  • If the new DOA game doesn't have rollback and crossplay then I won't buy it until it does. VF too. If it doesnt have both those things then it's not worth buying

Lets see how that holds up. Many things were "unacceptable" according to the FGC but somehow later on became the norm and even supported by the community.

It's a conundrum. Do we speak with our wallets and refuse to buy the company game until they implement Rollback? Or do we support the company in order for them to have the resources to implement it and have them know people are going to play the game even further because it's implemented?

If I ask for a burger, I'm going to assume they'll put lettuce & tomato. It doesn't the first time, The burger can taste good but I should assume next time you'll put it in.
Was rollback just recently invented or something? I don't remember hearing much about it before but now everyone is "If it doesn't have rollback I ain't buying it". It's like the hot new word people throw around for everything now.

Thing is, because of COVID it is not safe to travel to offline events (if there even are any, or if they can at all) anymore, so most players are stuck playing their favourite fighting games online, which is most probably delay-based. Some games are just god awful to play online that way, like DBZF, or REV 2 and a well implemented rollback netcode could fix most of the delay-based netcode issues the other games have.
    ChaolanLegacy
    ChaolanLegacy
It feels good when SFV's netcode actually works and I don't play against teleporting players, with delay-based, playing certain characters and playing against certain ones can feel sluggish, especially if its a character that requires execution in order for him/her to be played properly, that can demotivate many players to not play or even leave their favourite fighting game.
    ChaolanLegacy
    ChaolanLegacy
For me it doesn't matter as much since I experienced netcodes like MKvDC's among many others that weren't good at all so I'd manage and I'm not that super competitive about the games that I play but If I had to choose between well-implemented rollback and relatively well implemented delay-based netcode (like BBTag), then I'll 100% pick rollback.
Never had a reason to buy a Xbox or any of its line of consoles but if DOA7 becomes an exclusive to the X-whatever its called then I'm more than happy to ditch PS.

It'd be on PC anyway. No need to, "Ditch" Sony, really.
ngl, I feel spoiled by DOA5 and BB/ GG's tutorial, command training, etc modes. If a game doesn't have those modes then I don't really feel like learning them.
    Hold_Junkie93
    Hold_Junkie93
Yeah, it's a great way to structure yourself. 3D FGs just need the command training or the ability to hold a command on screen since you just do those to see what the properties are. For anime games defo trials. Learnt UNIEL as those were quite useful for routes. Hell, I think they simply took them from the Wiki as they've been there since before they had such modes. SF doesn't really need it though lol
What will be the new standard for fighting games? We went from hating barebones, input lag SFV to loving barebones, input lag, and long loading times T7. How much lower can FGs go I wonder?
    human013
    human013
Yeah, but SFV suffered more than T7 when they both had similar complaints. It was a huge deal when SFV had it on release but when T7 released people actually made up reasons as to why it was ok. It's the same deal with DLCs and season passes. People love to hate them but they "tolerate" them to the point where it is now the norm.
    human013
    human013
As for rollback we just gotta look at Harada cause T7 already has it lmao. Kinda like how T7 didn't have an input lag issue but they released a patch to fix a nonexisting issue. But the rollback issue is connected to what I'm say a bit too. Why would games need to do it when they can sell without it? Look at Tekken's numbers. It doesn't need rollback to sell so they don't need to care about rollback.
    Hold_Junkie93
    Hold_Junkie93
I just hope that Rollback doesn't become a buzzword and they legitimately make a good game first to before trying to sell free copies because it's advertised that way. Lowered execution with RB to make the process of implementing it easier. Despite a lot of high execution games working good with it. is:All of FightCade. Matchmaking needs to be a priority as well.
Roll back is looking good for GG according to many players. What's considered the best DOA game? Anyone want to bother TN and ask for rollback for old DOA games?
    Kasumi-Phase-X
    Kasumi-Phase-X
What I consider the best DOA game is DOA5. I don't care too much about Netcode, even if I did what are the likely chances they'd bother adding Rollback for say DOA5 for example.
    human013
    human013
I do want it to be DOA5 but I also want to experience the old DOA games too. If I really had to chose I would go with DOA5 though.
    Kasumi-Phase-X
    Kasumi-Phase-X
I'd throw DOA5 since this was a game that had a PS4/Xbox One/PC release with DOA5LR, and games like DOA Ultimate had its servers shutdown since original Xbox Live was discontinued, or DOA1-3 didn't had online which would require a third party online server to even experience online.
Wait just a minute, Marie is an issue because she is 18 and looks young, but many of the girls before her were literally underage with extremely well developed bodies doing all sorts of things in all kinds of outfits and no one complained... So as long as they look developed their age doesn... Oh god...
    Onryoki
    Onryoki
Marie and Honoka look like children, act like children and are even more sexualised than Kasumi, Ayane and Kokoro. That’s why it’s an issue, they put the 18 year old label on them to sexualise them. Kasumi, Ayane and Kokoro’s ages were unknown to the west. So yeah, nobody really had in mind that they were 17 and 16 respectively. If I and other people knew, back then there definitely would’ve been backlash.
    Onryoki
    Onryoki
Also why are you trying to crucify us for saying that they looked and behaved older? We’re not the ones sexualising them. Nor are we justifying their sexualisation. If someone don’t look or act underage and their ages are labelled as unknown it’s hard to imagine they’re underage. So your attempt to make us look like we’re justifying the sexualisation of minors is pretty disgusting.

