  • KOF15 not looking half bad, definitely a step up from how KOF14 looked like. This could be the game that'll finally get me to give KOF an honest shot.
While I know that the Neptunia osts are pretty good, I feel that Megadimension Neptunia VII's ost knocks it out of the park, the battle themes especially, they're super solid. I'd be surprised they'll improve on it further with the game that'll act as a sequel to VII (since they're doing a lot of spin-offs and enhanced port of older games) but who knows when they'll be making one, no information at all about that.
Happy New Year everyone! 2020 was an ok year for me, got a couple of things going for me in that year and around the end of it I finally had goals that I'd like to work towards in 2021 but I do understand that 2020 for most was a very bad year. I hope that 2021 brings better or even good for all of us.
So about the Open Series tournaments, wonder if it'd be a problem if I sign in using an English/UK PSN even though I'm not from there, would it lead to me getting DQ'd from the tournament, maybe even my PSN account getting banned permanently? I'm thinking of entering online tournaments in the next year when I can.
I find it weird that you can purchase dlc on Steam and keep it in your inventory as a gift that you can add to your library later on when you do have the game, like, why not let people just buy the dlc for themselves even if they don't have the game yet like how you can do it on PSN.
Come to think of it, the most toxic fgc communities right now are definitely Tekken's and Mortal Kombat's, two of the four big fighting games out there. In a way it might be nice that some of the fighting games are smaller, the less toxic members that are present in them the better (in a way). Don't know about Smash lately, they seem ok for the time being.

MK is just such a frustrating game to play. I have never been a fan of NRS' balancing. Hard not to become toxic. In my experience Smash's community can be pretty toxic. Overall, yeah, MK & Tekken may be the worst.

As for least toxic communities? SamSho is cool, KI is cool, SC is cool, VF is cool. Skullgirls seem alright (can't really see SG being toxic, though I'm not that familiar with the game).

The GG and BB communities are also pretty cool, back in the vanilla Continuum Shift days the players that I've played against were very chill, same experience that I have with the players on BBTag really. There are toxic members in every community, sure but I feel that there are more crybaby's/ragequitters/trash talkers in the MK and Tekken communities, back in the SF4AE days I would've put SF in there too.
The two fighting games that I would've liked to buy the most during the Winter Sale aren't discounted at all (yet).....just my luck I guess.
Now we can say it for sure: BBTag can join DOA6 in the "no more dlc characters" group. At the very least it is still supported in terms of tournaments, since the King of Giant Festival got announced for the game, apparently 6 online tournaments will be held starting from 9th January with the last tournament happening on March 13.
If there's going to be a Darkstalkers 4 in the future then a cool guest character that Capcom could add would be Miriam from Bloodstained, I feel that she'd be a nice addition to that game.

Bloodstained was a lot of fun. I enjoyed that game and Miriam was great. Zangetsu too.

Bloodless was also a lot of fun to play as both as a boss character and as an actual playable character with her own "story". If any of these three characters would make it in the next Darkstalkers game, then that'd be awesome.
Jonio is retiring from Mikado. Even if I'm new to Guilty Gear I've heard some things about the Mikado arcade prior to getting into the games, the amount of footage that he made for GGXX and Xrd is insane and he has been doing this for a long time now. Him leaving definitely feels like an end of an era at least for GG.
Well I'll be, Ghosts and Goblins gets a new game next year on the Switch only (so far), now that's something that I thought would happen much much later down the line, nice surprise there Capcom.
Remembers that the Game Awards candidates are discounted on Steam "Oh, right, GBFVS is one of them, I can pick the game up and I don't have to wait for the Winter Sale to do that* noticed that GBFVS isn't discounted "Out of all the nominees, this is the only one that isn't discounted at all, ArcSys, Cygames, wtf* I do hope that they'll drop the price to 30-40 at least for the Steam Winter Sale.

Eh, the game pretty much got nominated by default haha (Remember when DOA6 & Jump Force got nominated...?). None of the FG's this year deserve FG of the year, though MK11U will likely win. Though, that is right bullshit if GBVS isn't discounted by now. The game was $69.99 CAD for the longest time here.

True, like how that OPM 3D arena fighter got nominated this year as well. GBFVS is actually 60 euros on Steam right now, a full priced game that was released 1 and half a year ago xD. Ah well, maybe later on it'll go down in price, Ori was 30 euros a couple of hours ago but now its like 15-16, so there's still a chance.

