have worse aesthetics. An older but prime example here is the likes of Uncharted 2 being praised as the best looking game within that console generation, while being technically inferior to many other titles on that same platform and on the competitor's platform.

While graphics do have value, they are at a point where they are far from the most important thing in a game. If it was the most important, something like Minecraft would have never been able to be successful. The same applies to DOA really. Although DOA does have a huge part of its appeal in aesthetically pleasing visuals, the gameplay is, at least to me, more important. I have little use for the difference between rounded and non-rounded butts when I'm in the middle of a fight. I do understand the issue in Photo Mode, and there is little reason that they cannot increase quality in these instances, similar to how racing games have their replays play at a higher quality than during real-time gameplay.

If anything, the faults in the graphics are a sign of something else. Another issue within the game's development, be it budget, time, lack of structure, lack of morale at the studio or a bunch of other possibilities. And I say this, because the whole game is just as jagged (pun intended) as some of the graphical issues pointed out in here. The whole game lacks polish, and fixing the graphics will not fix the game's issues. A game with great graphics does not mean that it's polished, although the opposite is generally true (a polished game will have good graphics). Prime example? Mass Effect Andromeda. It has arguably the most beautiful environments in a video game, and well, the game was the most unpolished garbage there is.

So note that while these graphical issues might be important, fixing them will not really improve the game itself. Team Ninja needs to fix their internal issues before, before we can actually get somewhere. And I don't see this happening for this game. Hopefully, it will for the next DOA game.
