  • From spectating T8, seeing the replay features and the ghost battle, I wish this stuff was going on during my T7 days. Would've made my time with Tekken much better. I could only wait & hope to get my hands on eventually just for those two features. Outside the heat system which I think is kinda meh, T8 looks leaps & bounds better than T7.

I understand that the budgets weren't as high to do most Japanese FG's justice, but something like SFV or a SCVI or a DOA6 (or even GG Strive TBH) aren't really adequate for a full release by modern standards. GG Strive did well due to attaching solid audio-visual presentation with being the first high quality FG to have rollback netcode. It stood out because so many Jap. FG's around it appeared mediocre.

I'll only excuse T7 on this one aspect: T7 was almost like Tekken's last stand because from what I heard TT2 was underwhelming (though casually I thought it was decent) and revolution was garbage. But I agree, this generation of fighters looks to be much better than the PS4 days. KOF15 looked well presented (can't speak on gameplay though), SF 6 looked solid. T8 looks engaging.

I think the only game that has been disappointing people has been MK 1 but to be honest, as much as I tried the MK's (outside 9 & X), it's just not for me. But even by that, these games look to be well rounded and it looks like a good time to be a FG player overall. And with more possibly on the way, I think this generation of fighters can be in a tier of its own.
Not looking bad. Ghost battle looks a bit more engaging, which would be a big plus compared to Tekken 7's treasure battle if the a.i. is solid enough and having tekken ball's cool (if it has online even better).

Hoping it'll be like Tekken 6 and TTT2 in terms of ghost battle. I hope they do away with the locked items and maybe just let us fight the AI and we can maybe unlock specific items from win streaks. Also hope the AI is harder since Ultra Hard in T7 isn't hard, I literally had a 999 win streak at one point the AI was so easy at max rank xD

Looks like there can be a more integrated story with more character involvement. Classic returns such as Steve, Yoshimitsu, Bears, Dragunov and return of Shaheen & Leo (shockingly). 32 characters, let's see who else gets introduced but the game looks decent.
Looking at SF VI's world tour & that create a character joint looks better than even some sports games. Idk if we treading into SC & 2000's WWE tier with that. Plus I don't know if we can create a move-set with it. But from what I saw, I am highly impressed.
Judging the tekken 8 trailers so far... Kazuya > Lars > Jin > Law > King > Paul > Nina > Jack 8

Kazuya: 8.5 (the best rage art and Kaz looks the most awesome). Lars: 8 (Probably the best looking trailer). Jin: 7.5 (Jin doing flips is off. But I think omen stance is back so points for that). Law: 7 (Wish it was Forest). King: 7 (King got evolution moves now). Paul: 6.5 (Boring ngl). Nina: 6.5 (The guns is a turn off ngl). Jack 8: 6 (Boring also ngl.)

    Nah.. Lars > Kazuya

After a few rewatches I probably would now say Kazuya = Lars. I think Kazuya's RA's still the best and the transformation stuff, if its not only for low health and such, would be tight. But Lars gameplay (outside Kazuya's transformation) is more engaging and his design is a major improvement over T7 Lars.

Ngl, the SFVI and Tekken 8 trailers got me intrigued. A lot of good lineups w/ GOW, Crisis Core as well and Zelda (likely in the coming year or 2).

Welp. Saw the Tekken anime. It was decent. Won't give my critiques until after 2 or 3 more watches but initial thoughts are that it's decent. The patch, well I haven't played tekken (or any game for that matter outside Roblox if that counts) in a year and I see tekken twitter not being happy about it, so I'll wait til I play in an arcade or something to see whats up.
Ngl that new SF looks pretty tight. The PS event was decent. Still waiting on FF VII remake 2, Spiderman 2, & God of War V....
I may be late to the party. But after finishing the hi-score girl anime, if I had to think of a show/film that was a genuine love letter to gamers alike, that joint's definitely up there. Not that it was perfect. But that kind of show...

After watching some of the Shenmue anime, I'm wondering if fighting games can make for good anime. Probably thinking about this cause the winter anime line-up (outside demon slayer, OP, AOT, etc.) was kinda dry.
    Taking this from Speedkicks but:

When judging a game, how much does each element matter to you?
    Gameplay Decision Stimulation: ?%
    Gameplay Sound/Visuals: ?%
    Story/Lore: ?%
    Features(Modes/Netcode/QoL/etc): ?%

For me it's dependent on the genre and other factors. But generally I would lean towards:

    Gameplay Decision Stimulation: 45%
    Gameplay Sound/Visuals: 15%
    Story/Lore: 15%
    Features(Modes/Netcode/QoL/etc): 25%

I don't judge a game based on all that. I just play and if it interests me or engaged me I continue to play it, I think it's odd and kinda pointless to have to divide percentages to what impressed you about it, I just play and if I like it I'll continue to play it xD

It's not a matter of percentages. It's just when u play or see a new game what matters most? Do you like gameplay, graphics, story, or modes most? I only did percentages based off Speedkicks joint but after that, that's really it. U can do list, highlight 1, etc. I'm thinking through this for evaluation reasons.
After some time, as much as I had fun w/ Akira and such, this game's netcode is not the wave at all. It's unfortunate cause aside from some personal stuff, I really like VF.

But until then, I'ma just either play specific sets, tourneys when that comes up, or just wait for PC port. And Tekken 7 about to be a flush no lie. I can't do it anymore w/ it. If I hear no T8 news or anything by the time EVO come up, T7 a flush. Idc anymore. 4 seasons and there's still random frame drops, lag spikes, random d/c's, and the balancing makes no sense yet again. Lili literally plays like Bryan now.

VF5US's netcode is disappointing because when you have a solid connection (such as playing someone you know, whom lives in the same region/city as you), the netcode runs pretty brilliantly allowing for legit online sparring sessions. However, any other condition, such as playing randoms in Ranked, quickly can divulge into a shitshow. VF5US is basically a physical representation of the limits of delayed netcode.
So from what I'm hearing GG: Strive released w/ no in-game frame data. Nobody looked @ Tekken rants about no in-game frame data? Bouta just swing for the hills yet again...

eh, they'll be fine, GG is not a game where frame data is too variable anyway so I don't think ppl will flip too hard, plus it has one of the better training modes that make it real ez to test out scenarios and situations (think DBZF training mode but even better)

On PC there will be mods to show it, I think someone is working on that for that game.

Granted, frame data should be a thing since day one so I agree with you.

I don't understand the purpose of players hopping on ranked to plug and 1 n done and not learn VF. Like you mind as well play lobby. Point of learning VF is to lose and w/ that, adapt and get better...
Heihachi getting a i13 while standing punisher now along w/ better jab and df1 range...
