It’s because Ninja Gaiden was another one of Itagaki’s babies - they wanted something successful that didn’t have his face and history all over it. I wasn’t surprised NG3 was not up to my standards, but I still had a little fun with it.

People will always be praising NG one way or another. Ninja Gaiden and Black were respectively some of the best games ever made.

And just in defense of myself before I’m told I don’t like Nioh or some other stupid shit I don’t want to see - I played Nioh enjoyed it and didn’t come back to it. That’s really all. Do I want another new series from Team NINJA? No, I really don’t. Do I expect it? Yes. Why? Because it’s not what I want.

I honestly wish DOATEC_Official would stop making these general question tweets until they have something to announce because then they're making room for all these irrelevant "I uninstalled" and negative comments to flood their comments section xD I hope we'll get something new soon because they don't need to be tweeting unless they're building up to an announcement

If a new game plus can be added to the first Ninja Gaiden in the Master Collection everything will be alright. Maybe fix the dash in Ninja Gaiden 3 if they can
Fix the dash in 3 but not in Sigma 1? Interesting priority.

I mean, yeah. But honestly, so is Nioh. The broad popularity/reverence expressed by "people" means little, especially when I'm quite confident that most of them know fuck all about the finer intricacies and nuances of all the games in question.

Ah, yes. The Itagaki standard. People will always be praising Dead or Alive Xtreme 2 and Devil's Third in one way or another.

Here let me put it this way: NGB will never be forgotten and I believe that someday Nioh and Nioh 2 will. There were already contenders for that type of game that people thought were better. No game could compete with NG at the time. There was DMC3 which was decent and God of War 1 and 2... two of the easiest games ever made in the genre. Without the fancy budget, God of War is a crap series with crap developers behind it.

Say what you want about DOAX2 but that game was a lot of fun actually. If you like puzzles the slide mini game is tougher than anything in the God of War series. And as far as Devil’s Third. I thought that was fun as well, but people get mad about that one.

The thing is 95 percent of the people that talk about Devil’s Third never played it or even watched a trailer.

As someone that doesn't play Nioh seriously at all, and as someone that is as active as someone can be with Ninja Gaiden, I can say how wrong this statement is.

Nioh 2 players are sticking with it, and they are going to stick with it for the years to come, I bet down the years you'll still see whitegoat or other players doing crazy content for the game.

As someone that doesn’t play Nioh seriously at all you really can’t come close to making those kind of calls. As far as being as active as someone can be in Ninja Gaiden... uh okay. Have you beat the game without getting hit once in Master Ninja? Because that would then make your statement true.

Nioh 2 has been out for a little over a year with some content to keep it going . A year from now little to nobody will be playing it save speed-runners and a few extra people that like taking down the same slow, redundant and boring bosses.

A more concrete truth would be to see if it gets a remaster 10 years down the line like the NG collection coming to you this summer.

Don’t get me wrong. Nioh is good. For Hayashi. NG without the Black is better than the entire Nioh franchise. The second game clearly wasn’t ready to be launched on PS4 and the Itagaki I know would have never let that sort of thing happen. The game chugged like a steam engine and that sort of quality can’t come close to blowing NG or NGB out of the winner’s circle.

If you think that is the sole proof of skill in any Ninja Gaiden, then you don't understand Ninja Gaiden at all.

A year from now little to nobody will be playing it save speed-runners and a few extra people that like taking down the same slow, redundant and boring bosses.

Shows that you really are not aware of the existing scene of the Nioh series either.

So you don't understand a thing about either Ninja Gaiden or Nioh, nothing to gain here.

Feel you there lol. Yeah there's two people within that twitter account I think. It's Manny and another new person that was hired to manage the FB pages back when DOA6 was released. Unfortunately it's their job to keep the posts active for good reason. As much as there is negative comments, they always know that it's best to ignore it.

