  • One thing I do appreciate about FG accessibility, at least for intermediates like me is getting to the human element sooner. I always hate when I play people that I know for a fact are hiding weaknesses behind a character or mechanic.
Playing BBTAG actually makes me appreciate the games the characters came from and the meta/options behind them. You don't realize how much you've learned until it's taken away.
I wonder how many people suffer from procrastination to the point when they finally decided to do things, it had to be during COVID19? A lot of shops and businesses are closed. Now, you can't get anything important done.

Made me realize just how we expect everything to just work due to someone else being there. Our rights/freedoms, feels like they're being limited or taken away. This is a learning experience and wake up call for me...

Aren't essential jobs still going where you are, like grocery stores?

Nah, meant more like, seeking employment or needing to go to a government facility or DMV for New IDs. I need a new Social Security card and also wanted to upgrade my regular ID to a permit maybe to get a license. NYC had good transportation but all those things are on hault.
I kind of want the FGC to acknowledge the CoD community's ignorant backlash of SBMM. It's a regular thing for FGs in order to improve. If they said that about a FG, they'd be considered scrubs. They act as if your Rank and Skills is absolute. If you lose, you'll go back to the kiddie pool. That's just how it is. They don't like getting exposed.

To be completely honest, I understand the argument against SBMM to a degree. The issue really isn't the fact that SBMM exists, but the fact that it's forced within every game mode. And in a game where SBMM can be hella aggressive, it can be quite annoying where a couple of matches you're just vibin and you have some good games and then the next step up plays like sweats.

This is the whole reason why ranked playlists/social playlists existed in different games. SBMM when you want the challenge, regular matchmaking when you just wanna play.

My issue with is how the topic is being communicated. The pros almost advocate the behavior of giving up. We're all just saying SBMM this and that but never go into the details as to why it truly an issue. TheOneBoom agrees with me when I think the skill of players nowadays has increased because games are such a common medium. People are simply more willing to improve.
Anyone else feels like they love fighting games because it makes them unique in the sphere of gaming culture as a whole? Especially among your cicrles. More so than RPGS would for others. That's my push to play them. Just hard to match-make because people perceive FGs as too difficult w/o realizing they're enjoyable on all levels.

FGs have been my fave genre since I played SF2, Fatal Fury 2, and other SNES FGs in the 90s. In my entire life of playing FGs, most of my time has been spent playing them single player, actually. I occasionally played with my bro/cousins though, and some friends I had back in the day.

I'd never been too interested to play any kind of game online, though, even in FGs. I think I first tried out going online around 2005 playing KOFs with people from Cyberfanatix (KOF fansite) using Kaillera, as I just wanted to play casual matches with some ppl I knew on that site. But until DOA5 I never even wanted to get competitive.

Now, FGs are the only kind of game I will play online, but I'd be playing them just as much if I couldn't go online.
Kind of wish an English professor could answer this question for me. However, I'm curious enough to ask here because Google doesn't help. Does slang & regional dialects overcome grammar rules?

But the ultimate outcome is that there is no answer, as long as the political environment you live in is tolerant of regional deviance in the spoken language.

Not all countries have education systems that are.

Definitely confirmed what my mind was thinking. I really appreciate that answer. It is just that grammar nazis come off as pedantic but sometimes I wonder if they ever had good intentions in spite of everything.

Preservation of culture is a double-edged sword.

I'm multilingual myself, and it's hard to beat strict English grammar for specificity of expression. That being said, stifling cultural development to maintain a documentation tool is a questionable intention.

But then, so is scrapping said tool for "sorted, innit, blood."

    Humanity was a mistake :p
Anyone else feel like it's too easy to block and run away from people in KOF14? Like I get punishing rolls and stuff but you'd be surprised how little you get to do what you want. GGXRD had this same issue but more so.

