  • been watching alot of the newish doa6 footage, and there seem to be alot of instances where the sidestep attack is putting the sidestepper right behind the opponent, or dam near close to it

    I thought at EVO'18 it looked like normal sidesteps can almost circle behind opponents too. Either way, I like having an SS that doesn't get fucked by "linear" attacks anymore.

    Atm the moment it looks like retracking linear strings are a thing of the past, horray for that

    Only for the attack. The characters still retrack if you just neutral side step.

    Yeah I imagine a lot of ppl are gonna be mad at this show given that it has no qualms being ultra violent and brutal to its moe girl leads. It's to be expected
    think i'll just main Bayo and Cloud in smash ultimate. why learn 80+ match ups with fun low tiers when i can just pick the characters with the most oppressive options who also happen to be fun

    The reason why it's like that is because of the input buffer window on moves to allow for leniency on the reading of inputs/directions. For instance Tekken doesn't have much of an input buffer so moves connect on the given frame i.e. -10 can be punished by i10. As a result Tekken has much less leniency and more pickiness on move inputs.

    In DOA, only the guard executes without a frame delay. The throw being 1 frame 'slower' is because of the frame for registering a 'hit' happened. Basically DOA is honest about its frame data. In other games they have the same 1 frame difference to register a hit, but they just hide it by including that first frame as the last startup frame. For DOA, attacks are an additional frame because of the string system.

    The string system waits a frame to make sure you aren't hitting P then H for a T attempt due to mistiming, or that you meant to do 3K when you pressed K3.

    I don't think i've heard it, but he's always said some funny stuff in the past. For example in the first Evo tournament for SF4 his plan was to choose Seth against Daigo should they meet because "He probably hasn't had the match up experience.". I find it funny because while technically maybe true, he's choosing his game plan to be both a guess and a reaction to the opponent's style over his own style.
    Tira's moves that drain her own health better have some awesome frame data , I need this game in my hands!

    Probably similar to how she is in SCV. And yes, she generally has good frame data/hit properties to compensate. Gloomy Tira was basically the best character in SCV.

    When she beats Bass in tournament he'll be all, "You got what it takes kid, why not become a part of team muscle" she'll obviously join then she'll have her own trenchcoat, that's when they'll truly become the trenchcoat mafia lol

    actually those might just be the collosuem angel statues now that i've flipped the image and zoomed in on them. I just saw chick with wings in doa concept art and my first thought was nyotengu lol

    a nyotengu rival huh, that'd be dope, i am contractually obliged to play any character with wings so yeah, bring it on!
    experimented with button layouts for SC6 and for some reason having the block button as a shoulder button feels alot better than having it as a face button

    but i do the same thing in VF and MK so i guess it makes sense, but in DOA i have block set to a face button lol

    In DOA you can have 2 block buttons easily: one face button, and one shoulder button, along with being able to block by holding back. A shoulder button lets you block faster, but I prefer breaking throws with a shoulder button. SCVI will likely require more macros than DOA6 due to SC having 3 primary attack buttons as opposed to DOA's 2 (I.e. more potential combinations with A, B, K & G as opposed to just P, K & G)

    yeah, i forget that SC has hella macros, but honestly i don't use that many macros when i play on pad, as long the button combination aren't too akward id rather press 2 buttons simultaneously, unless it's a 3 button press
