  • Ghost of Tsushima should've won. If you're an award show and you're awarding the BEST games both socially and critically, there's no reason why Ghost or Doom shouldn't have won. Congrats to TLoU2. It's not a bad game. In fact it's solid.

Nioh got robbed. Doom definitely got robbed. Got no notable awards. My issue with TLoU2 isn't that the game sucks. It's not a bad game, contrary to popular belief. And I do think it deserved some awards. But GOTY, Best direction, best performance, best sound, best narration? Like I can think of 10 games that were way better previous years and didn't sweep like this, including Uncharted 4.

This year was stacked with high quality games for TLoU2 to just be sweeping the competition and on top of it all, it's a game that majority didn't like as much. Like if critics like it but the people don't, sorry that's not GOTY material. You don't put 1-1 and make it 2 somehow. The player's vote reflected that hugely.

To be fair, a lot of people dislike TLOU2 for political reasons over disliking it based on quality, i.e. the equivalent of "review bombing". But yeah, TGA was sucking off TLOU2 a lot yesterday. Let's see how it goes next year when next gen games will possibly find their stride.
My PC stuff arrived!!! Once my semester ends, gonna build that joint and gonna have some fun with the FG's, emulators, Halo, Left 4 dead, etc.

Also dove into Hwang stuff, he's pretty tight. Haven't tried him online yet or anything, but once next week comes, I'll try some ranked SC. I liked the story stuff also. SC can hold the W in regards to story stuff.
I love the feeling when you play good sets and you feel like you're executing with characters better and it shows. Still ways to go w/ Mishima's, Jin, Kazumi, and Kuni, but it's a joy to see progress for me.

I just wish I could carry that to MK, SF and DBFZ. But maybe in due time. But I think for now I might truly grind Tekken, MK, and Soul Cal for the remainder of the year.
FINALLY!!!!! I've waited too long for this dude to come back. And he looks tight. Finally got a reason to play SC.

Seong Mi-Na wasn't bad. I do like her as a character and she's similar to Kilik. She's solid but wasn't for me during the time I played SC VI (Season 1). Maybe now I would like her as I do like the fundamental style. But the closest character to whom I was looking for at the time was Maxi. But much of the time I felt like a button masher and I didn't know much of what he was doing.

Some people say Xianghua but she's not for me either. Xianghua/Hwang for me feels like if I was to try to go Ling in Tekken or Helena in DOA compared to Hwoarang and Rig.

Yeah, Maxi has good buttons that just "flow" into each other. In lag he looks like a masher lol. Oh, yeah, surprised you don't like Xianghua, her style is somewhat similar to Yun Seong or Hwang.
After some time, I finally purchased my first PC build. It's gonna be a learning process for me. But I'm hyped to learn more about PC gaming and hopefully, I can get some good games out of it as well.

Custom. For now, working with i9 9900k CPU, AMD Radeon RX 5600 xt and 32 gb ram. I'll update the GPU hopefully in a year or sooner but I heard it does well for 1440p gaming and such and it'll last me at least up to 2-3 years.

5600XT is very good for 1080p, but it's at the limit for 1440p gaming. If playing fighters at 1440p you need to make sure you're not dropping under 60fps during matches.

I'll take that into consideration. Thanks man. I'll look into the configurations and the settings and setups. Hopefully everything arrives soon.
Week 1 of ranked was a success. Mishima's and Kazumi made green and so did Kuni. Was a lot harder than when the game 1st came out but that was when I was Hwoarang and Hwo's harder to handle than the others. Hopefully week 2 can be solid as well.

On a sidenote, I played some DOA after some time and I actually had fun. I became Omega free now. But it's all good. And lobby discussions over the state of DOA and what went right/wrong helped me develop a better mindset on what to hope for in the future.

i think people have gotten better overall online, and used to the mishima's maybe that's why your had harder time this time around. Kuni is still new her tools should still get some people unaware. I am learning kuni myself, as for doa one can only hope they learn and get better lol. That's me being optimistic as usual haha.

Congrats dude. Good luck with further training.
After about 2 weeks of Season 4, My first impressions are simple: Online's solid. Kuni's a great DLC character, but Tekken's balances and Meta is still awful.

    T..J. Bernard
I think by this balancing and meta, they definitely coming up with Tekken x Street Fighter next. By the way they balancing everything so that players can keep swinging with no repercussion, it's definitely turning out to be that kind of game. If that's the case I can only hope for VF to be good.
Kunimitsu feeling solid so far. Hopefully later I can test her out. But compared to the other legacy and dlc, she feels good to play.