The idea is to space themselves away from an enemy and plan their next move. However, there is a point to be made: A lot of KOFXIV players online do not actually have a strategy and they will do what you describe without any applications to speak of (applications: projectiles or long-range moves for whiff punishment).

To address this, you can probably also play the waiting game, specifically after getting the life lead (assuming the opponent is semi-competent) and let them try to advance only to kill themselves. Or, if you notice them being too passive, empty short hop into low/throw can be your scrub-killer.

You took this comment as if I don't know general KoF tactics to beat scrubs. I do that too well actually. This is more so towards intermediate to high level play. Since I myself know how to get away. Also, I mentioned I punish rolls but the thing is that you do have to wait for that opportunity. You don't have to engage that way tho always bc you end up waiting 4 no reason
I like how Sega owns all the property rights for all the anime fighters, but since they don't directly make moves but Arcsys does, shit gets done. Otherwise we'd probably be waiting more long for those game releases just like VF.
There's people that feel as though Ranks should be taken away from FGs. Considering the nuances and the fact you can look amazing one day and horrible another. Overall knowledge isn't translated well. Esp with Tekken and GBFV Skills aren't predetermined like enemies in an RPG Region.

Yet these idiots want to make a 250K Tournament to be online for the 2020 Olympics. Jeez....
    Force_of_Nature
    Force_of_Nature
There's basically a 0.1% chance of FG's being at the Olympics. An esport like CS: GO, Fortnite, COD, LoL, Dota, or Overwatch have a much higher chance of getting "Olympic consideration". Also, damn, just remembered that the 2018 Olympics was in South Korea, where esports are national sports haha.

You don't know about the SFV tournament at the Olympics that will be shown to the Olympic crowd but not actually an event? Intel is hosting it. This will be a test for that sorta thing but it's not a case where they'll be winning medals. They will however, have national teams.

You ever feel like insomnia is not a real thing for YOU? Like you don't sleep because you just want to not sleep.
Do You guys think DoA6 lost hope in being a DoA game that can be viewed as a serious competitive fighter? A-Yay B-Nay C Unsure For US as players that is. Not for anyone else.

Part of this to blame is the budget, which in turns leaves to one source of conclusion. KT. Because of KT's action and how they are influenced by Japan's side, we can't exactly throw those people under the bus for not being convinced to try it because it didn't leave an impact behind. On top of the general competition vs every other fighting game with what they provide on options.
    DestructionBomb
    DestructionBomb
However I don't entirely disagree with you FoN on the stigma vs the whole FGC and casual FGC populace, on top of additional problems behind it that doesn't really help including some bits of the gameplay. DOA doesn't grow up because KT doesn't grow up. Team NINJA knows more about DOA than their own publishers. DOA deserves a better company to treat the series better, and we all know it sadly.
    Force_of_Nature
    Force_of_Nature
KT is the reason why DOA6 is hard to promote to newer players. Their attitude toward the franchise is counter-productive. Though, on the otherhand, the otaku whales really don't do the franchise any favours competitively.
One of my friends says fighting games seem outdated to him because they're stuck on a 2D plane. That they should have evolved into some action game or Naruto Storm. I tried to tell him that Toshinden and Power Stone are kinda what he described. Says he feels too limited. I don't understand casuals.
DoA got so out of hand with their DLC practices that it garnered attention from the, "Dude-bro" side of gamers. Which irks me bc they wouldn't pay attention to fighters any other way. They don't understand our culture. That our games have been doing this for years before EA did lol
Not sure if this every Latino family but compared to Asian households or w/e if you're not a close friend or a family member, you can't take your shoes off in our house. That's like, an honor. Be harder to get you out the house. Meanwhile, I'm barefoot in this bitch.

People need to get it in their thick skills that it I don't see their fg as a game that teaches me useful skills to transfer to another game and it actually harms my playestyle in my favorite fgs. Then no, your game isn't the technical masterpiece they claim it to be. It was meant to be a braindead game with little depth bc people like playing like that. Well, I don't.