Personally I don't mind active posts though, but I agree that I do wish there is more actual life behind such posts yeah (least with DOA), otherwise I just skim past it super fast. Take a look at ArcSysWorks page for example where there is pure life that often can be comedic. ArcSys even photoshops silly things, using modern memes such as pepe frog / froge, bonk doge and so on while actively chatting with people in the comments, jokingly making fun of Sony and Namco's media twitter accounts throwing jabs at them while they jokingly respond back etc. Nothing but pure amusement that I just don't see it on any of TN twitter pages. But I think they are slowly opening up to it with Nioh 2, and then probably DOA at some point. I think everything started with Wendy's and then ArcSys took note of how active and fun that is because everyone knows how savage Wendy's can get lol. Whoever is managing the Wendy's fast food media account deserves a raise.

Or they could just make a 3rd official account where they aren't afraid to do so like SF or ArcSys. Otherwise just hire me on that account and I'll make daily memes while jokingly throw jabs at other fighting games in a very clean fashion, not very hard to do actually. Photoshop is getting simpler in this day and age.

If I had a choice I'd take Ninja Gaiden Black over Nioh easily. Nioh suffers a bit from the fact that the game is basically a soulsborne clone. It's a good soulsborne clone that shows how pitifully flawed From Software's games are, though it still feels like it's mostly cashing on the success of the soulsborne trend.

Ninja Gaiden feels like its own entity. Nothing matches the experience of a good Ninja Gaiden game. However, I do agree that games like NG3 can move into the realm of absurd a little bit whereas, Nioh 1 & 2 are: "What you see is what you get" games.

Not the sole proof of skill, but the epitome of which you can claim IMO.

you might be right about Nioh. I definitely enjoy the series, but neither games will ever be the masterpiece that NGB was and that might seem negative, but it was a post against Brute more than it was yourself.

I believe that Brute said some bs that wasn’t worth breaking down any other way and he knows it. Ninja Gaiden Black is the best action adventure there ever will be.

I felt like the boss variety was a lot more interesting than most of the Nioh bosses, but I do realize that is a subjective opinion.

Also he did not like Sigma 2 which I think is bonkers. There are a few things about it where NGII was superior, but overall Sigma 2 is an unmatched experience in terms of large amounts of content and super fun extras.

Nioh was a great franchise, and I support it - but to me the legacy of the Ninja Gaiden trilogy was more important to me. Especially considering that I played the NES games before the mind blowing revival of the franchise.

NG was the experience I needed and nothing felt like it. At the end of the day Nioh is a great copy cat and is frequently used by Sony fanboys to back there once upon a time exclusive excuse as to how their system is the best. ;) I’m proud of Team NINJA for that aspect because the Sony fanboys have a lot of exclusives they like to reference and their game is one of them.

What I know is that I'm more experienced and knowledgeable in both series than you.

NG:B is not flawless, and certainly doesn't invalidate all action games "there ever will be." Quit talking out your ass.

The Niohs outclass all the NGs with respect to "large amounts of content and super fun extras." You'll need a better excuse.

Not really. The epitome of patience for sure, but every No damage run of NG that exists currently (Black, Sigma, 2 and Sigma 2), consists of careful planning, bunch of resets and using the path of least resistance.

And while it is something impressive in itself, it doesn't show what the Ninja Gaiden series offers mechanically, or the limits of skill that can be obtained.

I can go into detail if you want, but basic examples.

In a no damage run, you can't use guards against guard breaking attacks that deal chip damage, because that would ruin the no damage part, but when it comes to combat, it is a valid strategy.

Moves with super armor also enter into that segment. And how you interact with enemies change as well, if you want no damage, you back off and get UTs, and chain UTs, which means missing the incredible moveset you're given on those games.

There have been crazier things done before on NG than doing no damage runs, like completing the UN trials in NG3RE solo without abusing the scythe.

@Sotherius I can be more accommodating to your nature of response.

Brute you are a very special person. I dislike you on one hand, but on the other you amuse me. You know next to nothing about my skill level, and I guarantee you I know more about yours. In offline DOA5 setting I would humiliate your Hayabusa (easily) and I think you would learn to talk to me differently.

