  • An example showing how people actually see DOA. No mentions or complaints about it being too "anime" but a ton of mentions about fanservice. They didn't even look at the more interesting and serious fighting styles. They could have edited out the all fanservice talks and commented on the fighting style of characters like Hayate, Eliot, Hitomi, Lei Fang, or Christie.

It would have went differently if they made the effort to choose the costumes that weren't revealing. I can't take it seriously when instead of choosing say Helena or Tina in their casual gear or older fighting defaults, they opt to choose the deluxe costumes which are both obvious aimed at overt fanservice

They did look quite objectively at the fighting styles. They just had some moments of laughter because of how ridiculous some of these costumes are. They could’ve edited out, but why should they edit it out? Clearly TN and KT want this to be the reputation of DOA.

@KasumiLover Yeah. They went out of their way to do that. It just shows how the fighting aspect takes a back seat when people see or think of DOA.
Hopefully DOA6 spends a long time in the arcades so TN can monitor and adjust it before they release another console version. Create some new characters so people want to go to the arcades too.

Thing is, with COVID being around people won't be going to the arcades anytime soon anyhow, Mikado, which is one of the most important game centers/arcades for Xrd REV2, rarely has any players playing the game there and I don't think that it is that way just for that game. Jiyuna had a video on this about arcades not as huge as Mikado needing to close for good and even the big ones that can remain open

thanks to the donations that they've got are not having many players there due to COVID. Arcades, even if they won't disappear completely, are taking massive L's right now.

I didn't know arcades were hit that bad. I assumed they were doing ok because Shimbori talked about it at the round table, but even if people can't go to the arcades TN should still add new characters to at least get people's attention. Make people see it as DOA6 with more stuff. Get people talking and interested.
And there's already "issues" with Nagoriyuki. Japan, better just ignore the west and especially America when it comes to BS stuff like this.

Even though his name has one of the simplest pronunciations ever when it comes to any japanese names. Its not only with characters like him though, Zasalamel's name gets mispronounced a lot too, even though I feel that his name is quite simple as well, can't say it out? Just say Zas, people will know what character you're referring too, I never found and will find mispronunciations funny.

@Onryoki The swordsman of whom there was a short trailer without any context like a good couple of months ago, we've finally seen a gameplay trailer of him and Leo (still can't believe that him of all the characters made it back into the game, part of the base roster no less) during the fg roundtable meeting for Strive.

@ChaolanLegacy That's why it's annoying. The name is pronounced exactly as it is spelled but people are already reaching to create "issues". Zasalamel's name is simple to say and I'm pretty sure the announcer even says his name in game. It takes like 3 sec to look at every syllable in these names and string them together.
GG is on a roll with all these character designs and Nagoriyuki is looking like a beast. This is how you make characters interesting DOA.
Usually people say there's nowhere else to go but up, however this is DOA we're talking about. Somehow rock bottom isn't the lowest they can go. I'm praying they learned their lesson.
DOA is like a drug. I know it's bad but I'm still excited even though I know I'm just going to be disappointed again.

It's best to play in combination with other games. DOA 6 isn't highly solid on its own, but it's very good at training pattern recognition and that carries over to other games.

True. DOA has helped me in other games by forcing me to take a different approach, but I haven't touched DOA6 in a long time and nothing so far has made me want to go back to it. Hopefully this upcoming event will somehow change that.
Games might cost more for the next gen consoles, but games that came out for this gen have been either watered down or incomplete. We might be paying more for less content in the coming years. Especially for fighting games where being bare bones is basically the norm.
DOA6 should have been a game for the PS5.

Or you know, since it’s a new game. Come up with new content to make players not feel like they wasted their money on a game.

DOA6 technically has more content than DOA5. Only DOA5LR has more content than DOA6 and it's the 4th iteration of DOA5. DOA6 can still come to PS5 if KT/TN decide to release a "DOA6U".

Just an optimistic view that that 1 extra year could have been enough time to make DOA6 good if they had planned to release it as a PS5 title. But, on the other hand DOA6 bombing at the end of a generation is better than it bombing at the start of the new generation. DOA can still recover I hope.
They're finally killing DOA6? It looks like they can do something right for once.

killing it easy, reviving it back is another matter
Maybe one day I'll finally drink the DOA Kool-Aid so I can see this hidden identity DOA has.
Well, that was something. I never knew the thought of considering the other side and other elements was such a hated idea here.

lol btw I don't feel isolated or like a victim. Like I said, I've been here long enough to know the do's and don't within the community. I like DOA but I am not going to conform to this place's standards.

If something don't make sense then I'm going to question it. E.g. Hating Nico over blue hair and lightning and "anime". If something is clearly one sided then I'm going to question it. E.g. Bringing up DOA's character ratio but avoiding to do the same for other games. If I'm being ignored because I'm not following the crowd then I'm fine with that too.

Why do you keep bringing the Nico situation up when it’s already more than a year ago? Like, does it affect you that much???
That recent discussion reminded me of the Jeremy Lin incident. Imagine the reactions if it was flipped.
Since DOA6 decided to add meter and random meter based mechanics just because other games were doing it, TN should copy GBVS's idea and implement a cooldown system to all the holds so people can't throw them out whenever.

Hale no. I like to throw so keep guessing bitch. The player isn't going to win if they are guessing over and over again anyway.

Maybe they can do it in DOA7 if they really want DOA to be taken seriously instead of half assing it like they did with DOA6. Adding cosmetics and effects doesn't really make the game more serious. Something HAS to change.

I said ages ago that you shouldn't be rewarded for using low hold to dodge highs but TN made that an actual thing in the training. Also you shouldn't be rewarded by mashing 2 or even 3 holds back to back. The damage of the hold should be reduced if you mash it and extended recovery time of the hold animation if unsuccessful.
I've been playing 2D fighters so much that I miss having a 3D fighter to play. SC just doesn't feel as good as DOA and Tekken, but DOA6 sucks and T7's movement is still too weird. Idk why but give me anything in a 2D game no matter how hard and I'm willing spend hours to learn it. But Tekken's movement? It just doesn't feel right. I want to play a good DOA again...
@Danharhar said it best. "I seriously enjoyed playing DoA 5 due to it's mechanics and gameplay but at the rate the franchise is going just purely on dlc and marketing, it's not gonna grow at all." Back when anyone can tell DOA5 was a legitimate fighting game if they just took 1 second to look. Now people don't even consider looking at DOA6.

Well yeah that was kinda the point, with the more realistic artstyle, muted colors, the "I'm a fighter" campaign, and adding in SF style ultras, the whole point of the game was to shed it's previous skin and go "I'm a big boy fighting game now", so i agree with you, but does that mean that doa5's gameplay was the high point of its evolution? Not even close

I wouldn't know in terms of gameplay comparison. I was only referring to the community's population and general interest.

Lol thanks for the mention. Appreciated.
I dream of a day when the DOA team is competent and makes a legitimate good game with no more DLC costumes and the community grows like the UNIEST community. No BS. Just a good game and a good community inviting others in.

Only DOA plyers are fine with what TN is doing and it is illogical to think that new people will ignore it all just because the DOA community says to do so.

How do you know it wasn't the higher ups at KT though? let me point out that DOA6 was stacked to a lower budget from what I hear. Nioh 2 on the other hand had the team's full attention and budget. Who allows TN to do all this? *Drum roll*, here it comes:

    Koei Tecmo.

Let me also remind you that I am not a sheep to DOA6 nor to DOA's pure scheming marketing tactics because I could care less with what happens to DOA6 if it had a downfall lololol. It's just that people have a habit to point fingers at something without taking the time to look outside the box before jumping to conclusions.
