  • Honestly, with all of these online tournaments being held for these older fighting games because of COVID slowing down the developments of the newer games + closing many people in their houses where they don't have anything better to do after a while negates almost any excuse for anyone who wants to play older fighting games but can't because there aren't players on it usually.

You'd think that Sega would know better to re-release some of their games on current gen consoles and PC given the massive library of old and good games they have but apparently they know better. Well, maybe the recent success of Persona 4 Golden on Steam will make them think about it again.
    Hold_Junkie93

I have a feeling that Sega only releases stuff because they think the target audience in particular region or whatever, or are fake.
I only now learned that Arc Sys restructured most of their company, positions and development teams, Mori isn't the developer/director of Blazblue anymore, instead, he's the company's "Branding Fellow", apparently for a good couple of months now. On one hand, this is the death sentence to the Dark War mobile game, we won't be hearing anything about it for a long time, if at all.

True, which could be the reason why we didn't get any tours for Europe, I don't remember/know big European Blazblue or Granblue streamers or competitors at all and indeed, I don't think they care about their netcode, they always listen to their Japanese fans first regarding almost everything right and wrong about their games, unfortunately at times.
    Force_of_Nature
    Force_of_Nature
Yup, it's unfortunate and quite frankly holds back the growth of most Japanese games.

The netcode of their games really have to be the worst in order for them to do something about it, like how UNICLR might get rollback/netcode improvements in the future, because it is indeed garbage even in EU, out of like the 20 matches I had with different individuals only one, one was that had a 2 frame delay, the rest 3 or above, way above.
What are your opinions on RE in Soul Calibur 6? For me, its a mechanic that is there as something extra that you need to be mindful of but its not annoying at all...well, in S2 it isn't. Over relying on it will either get you often sidestepped, which is easy with SCVI's movement or making you eat a lot of damage when the opponent uses a guard break move against it.
    ChaolanLegacy
    ChaolanLegacy
It is a good option when you're seeing a move coming with a lot of hits in order to build the soul gauge and it isn't a bad defensive option but overall it isn't something that one should be relying on too much, it is something that should be whipped out a few times in a match only....unless you're Talim.
    Radiance

I thought it was annoying at first, but Soul Calibur has plenty of safe attacks that allow you recover, react, and sidestep in time. If you're playing safe and have solid fundamentals then RE probably won't phase you at all. However, I did like the use of meter in SCV, having access to EX moves whenever you have meter and not just in Soul Charge.
    ChaolanLegacy
    ChaolanLegacy
Well, Yoshi still has attacks that cost meter for him to do despite him not being in soul charge but thats one of the unique things about him, moves that make him gain/absorb meter which he can use for ex moves, so I guess one could say that its not completely gone.
Roshi got revealed, I mean, many, including myself thought that he'd be one of the 5 dlc characters of this season pass, nothing surprising here, this is still nice, with all of these immensely strong (story-wise) and more popular characters that they could still put in the game from Z, GT and Super, they chose one who's been there since the original DB anime/manga. Now, Omega Shenron next?

Quick question. Will I get into trouble if I use emulators in order to play older games of which I'd like to make some videos of and upload them to YT? My guess would be that I won't since guys like Maina use emulators for TAS videos, also other content creators upload videos of hacked/modded older games but I just want to make sure by asking you who know more about this/content creation.

    SaihateDYNAMO
I’m no content creator but I don’t think you’ll get in any trouble since there’s no real proof that the ROMs you’re using are from games you haven’t purchased. The implication is always that it’s “legal” use of an emulator.

Legally, no. They have no recourse. They can put pressure on youtube/twitch to shut down your channel for other reasons though, and because they want a continued relationship they will nearly always bow to such pressure. That said, you would have to attract a lot of unwanted attention. Normally they dont care.
Yo, the Samurai Jack game is made by ex-NG devs? It does look like the game is fast paced and its combat seems great. The first trailer didn't really impress me but damn, this looks good now, might have to get it relatively quick after its release (it is also the closest thing that we'll get to a Ninja Gaiden game for the time being).
Belial's pretty sick, been waiting for this man to come to GBFVS, now I have to try to get the game faster so that I can main him....still hoping for Beatrix later down the line. *Checks prices, 65 pounds for character pass/SP1 on PSN UK*, well, whenever that'll happen, PC version shall be the move!
A Twitter BBTAG news account + its discord will hold an online tournament for a couple of fighting games starting in August 15 and it'll last throughout the entirety of September it seems, the games are BBTAG (not a surprise), Tekken 7, GBFVS, P4AU, MK11, 3SOE, KoF 13 and......Naruto Storm 3? Surprised they didn't go for KLK:IF instead. Ethernet cable is "HIGHLY encouraged but not mandatory" oh boy....
A couple of players from the competitive community of SC are already saying that Setsuka is close or as strong as Leroy was in Tekken. This can be an issue, especially since it isn't easy for the balance team to come up with balance patches out of nowhere, since they are asking for nerfs already. Eh, idk, its really just too early to ask for a nerf yet, let us see how strong she is after people played with her

Setsuka/Alpha Patroklos have always been powerful characters. IMO she was a mishima. Now shes a Mishima without the execution. I don't know about taking away her just frames and watering her down.
    samuraihachi
    samuraihachi
Actually, her just frames might not be completely gone. Check out some of the combos people posted on youtube. This reminds me of SCV Alpha Pat. I haven't gotten a chance to play her yet cause of the storm but yeah she's definitely easier from her SC3/4 version from what people are saying.