People have dismissed me as the guy that writes articles for tournaments and doesn’t show up to offline events, but the truth is I’ve been ready to whoop your ass in a fair environment for a long time.

To me that comment is a call out and I’ll go ahead and take it seriously. You name the place and time and I will seriously take the words out of your mouth.

You are just as arrogant as anyone and I think you need that ass whoopin that will humble you. Based off what I’ve seen your talk is much bigger than your gameplay so I’ll take your comment to the trash can... like I do a good sum majority of the things you say here. :)

Well, we basically already did this song and dance in Oct of 2019. It was online but I mean, online doesn't solely explain how lopsided that set was.

But in this hypothetical scenario where you beat my Hayabusa (who isn't even my main anymore, but cool), I wouldn't then magically think "Oh, he beat me at DOA, so therefore he must also know a lot more than me about Nioh and Ninja Gaiden, two completely different games!"

But I don't talk to people differently based on their skill level in random games, nor did I even say anything directly about your skill level.

What I actually said is that I believe that I am more "experienced" and "knowledgeable" in Nioh and Ninja Gaiden, meaning that I have spent more time with those games and have a better understanding of their mechanical and structural intricacies and how they compare to one another. That is an entirely unrelated argument to "Hurr durr I'm moar skillful then u at vidya gamez."

So you'll have to forgive me if I'm reluctant to haul my ass around to find you offline to challenge you in a mostly dead game in a pointless effort to persuade you about a totally unrelated point concerning two completely different video games.

You didn’t say you believe. You said that you were. I believe you like to talk a big game and I would like to prove something to you. :)

Calling it a dead game does not change that it is in fact a great game. Not to mention it has been coming back through many online tournaments due to COVID-19.

The only thing you're proving right now is how thin skinned you are.

I am more experienced and knowledgeable about Nioh and Ninja Gaiden than you, and that's not a notion one would contest by challenging someone to DOA. I've determined this not because of how "skilled" you are in playing any game, but because of how you discuss the games (which expresses one's knowledge of them). For example, I have given very specific reasons why I prefer II vanilla over Sigma 2. Your response was to misinterpret my preference as "not liking" Sigma 2, (which is inaccurate), declaring that "bonkers," only to then justify your preference by simply stating "Sigma 2 is an unmatched experience in terms of large amounts of content and super fun extras." That demonstrates a pretty superficial comprehension of the differences between the two versions and doesn't offer any actual points of discussion. It's a generic opinion devoid of substance or deeper analysis.

But for what it's worth, I'm pretty outspoken in how little fucks I give about how good people are at video games. You could suck all manner of hell at DOA, NG or Nioh and it wouldn't matter in the slightest, provided that you actually had an intricate understanding the games in question. In dialogue, I care only about how well someone comprehends the subject at hand and how astutely they can articulate their thoughts. The fact that you think that beating me at an unrelated video game would "prove" anything to me is downright bizarre. Whatever grudge you have about how you think you've been condescended or whatever means absolutely nothing to me.

You cared enough to post. The fact that you think you are more knowledgeable about NG is the bizarre thing because you have absolutely no proof or accolades that I have ever heard of. I took ten days to respond to this bs comment because I’m not all that worried about what someone like you think.

You act and you really are not that special. If I say one thing about Nioh I don’t like you come in like you are a god of every Team NINJA game. Lol.

My reasons are not superficial... Sigma II is a lot more fun than the original 360 version for me. Difficulty aside. I don’t have anything to prove to you. I can beat any of the NG games on highest difficulty and have completed all the trials in 3.

When I first came to this forum I thought you were an idiot that hides behind words and I still think you are that same idiot today that would get ram fucked at any offline he goes to and then gets mad at the game instead of getting better.

There is literally no point in speaking to you if you're going to be this stupid.

The only stupid decision I made was speaking to you in the first place. I don’t need to prove anything to you, but I can. Not that hard to rationalize.