Update: Day 1: I think Kunimitsu is good tier. Her range isn't great to me so far, so at range 2 it can be a struggle to really control neutral vs like Fahk, Jin, or Leroy for example. But I think she has solid pokes, her mix-up games good, and she punishes really hard. I'll look more into her as this week goes. But overall, I think she has Noctis fundamentals and a mix of Ling, Master Raven, and Yoshi mix-up.
Season 4 day 1 is 50/50. I love the online stuff. WiFi indicator is the biggest W for me. But the balances are all over the place yet again. I'll give it a bit more.

My hope is that we get crossplay on the next part of season 4. Should this rollback be fire, I think it's a good time to implement it.
After watching Mainman's analysis for s4 characters, S4 looks a lil promising (though some stuffs highly questionable). I wish they came out w/ patch notes before S4 gameplay stuff.
Seeing people talk about the Alex Valle tweet on twitter. I don't see where the big fuss is, at least with the skill part. I think both modern and old fgc had unique challenges that any striving player had to go through to git gud.
    DestructionBomb
    DestructionBomb
One of these things, was game information. Regardless of Valle's stance on this, originally the game developers from games in ages past wanted to include such information but couldn't due to limitation and hardware, so the FGC (for who knows why) developed this idea that it was tied to skill for having such lack information when it's not even the case at all.
    DestructionBomb
    DestructionBomb
It's also the matter of context and how people interpret from what Valle is going by, for example, his stance can be taken as: "Things were different in colonial times. Natives had to adapt, be skilled, and stealthy. That's why the colonist were such killers they had guns. Now everyone has a mass produced handgun."
    DestructionBomb
    DestructionBomb
Both sides regardless received a weapon, even if one is easier to access/use than previous times. You still have to actually use said gun, you could have a gun and not even be good at using one. You can use it for the sake of getting good with it, or you use it that one time at a shooting range and never use it again.

You can be superb at a good/bad game, it's how you become one with the information given to you.
Welp I'm expecting Hwang and/or Yun Seong to not appear yet again. Especially w/ that hint. Maybe in SC VII.

Played the Soul Cal tourney online. Went 0-2 but played a really good Kilik in Nelly and Obscure (Really good Tekken player). Was a lot of fun.
Ngl, Raidou kinda growing on me. He's extremely stiff w/ movement but he's kinda fun to use. Might go w/ the main hero/villain build for FG's.
    Camel with 2 thumbs
    Camel with 2 thumbs
Raidou is fun, if you can get past his ass-tastic movement and shitty jab, but he is a fun character, I can't even do his electric or air grab and I still have a blast playing him
I feel issues in regards to characters go beyond just execution characters not being as rewarding. It's the fact that majority of rosters in games have the same gameplan and in the end it boils down to who has the easier and better toolset to be able to play said fighter.

This to me's especially true in regards to defensive characters because tbh, the way everything turns all offense-oriented, offensive characters are in a sense better defensive characters than defensive characters. Defensive characters turn to unga bunga characters and it's not enjoyable to play as or against. There are other examples but it's just crazy to see how things turned for much of these games.
Does MK11 have input delay or is there a kind of execution barrier w/ inputs? Playing online's not bad but the inputs feel stiff. On the Liu Kang/Shang Tsung grind though for now.
    Camel with 2 thumbs
    Camel with 2 thumbs
MK11 does have built in delay (4 frames if I recall), as for input stiffness it's half character based and half MK11's buffer windows, which by default are pretty tight; you can alter the input windows in settings somewhere but their are just certain strings that are stiffer than the rest
    Camel with 2 thumbs
    Camel with 2 thumbs
I don't play Liu or Shang but characters like Kitana and Frost have strings where you pretty much have to dial the whole thing out very quickly if you want the full string to come out, I dunno why particular strings are designed like that but it is what it is
    Force_of_Nature
    Force_of_Nature
It's unfortunately an NRS thing to have tight inputs. Injustice 2's buffer was pretty tight too (though I think MK11 might've felt tighter).
Playing shooters agains been fun ngl. Throwback Halo (Minus reach & 1) and Gears been hitting different. Not that I don't like Reach or 1.

It's kinda making me question and maybe I'm wrong but were fighters even optimized for online play? Like even playing Gears 2 on XBOX one game pass been more smooth than if I was playing SFV now.

Offline's a different story and competitively, I feel offline's always going to be best for any game. But online-wise, I just feel like online's a huge issue for majority of fighters. I don't think fighters were made w/ the thought of online as much as offline and this year really shows and it hurts in a big way, especially competitively.
I'm finally within range of getting the PC. A bit away but I can now go into the research part for real and look at potential deals.
