  • IDK exactly why people that don't play FGs always are allured by Tekken/SC and even owned them along with Tenkaichi. To me, it almost put those games near Tenkaichi levels of competence. It goes, arena FG>EveryDoAbut5>RandomObscureFGs>Tekken>SC>SF>VSgames>BB/GG/UNI>VF in terms of how serious I should take your FG. This includes, Labbing and feeling a type a way on loss

@Hold_Junkie93 I always said this just because something is the king or the granddaddy doesn't mean it should automatically be popular. Mvci was a game i hoped for then dbfz just came and stole the show because of lack of quality. Also T7 threw in a bunch of 2D characters to gain new players from other fighters akuma/geese etc. The fgc today is about hype factor.

There is a BIG difference with 90's-00's era compared to now.

Today we have : Internet, online, social medias, YouTube, forums, Twitch and streams, Reddit, Discord...

There is A LOT more exposure for fighting games than ever.

If fighting games was also big +20 years ago, it's because it was the birth (boom) of a new genre, and arcade was still a thing.

People are more disingenuous now because of social media.

Issue is that with more and more people getting into fighting games, some even competitively, a certain balance in the game needs to be achieved imo, also, character variety for a fighting game is a factor that can make the game more interesting/fun to watch (remember when Infiltration pulled out the Hakan?) but this balance at times comes with the game becoming unfun.

Making a fighting game balanced and fun at the same time while introducing new mechanics that might make a newcomer try out the game while not making the veteran angry because of just how effective the mechanic is and leaving the gameplay relatively the same so that veterans have an advantage over the newer players is a delicate balance that can't be achieved too easily.
Does someone who took the time to become good at a game, still have a life? Or is it reflecting of the hard work that individual is capable of doing? So, then, it isn't really a, "Game" anymore. It's work. Though, most good video gamers have succeeded in life in 1 or 2 aspects, I've noticed. My conclusion, is real losers are the ones who can't get good.
It's going to bug me when all non-VF players will have more popular streamers for new VF. Giving out half-wrong info. VFDC and I won't get much viewers.

That's the way it is. VFDC better get their key influencers out there now.

Exposure is fine, just trying to keep the new players from leaving and keep it growing will be good.

My boy Cruz taught Spooky and Art everything they know. They stream for our tournaments. So, we got the potential exposure.
Xbox is like the anime fighting games of naming. Guilty Gear X, Guilty Gear Xrd, Undernight In-Birth [ST] Undernight In-Birth cl-r etc. Yet those still make more sense than Microsoft's.

Alot of consumers ended up buying the xbox one s instead of pre-ordering the series s. Most likely parents getting an early christmas gift. A mistake on Microsoft's part

I'm laughing my ass off at the people that bought an Xbox One X thinking that it's an Xbox Series X.
Shout outs to people who have money during a pandemic to preorder next-gen consoles. Unemployment is at a record high and now, I'm wondering how many people have essential jobs, want to take that risk or are streamers. I was hoping that people would understand poverty w/COVID but shoulda known better w/ all the Toilet paper sales
Got Tekken 7 on PC. Seems to be doing fine but as a base point for how I want to set things ups, I needed to know. What are the console equivalent settings for the PC?

Haha....Only reason I bought the PC version is so, I can play my friend again who knows how to feel input delay fairly too well and quit the PS4 ver. He says input delay doesn't bother me since I've Akira knee'd 3× in a combo under bad conditions. I wonder if anyone knows what are the Graphics values actually.

idk i just know the korean players just grind alot instead of console.
Anyone feel like pad has an advantage over stick in terms of blocking Xups beyond just your ability? I feel like Xups were initially designed with the intent of messing up someone's joystick by forcing them to drag for a particular window of time in which it will mess up the player but pads kind of lessened those windows of mistakes by letting you instantly move over in a micro second faster than a stick ever will

pad or stick i can't block cross ups for shit lol

probably cause most of the fighting games I played either had block buttons or some form of cross up protection (i.e if you are crossed up during a true block string you can block either way), I did not come up during SF2 ambiguous tatsu cross up days so it's a skill my fighting game brain has little experience in

I know KoF has a lot of, no xup-xups in which they look like they'll xup but don't. I think it's about mostly understanding how you yourself xup and then assuming others will try the same at times. Getting a feel for jump arc in general and knowing if the match up has a unique x up helps I think.
So, why can the Souls Series and its fanbase keep the difficulty for legacy reasons but for some reason FGs can't do that and risk being inclusive? Oh, because difficulty was turned to a meme for DS. How we do that with FGs? lol FGs have been around longer, like what?? Starting to believe From Soft are ex fighting game devs. Backwards af.