I'd say that out of these fighting games gameplay-wise UNICLR would definitely deserve it but Capcom made some decent decisions with SF5 this year.....if UNICLR would've had functional rollback netcode on release or soon after then my choice for the best fighting game of the year would've been CLR free.
Gotta love it when your opponent T-bags or disrespects you, leaves the lobby afterwards but still technically ends up losing the set, in those cases I'm always like: Bro, what are you T-bagging for? You lost the set, the hell you trying to prove with this? xD
Interesting to see that the Warriors games that are made for other franchises are handled better than the games made for the original franchises (DW/SW). They just have an extra element to it that is missing from the original franchises that make them very fun and also not extremely simple, which is one of the issues of Dynasty and Samurai Warriors' games nowadays (yes, even 8XL, even if its quite a good game).

Do you mean TN working with other company games as a freelancer? because if it is, it really comes down to budget if you think about it, presentation from these other companies, and the direction. Once TN gets that budget, they actually tend to do the best they can with said budget. But if they are given mediocre things, then they will handle it as mediocrity.

But if you mean initially, I think the Sengoku Basara games are probably the best Musou games that existed so far. Far better than KT's DW/SW games imo.

When we getting Persona 5 Scramble tho? lol. Personally as a long time fan of the Warriors games, I do feel it has gone down in quality over the years. IMO, the SW2 and DW5 era had the best warriors games although I do like WO3U the most. WO4U felt so disappointing in comparison.
EDIT: Apparently the news went out today we getting P5S in February 21st. Sweet.
With SF5 becoming this priced game that also has a F2P model or method of unlocking content plus how the ban system works in the SF League that sort of gives me LoL vibes again, I wonder if they'll be selling SF6 at like 20-30 dollars and also fully implement a F2P model that'd be very similar to League's, with FM being like Blue Essence, and you can get character shards
Virtua Fighter's so good. It definitely is part of my top 3 fighting games franchises now. Certainly want to get better at it with time.

Aye, even if they won't be making VF6 anytime soon, I'd gladly take VF5FS for current gen consoles with rollback, unless the game's netcode is actually good on PS3/360, haven't played the game online yet and haven't heard much about its netcode.

i would love if they mix both VF5 versions; Final Showdown had the customization, the roster and the online modes, while the previous version had more offline modes (i freaking love quest mode) and a more attractive presentation.

Netcode is sustainable for the most part as long as you play people within your region. Asian region has the best on PSN Xbox is preferred to a particular degree to the point the JP pros use it to play online. So, there's food for thought there. 360 version is laggier offline by one frame. Even though the lindbergh itself is based on 360 architecture. You can plug in your xbox pad natively.
TMM's an interesting one. He described how the Korean Tekken players truly behave outside of tournaments and how their behaviour at tournaments is a facade, how does he know? The only offline tournaments that he went to iirc was EVO, twice, and I'm goddamn sure that his online warrior ass didn't meet or play with all of them during those times.

I wouldn't blame the characters, those are design choices the devs decided to go with. As for Geese being able to escape Chloe's BT setup, that's matchup specific, but yeah the guest characters are infamous for stealing rounds, but imo that's a Tekken Issue. Paul, Fak, Lucky Chloe herself (with california roll setup), and several others can also steal rounds. Unfortunately this is the way the devs designed tekken 7.

TMM is biased because I think he did play Geese at one point unless im thinking about KingJae, but TMM is a very good Kazuya player that has put together many combo vids, tutorials, and tierlists for the community. He's not on Knee's level, and definitely has not won tournaments, but I think his opinion and experience as a long time community member makes his opinions valid.

Well tbh, I think most players are different outside of tournaments. Online it’s very easy to be a bitch and get away with it.
Ok, that Hwang redesign looks kinda nice, like a mixture of him and Assassin from SC2, also, damn he looks super unique in terms of gameplay, I like the direction that they took with him. He seems like a fun character to play with, hopefully it'll be that way.
Arcrevo Korea seems to be happening after all. It'll be a two days event, on Dec 12 UNICLR and BBCF will be in the spotlight while in Dec 19 BBTAG and Granblue will be the 2 games people will be playing in. Wonder if we'll be getting new announcements afterwards, iirc the next Granblue character trailer is scheduled for next month, we might find out who comes to the game after Yuel. Maybe BBTAG/BB stuff too?
Improving at fighting games comes one step at a time. I remember when I played with Juri online on USF4 in 2016 and my roommate asked why I used U1 (always used W/both tho), it doesn't do any damage. This was also my mentality back when I started playing AE 2012 when I would've liked to take things further, I considered U1 bad because it didn't do any damage.

Now I also know why I'm using Ultra Combo W with her and why I think that it is the best option out of the three. I have full access to U1 which isn't nerfed since its an install, but I also have an acceptable anti-air, a decent reversal option and a somewhat damaging attack that I can easily combo into. Quite a lot of tools at disposal, in 2016 my thought process was that this was the best option and thats that.