They stopped a game support, and took a break from doa in general. Something definitely will be in future, but not now
I have never wanted an individual character voice selection option as bad as I do now with GBVS. Belial doesn't sound good and I don't like Zeta's "Yawh" when she attacks. So close to being perfect. This reminds me of the noises Leifang makes when she gets hit. There's 2 or 3 that just don't sound good but everything else about her sounds great. DOA6 added a really strange one for her too.
Wait, Fahkumram is a legit Tekken character? lol. I thought he was a guest character so I didn't care about him. He looks so awful. C'mon Tekken, you can make better characters than that.

Diego is pretty awful in DOA6 also. FG developers aren't creating compelling characters as easily as in the past.
    human013
    human013
Diego's issue was TN trying to cater to the west when they don't really know the west. If they started with "We need an interesting character" rather than "We need a character for the west" he would have turned out way better.
    Maybe Blazblue news soon???

They’re busy with GG and Granblue atm, I doubt they have anything relating to Blazblue in the works sadly. What would a new BB game even be like considering how the story went?
    ChaolanLegacy
    ChaolanLegacy
I have a feeling that they'd either go with Naoto's universe where something bad would happen or create something completely new but at the same time similar to the BB we know, something like Dark War but instead its a fighting game. Again, if BBTAG 3.0 won't be a thing, then imo we won't be hearing anything about BB for a good couple of years, 2-3 at the very least, maybe rollback.
LMAO WTF?? Trap is a slur now? What is the
    western
    world coming to??
    KasumiLover
    KasumiLover
Well trap is a negative term in general since it means unexpected misfortune basically. But I'm not trying to argue or anything, I'm just saying I can see how someone may not like the term, like how some people hate terms that may not be intentionally meant out of disrespect
    human013
    human013
C'mon, you're really spinning the word around like that to make your point? lol. The original definition is not a slur and cannot be taken as a slur in any way. Look up the def. The anime definition is also not a slur. People are literally creating a definition to get mad about.
    human013
    human013
They hate a word because they made up a new definition for the word, or applied it in a way that has no relation to the original meaning, or the fan meaning. Again, just fabricating "outrage".
Turning GBF into a fighting game was one of the best decision ever made. Amazing artstyle, great character designs, and characters with tons of personality.
People are really using KOF14's base roster to show how bad GGST's roster is lol. I also don't like GGST's roster too but comparing the characters from GG to KOF? Seriously? lmao.
    oMASTER LEGENDo
    oMASTER LEGENDo
good netcode > roster also alot of those ppl don't even understand that GG was going to have even less chars. daisuke said it so many times idk why ppl can't listen.

What's crazy is MvCi used 2-man teams as a way to not have a lot of characters plus stones were copout assists TBH. KoF Can't have an excuse to have less characters due to the format per se. I want to play 2K2's character roster with 13's HD or 14's particular max mode w/auto dash but more freeform like 2K2
    human013
    human013
True, but look at the quality of the models themselves. If KOF14 had 50 characters looking as good as GGST then they have something to stand on. KOF14 only has 50 characters because they all look like crap. I would rather take quality over quantity.
I wouldn't mind a DOAD type game while we wait for the next main DOA game. A launch and forget it game. No DLC or anything. Maybe some patches to fix bugs but nothing else. Like what BBTag was since it felt more like a lower effort project.
    Kasumi-Phase-X
    Kasumi-Phase-X
Koei Tecmo would still want ways to monetize the DOA franchise, so asking for no DLC or anything isn't something they'd do especially with a franchise like DOA from its Season Passes & Paid V-Stones.
Can TN do a recap for DOA at the level of what GG is doing? I want to know more about the characters.

I guess I will. I just want something new and current. Something that can be considered a new project and get people interested like a retelling using the DOA5/6 models.
From the revealed info so far, GGST will will feel really underwhelming at launch which is disappointing. The characters look amazing but that's about it.
Imagine a DOA game where people space and poke most of the time. Back and forth blockstrings that take advantage of DOA's string delay and mixups with holds barely being thrown out because they're stricter. What a dream.
    oMASTER LEGENDo
    oMASTER LEGENDo
Add Strike punishment kinda done with the throw punishment unless ur a grappler which makes sense. Holds are ok but make the timing strict or longer recovery I would rather people not rely on them cause they don't want to block or panic hold on defense which happens alot.
    human013
    human013
I want strike punishment too but I don't know how much that will affect the triangle system. I wouldn't mind both stricter timing and longer recovery for holds. And the low and high holds will no longer catch all highs or lows attacks. There will be a high punch hold, high kick hold, etc like the mid holds.
    human013
    human013
This will force people to think more and they will have less chances to guess right. That seems like a fair way to teach them to not throw them out randomly.
Eliot and Leifang are the 2 characters I wish I spent more time learning. Both their movesets were visually good to look at and felt good to execute. The 2 I really tried to like but just couldn't click with were Kokoro and Hitomi. They looked great in motion but felt awkward when playing.