    @DestructionBomb I knew it!
@Camel with 2 thumbs What you think of Demon Souls Remastered on PS5? It seemed like dude had a 1 hit code or something. Or perhaps it was a relatively leveled up dude from what it looks like anyway. However, I remember the stream questioning that, calling it Journalist mode lol

Because E-sports. They need to get as many people playing as quickly as possible. If your game is too difficult, folks are going to play something else. At least that's my understanding, but somewhat true. I often seen comments on SRK from gamers saying they wouldn't get into VF because of the stigma that it's too difficult.

Demon Souls remake looks fire, but i don't think there was any fancy code or anything being used, more than likely the player had over leveled equipment because the armor and shield he was using wasn't something you're supposed to have at that point of the game, the only thing that threw me off was the lack of deflection on his shield, but i can't tell if that was demo specific or Demon's souls specific

I told him that SC seems to have a set of choices you have in any given situation and it's the only fighter that seems to let the same shit kinda get to you or if you know frames by the book it's kinda hard to get someone to break beyond BA, now, that throws are rendered useless in 6. I said, VF also would have this issue but the dynamic of the sidestep changing the frame data on evade breaks the monotony.

Yeah, Sophie has 1K, but it isn't part of the entire package of the experience and irrelevant to my viewpoint. Just decided to play her to change the pace from Tira a bit. I'm having fun with the game, which IDKY he think I'm complaining, I'm not. The one thing we agree on is that Soul Charge is dumb, brave edge was better because it came out of nowhere and wasn't predicted based on an activation

Played SCV again and holy shit, it felt nice having oki again. Wow. Of course equally annoying for me but holy shit.
If I couldn't jive with UNI, would I even like MB? I feel like my char choice, I never owned the game, my boi using scrub killer Byakuya who has holes but the only 2 moves I feel work are sweeps & DP made me judge the game too early. After realizing it might be my playstyle, I'm kinda upset @Myself esp. In this FG climate of Zzzz iterations of games Rather be stuck figuring out than a game feeling figured out already

I just looked at the combo structure and thought, this looks feasible. If what I'm noticing to be correct, the moons denote a type of playstyle, kinda like -isms but it's a difficulty level with whatever character it seems? I don't care about BS as much as I do getting into how to go about playing with agency & intentionality. If I can hop in, get a combo here & there, I'm good at that front.

When I played UNIST my friend let me try it. I kinda got salty on him and never got another chance to try it. I'm kinda just like that in my beliefs, until I realized degenerate stuff was kinda normal pre-SF4. I think since SF and Chaos Code have a limited movement structure is what makes those choice clear and make you feel like you're playing. I can play KoF but those antics are structured particularly.

I'm not necessarily put off by advanced movement. Just that I noticed it harder to make the correct decisions in the learning process when there is. 2D fundamentals are there, but the conditioning process is tough when your opponent understands the typical responses and rarely drops combos. So, you don't feel like you're playing or learning per se.
So, it turns out people are trash at Tony Hawk right now. As a guy who was there from the foundations of online with a friend of mine and had devs in the servers THUG Pro Mod, dude with black sunhat. It's crazy, we're getting called tryhards. I say again, What HOPE do FGs have??

ngl, THPS1+2 is actually alot harder than I remember, mainly cause THPS actually requires some finger dexterity and level memorization to do well in, 2 things pretty much bred out of modern gaming, and if I, someone who played THPS 2,3 and underground till my fingers fell off, is finding it tough, I cant imagine what a new player who's never touched THPS b4 would think

You can use the same method, I'm using on 4 and, 5 Vanilla & FS. You're right about DoA's being more lenient, for the sake of combos. Jacky's iageri is actually a frame later to do in VF.

I harked on you bc you brought up Naruto. I'm not against having more tool, just that, if you have all these things, you forget where to channel your mind. "I fear not the man who has practiced 10, 000 kicks 1 time. I fear the man who has practiced 1 kick, 10,000 times." -Bruce Lee A sniper who is great at shooting, but gets caught isn't good enough, fundamentally he failed.

I'm sure the Naruto game is fun, if it's the one I'm thinking about with the juggles but I wouldn't use it for an example when talking about FGs, since those games tend to just put a bunch of things in it for the hell of it rather than Actually making something well thought out n balanced, most of the time.
