  • Last year Arcsys said that given the current climate they were gonna consider the opinions of the general online playerbase when it came to buffs and nerfs, and if these last 2 DBZF patches are indicative of what to expect, then I'm terrified

basically "listening to the general online playerbase" means "we'll nerf characters that ppl complain on forums and message boards and leave everyone else alone", which leads to popular high tiers getting nerfed, but less popular but just as powerful high tiers being left alone because their strengths don't really shine through in low-mid level play, can't say Im a fan of that kind of balancing

Arcsys has nothing to do with that, you're talking about bamco.
SSJ4 Gogeta looks sick (that level up mechanic is nutz), and I didn't even watch GT lol
Fighting games with no offline events to look forward to is a drag

Online is nice and all but if whooping up on MilfHunter69 and XxXSh8d0wN1nj8XxX is all I have to look forward to then I might not be long for this sh1t

I get what you mean. Over the last year it's been just online tournaments which can be cute to watch but quite frankly don't match the feeling and vibe of a legit offline tournament event. On the bright side, it was nice to see Japanese FG devs get called out on their atrocious netcode in 2020.
I luv my smash peeps but I hate the fact that they use the word "lag" to refer to what we know as "recovery", and what they know as "recovery" is a completely different thing lol

in fact there's alot of lexicon that's shared between fighting game and smash but they mean completely different things which makes even talking with smash players a challenge in itself, need a gosh darn smash dictionary just to translate

Yeah, it's like that in Smash guides too. "Lag" is used in non-fighting game games also such as in some PC esports games. It's silly because lag is the term used to describe suffering a match with a Wifi warrior. Lag is basically just a short-form for latency also.

There’s a LOT of disconnect between Smash and the FGC.

dayum, Strive got hit with a 2 month delay, normally i'd be upset but considering how many bugs, glitches, and infinties were discovered during that short Beta test, I say take your time Arcsys

and maybe they can do something about that lobby, cause that sh1t is terrible, think we can all agree on that

just let me quick rematch w/o going back to the lobby!

I think delayed games are good cause the devs have time. Cyber punk is a great example of a game not tested or anything.
for any1 looking to hop on Dengenki Bunko cause of the rollback change, some advice, offence on wake up is severely nerfed cause it's on that SF4 tip where OS's and wakeup backdash punish any attempt pressure downed opponents

jump meaty into anti-pushback/backdash staggers and delayed throw are going to be your best friend in those scenarios, if you don't do this stuff you're gonna feel like your opponents are psychic cause they'll just counter any and all attempts to open them up lol

I was actually rather surprised Dengeki Bunko would attempt the rollback change. That game was under the radar for quite a long time.

The game's had a bit of a revival thanks to the rollback but the title's too small and niche to make waves. Its not like GG accent core which comes from a legacy franchise so most ppl were willing to give it a chance, you tell ppl that a super niche anime game from 2014 has rollback now check it out, majority of ppl are gonna hard pass on that
Recommend me some mobile games! got BlueStacks running on PC and my controller is hooked up but I have no idea what phone games are decent and worth downloading
After almost 2 years of silence, finally, an Elden Ring trailer! granted it's leaked trailer but fuck it i'll take what I can get at this point
playing Sagat in SFV gives me the same feeling I get when I play Nyo in DOA, they're really fun characters when they're allowed to do what they're designed to do, but...

if you run into a character that shuts their gameplan down (which alot of them do), you're forced play with a bunch of system mechanics to try and worm your way back into a favorable position which is 0 fun in both games :/

Picturing Nyotengu doing a multi hit tiger uppercut (a.k.a. ridge attack) is hylarious. Hmmm whats this crystal ball doing here?
How do we exist in a timeline where Gal Gun is the only rail shooter that gets consistent releases :/

wasn't there a House of the Dead remake that was supposed to come out last year? guess it got delayed like everything else in 2020, and Panzer Dragoon got remade last year with it's sequel getting a remake this year, so I guess classic rail shooters aren't totally dead
    Kasumi-Phase-X
    Kasumi-Phase-X
What I meant by Gal Gun being unique & profitable compare to Time Crisis & House of the Dead is that Gal Gun has something that could make genres that majority of game companies rarely make nowadays to hold on its own (mainly fanservice).
    Kasumi-Phase-X
    Kasumi-Phase-X
Profitable doesn't mean House of the Dead for example less profitable as Gal*Gun, at best House of the Dead would be the only Rail Shooter games made and at worst you don't get much choices for Rail Shooter games.
Does a 25 year old videogame franchise that started as a kids game need to age with it's audience or should it just keep appealing to the kids?
    DestructionBomb
    DestructionBomb
I think it depends on the genre. The Lego or Nickelodeon games for example should keep it appealing to kids mostly, but I find it nothing wrong for any age type imo.

Depends on the genre, the type of game and the type of story it's trying to convey. Like Mario for example can reach to any type of person cause it's mostly Mario's adventures and such. But something like Kingdom Hearts, I would expect Sora to grow as the series goes on. Not that he loses who he is. But he should be learning from past experiences and such.
    Force_of_Nature
    Force_of_Nature
Depends on the genre or game, but in general no. If the franchise is targeted at a certain age group it should usually stay with that age group, however it can have little nods to older fans of the series. For instance platformers like Crash or Mario should remain child-friendly, but something like Legend of Zelda could mature.
traditionally in Guilty Gear u don't get dmg off long range pokes (at least not w/o meter) so the fact that Ram has a HS that can corner carry from mid screen into 50% combos leading to positive meter gain is weird
    Camel with 2 thumbs
    Camel with 2 thumbs
not that I mind, characters who kill you off their long range pokes are my bread n' butter in airdashers/anime games lol
all this time I thought Brawlhalla was just some cutesy F2P smash rip off, then boom, $1,000,000 world tour sponsored by the developers??? da fck?
Saudi Arabia acquiring significant stakes in EA, Take two, and Activision. Tencent acquiring multiple videogame companies via hostile takeovers, don't be surprised to see more videogames kowtowing to west/east Asian sensibilities in the future
