  • A good couple of fighting games suffered because of COVID but two of them that suffered the most were Granblue, because the scene and the game itself weren't able to really grow big but I feel that it can still happen, Under Night on the other hand may have been at the verge of becoming big but with no offline for a long time and a very bad netcode all that momentum was lost.

I agree that COVID-19 stifled GBVS badly, since it was projected for probably about 1700+ entrants at EVO 2020. The move to EVO Online hurt its momentum badly. UNICLR also got hurt by EVO 2020 pretty much getting cancelled and FG's getting moved to online. However, like PB implied, not having rollback netcode hurt games like that tremendously.

However, do you know another game that got stifled heavily due to COVID? SoulCalibur VI. The game literally got a world tour announced in December 2019, and low and behold COVID-19 hit a few months later. Game just went progressively downhill after that. And yes, having godawful delay-based netcode didn't do the game any favours.

Yeah, the WUFL tournament for SCVI seemed to give the game a second chance but then the whole fiasco with the betting site happened and it was almost as if that tournament never even happened, a shame since its gameplay imo its better than Tekken 7's rn. Every game suffered during the pandemic but the ones that had delay-based netcode, well, for some of them it was a giant nail in the coffin.
A shame that VF5US doesn't have a battle log for the lobby matches as well, would be nice to check games where we test out other characters in order to see what we're doing wrong plus record some matches from there instead of having to record every match or to play ranked for them.
FF Origin's gonna be that gift that is going to keep on giving, wonder how many memes are going to be made of this game in a few months, hell, how many memes we're going to find by the time we finish or 100% the game?
Ok, I have a feeling that we might get some announcements regarding the main games at EVO, my guess is that during EVO we might be getting the following news about these games:
GBFVS: SP3 announcement (maybe rollback too?)
    Melty: DLC
    DBZ: Maybe DLC
SFV: Couple games from SF6 demo/alpha?
    Skullgirls: DLC
    Strive: DLC
    T7: T8 announcement/short trailer maybe
    KoFXV: DLC
Gotta like fight or boss OST's that have dynamic music that change if something happens during the fight, or if the boss goes into the next phase, it can make it more hype and keeps things fresh compared to hearing the theme repeat/loop itself after a while.

Both can be good as long as the boss track is incredibly good such as Fire Emblem Three Houses' boss themes like this one:
    Force_of_Nature
    Force_of_Nature
Though even simple boss themes like Parasite Eve's can still be incredibly powerful even if it drags on (though that's partially due to how brutally intense Parasite Eve's boss fights could get at times).

(However the final boss theme indeed changed as the fight "evolved")
Ok, Atlus making a good decision, that's kind of a surprise, this means that REV 2, UNICLR and GBFVS are the ones that still have delay-based netcode out of the bigger anime fighting games. Think the next one out of them to get the rollback treatment is going to be Versus.
Found some Tekken 7 mods regarding non-playable boss characters, gave up search after the first 2 years of the game's release. Time to get it on Steam then, since if there's a mod for one of them then there's a mod for all of them. How much is the Definitive Edition usually discounted for?
Come to think of it, as fun as the gameplay of the Street Fighter games can be, one way or another they can all had or still have a decent amount of bullcrap in them.
Does anyone use the remoteplay app to play your PS4 games on your PC and if you did what is your opinion about it? Tried it out to see how it goes without ethernet and yeah, I'm going to have to plug the cable in, seems if the connection isn't stable then it disconnects very quickly.
Crazy how ArcSys went from having bad to very bad netcodes in their video games consistently to adding functioning rollback netcode both to their old and new games among releasing some great games for the past 5 years or so meanwhile Capcom still has to create a good fighting game at launch, something that they weren't able to do for the past 10 years, and only a few of their games have good rollback netcode.
Dynasty Warriors 9 is like the Sonic 06 of the franchise, game's very bad but that soundtrack is the best in the series, to the point where I might end up playing the game just because of it. If there's going to be a DW10 in the future (most likely) KT/Omega Force is going to have a hard time topping the OST of 9.
Was there a time where racing games were potentially the most played video games outside of when Underground 2, Most Wanted, Burnout, Gran Turismo and Flatout games were released? Can't remember racing games being played a lot or them being well known for like, the past 10-15 years.

Not really. Probably Mario Kart 1? It's a pretty niche genre.

It really is, there weren't racing games that had a huge impact on video games in general, they've been around for a long time sure but it was rare when people were talking mostly about them.

Need For Speed Underground 2, Burnout 3, Forza Motorsport 2, and Gran Turismo had the most impact. NFSU2 & BO3 for arcade racing, and FM2 & GT for simulation racing.
300K likes on Yae Miko announcement on Genshin's Twitter account, well, if there's going to be a banner that might outdo Raiden Shogun's moneywise then that's gonna be hers.

i;ll most likely pull for Shenhe, mostly cuz I think she looks cool and I have 0 desire to pull for the xiao, ganyu, or zhongli, but i'd like to know what Yae Miko does b4 I use up my gaurenteed 5 star pity, because as cool as Shenhe looks, I don't think she's necessary to my account, and If Yae miko ends up filling a niche I want and don't have imma feel real stupid if I use my pity on Shenhe

On my PS4 I'm saving for Ganyu (50 50) and then I'll try to pull for Zhongli (If I get Ganyu), on my PC file I'll be trying to get Shenhe (guaranteed) and try my luck on the weapon banner for her weapon(close to pity) then try to pull for Xiao, If I don't get him then at the very least I'm building pity for Yae.

Speaking of Yae, she seems to be a dps, there are some leaks and judging from her kit and signature weapon + its stats she'll be a dps most probably.
Wait, the 2 upcoming dlc characters for Melty are going to be free? Wonder if they'll be doing this with the rest of the dlc characters as well.
Not bad, Persona 5 Strikers free for PS Plus users next month, with me purchasing Royal not too long ago and being able to emulate P3 on PC, that leaves me with only P4G and P4A to purchase, now I just need to start playing one of the Persona games, haven't gotten there yet xD.
Playing Shantae Half Genie Hero makes me realize that there are plenty of games that start of very slow and give you so little that it takes quite a lot to get to the point where the game becomes fun, I needed to get to the fifth stage of the game (with backtracking to previously completed stages with new transformations) in order for me to start enjoying the gameplay part of it.

There should be more games that give you a good couple of items/abilities right off the bat with more that you can unlock/purchase afterwards and balance the gameplay around that, like how DMC does it.
The DA Noel reaction from people is weird, like, its an anime game were talking about, there's a certain anime fighter that has a Vampire that looks the same age as DA Noel does but she's many hundred years old and then there's the infamous cat that banged a mage whose child is playable since the third installment of the series, even design-wise there were strange choices made in other anime fighters.

Like, what the hell is Mitsuru wearing in Persona 4 Arena?
    Force_of_Nature
    Force_of_Nature
Don't know, but Mitsuru looks awesome there. It's a very Japanese quirk to do random shit just because they think it looks "cool".
DNF Duel is handled in such a weird way compared to the other ArcSys games that came out these past years, nothing for a year after the first trailer, then all of a sudden they bombard us with a ton of very short character trailers out of which a few (the grappler trailer specifically) are far too visibly edited and showcase combos that aren't even a thing (yet)
