  • Player preference question; for those who use the 2/8 H+P+K Side step, What button layout do you use it on for your controller? Just curious

R2 for me. Out of the way of everything else, so I only hit it if I really want to.

What Codemaster said. ;o R2 and L2 for me.

I see. I set mine to L1. Originally I swapped H+P+K(r1) and P+K(L1) so I could easily use Kasumi's teleport moves. Since I paused from using Kasumi, I forgot to swap them back and kinda got used to it, but I think I'l go back to the original Type A preset layout.
Been focusing trying to counter Ayane this entire week using Hitomi. I don't want Ayane to be my Achilles Heel.

I've finally started finding her unsafe moves. One move I thought I could throw punish, but it's a -5 on block which is her BT 6K( i think) and one similar to it

BT 6K is actually +0 on block. I'll give you some critiques on your vids tomorrow. Look me up on YT if you'd like some more details with relation to Ayane.

Me & my cousin had another throwdown. Beat him 10-4 and I only used Hitomi. He used Rig and Ayanne. I still have trouble trying to get the kick holds.
Who wants to bet these new characters are more VF guests, or brand new characters from scratch like Mila, Leon, and Marie Rose?

Leon debuted in DOA2 like Ein and Helena in 1999 on the dreamcast. Rig is new for DOA5

Mila rig* and Marie rose lol and another VF or a brand new character from scratch? You're gonna win that bet either way that's the only 2 types of characters it could be xD unless they are returning characters .. but that only leaves clones pretty much.. Spartan is rachel, shiden is Hayate .. well and then there's genra broke ass lol
Hey Konin! I know I've been a bit harsh on u the past few weeks and I know that's wrong of me to do so. I have come here to make amends with you. I apologize! I know it's not easy learning a game like DOA, I've been through it! xD It was wrong of me to put harsh criticism and bashful words about the way you play. I am truly sorry. Hope your DOA Journey continues with Greatness!

I wanna make amends also. I too was a jerk and I apologize as well.
Anyone have any tips on how to use Rig? Even though I won't be able to learn him within the monthly trial, he seems a bit interesting.

    Instant3p
Rig also has sit down stuns in 7P on NH, 7K on CH, 33K if the opponent is crouching, 3K from bending stance if the opponent is crouching, and 7K from his bending stance but only on a CH or when it's fully charged. Those can lead to guaranteed critical burst setups if your opponent doesn't slow escape.

    Instant3p
For example whenever you get the chance..try, 7P, 7K, and 33K and that's a guaranteed CB setup.

Speaking of Toonami, Ronin Warriors - my favorite show that aired at the time - is getting a re-release on DVD early next year from Discotek with corrected translations and all the bells and whistles of the Region 2 versions of the DVD collection. That's the one thing that's got me more hyped than Sailor Moon.
Confession: Originally, because I had Core Fathers version of DoA and only 4 ninjas & trial characters, all I wanted was(female)win poses.->

waiting for the next trial of characters took too long so that's why I went online to get win poses from other lobbies of people who had the full game & roster. Trying to beat other players still mattered to me, but not as much as trying to get win poses.

To be honest, I initially was playing the game the wrong reasons... right up until I actually got into the competitive side of the game while also realizing that there was actually a scene where I live. I mainly came from KOF in terms of FG competition but I am branching a bit towards other games such TTT2 and now DOA...
Another random question: What's the difference between psn scrubs/noobs and xbl scrubs/noobs if there are any?
    Yurlungur
    Yurlungur
the xbox players have no excuse to be scrubs tbh, they bought the game, it wasn't free they can learn
    PMS_Akali

Nobody has any excuse to be bad at this game to be fair. Also, the netcode is the worst netcode in a game ever. I can see people who got hyped and bought it, and then dropped it after a couple matches lol

There is no difference. Scrubs are the same no matter what platform you go to. Some people exaggerate this based on their personal experience on said console and assume everyone on that particular format is like that, as opposed to weeding them out. If more people focused on that, we wouldn't be having these biases between online communities.
Can anyone help me understand what a "try hard" is and what's so bad about being one? I thought trying hard in a game was a good thing. :/

being a try-hard for me is when you go Super saiyan god and whoop everyones ass so bad they hate you for being so better and say "damn nigga why are you trying so hard" and say "it's what I do~" and get kicked and then everyone hates you online because you are too good and god I need to make a new xbox account IMeanWhat?

    DoANoob
huh, so that explains it. I've been seeing random lobbies saying, "no try hards, etc" Also I was watching one of SinfulDesire's R.A.T vids and heard that term spoken a lot. lol

If you get called a "Tryhard", wear it like a badge of honour.
My DS3 ps3 controller finally kicked the bucket so I'm stuck trying to use the Nyko Core Controller.
Lost 6-10 against my cousin. 1st few matches were terrible with my Htomi vs his Ayane. I used Hayabusa after, but still lost.
Noob question; How is it that a chop/uppercut- like attack is classified as a mid strike? It looks like a high strike cuz it hits the head.
    Rikuto
    Rikuto
DOA logic. Try to understand where the majority of the attack's trajectory comes in close proximity to the persons body. Then it makes sense to a degree.
    Rikuto
    Rikuto
For example... an uppercut would certainly connect "high" on a standing opponent as it would bash their head skyward. However, following the same trajectory it would also smash in someones face who was crouching, simply sooner.

    Therefore, mid.
    Force_of_Nature
    Force_of_Nature
Like Rikuto said. The attack moves in a upward or downward motion like vertical strikes in SC.