Takahashi did say on Twitter that she's simplified compared to the previous games in which she were playable but a lot of veterans and newcomers will find that she still has enough depth in terms of gameplay. @samuraihachi Yeah, I highly doubt that being able to hit like 2-3 agB's in a juggle is possible without the use of the just frame version of the move.
Hold up, I might be going crazy over here. The stage that was shown off in the T7 trailer, looks kinda similar to the Temple of the Dragon stage from DOA5. There might be a reason why we see the mountain, or more specifically, Mt. Fuji in the background. These are 100% speculations but, guys, there is a small chance that we might see a "DOA" character in Tekken after all. Or its just Kuni with a new stage.
    inochinagi
    inochinagi
Apparently some people on twitter are even speculating that it could be Ryu Hayabusa. If that's the case, I wish this was a tease for Soul Calibur instead, lol.

it is Mt. Fuji and the Chureito Pagoda. A couple of players did some close-ups to the character and it is definitely a female character but for some reason I don't think that its Kunimitsu, since the clothes appear to be red and black colored but Kuni has purple coloured costumes in every Tekken game but we might see it that way due to the sun in the background+distance.
    ChaolanLegacy
    ChaolanLegacy
Or if they just gave her a new look, which might be likely but I doubt it. Since none of the NG/DOA female ninjas have a costume that looks similar to the one seen in the trailer, its either Kuni with a brand new costume, or an original female ninja who may or may not inherit some of Kuni's moves, we'll just have to wait and see.
No matter which Soul Calibur game I'm playing, I'll probably always struggle vs a good Voldo player, I just have no idea what to do about the attacks the Voldo player throws out 70-80% of the times.
The fact that Daigo is almost 40 years old and can still keep up with the world's best is amazing. Winning the first Asia East qualifiers and not only that, a couple of days prior to the event he faced Tokido in a first to 10 and he won 10-0. The dedication that he has towards the game is something else, even if he is more of a ft10 god these days, do not count him out of the fight in tournaments.
If PS Now will be 4k 60 on ps5 with a couple of minor improvements to streaming the games (since people are saying that it is better now than how it was) and add a lot more PS2 and 3 games + make the ps3 ones downloadable as well then I would consider getting a 1-year subscription but I still think that its better to try and find a ps3 console in a barely used and its working fine kind of state.

4k 60 fps would be nice but honestly i just want reduced latency, if PS now games were 1-1 when it came to delay i would purchase a subscription in a heartbeat, but as it is now it's pretty much only good for games where reactions mean diddly squat, which for me is most RPG's and Visual novels
Wonder if Dark Cloud 3 will be a thing in the near future. I hope that they'll make a third game, the first one was quite a lot of fun, despite a couple of bad things that made the experience less enjoyable than it could've actually been.

Akihiro Hino has developed interest for more Dark Cloud too, but not sure what happened there. It's already 2020.

Well, lots of Yo-kai stuff happened and is going to happen but outside of that I haven't really heard much about Level-5 and their projects. Maybe once next gen is out we might hear more about them, I mean, a Ni No Kuni 3 on PS5, Switch and Xfridge is bound to happen, PS3 got the first game and PS4 got the second one, I feel that they'll make a new game for the new consoles and Steam.
Opinions about FFXIII-1 now that a lot of years have passed since its release? I tried it out on PC and its pretty good. I just remember the game having mostly negative reception when the PS3 version was released but from what I see nowadays people changed their opinions and they're saying that its a good game along with XIII-2 while having mixed opinions about Lightning Returns.

FFXIII is a disgustingly underrated game by the general gaming community. It's always been a solid game with some, well, obvious flaws to its design. Though nothing fatal. The game holds up amazing even about 10 years later. Looks awesome on an XBone X for example (and on PS3, though it looks like ass on a base XBone).
Asking those who had used this controller or are still using it: How good is the Hori Fighting Commander controller? Need a new controller for fighting games since both of my Sony PS4 controller's d-pads feel like I'm pushing something made out of rubber (eraser) (black one=right d-pad, red one=down d-pad, black one at times doesn't react to db presses) and for something that is around the Sony DS4's price

it's ok. The problem for me is that its too small and the shoulder buttons basically press themselves under the weight of my grip.

Horipads are fragile af, if you're gonna get one make sure you get the latest model (the one that doesnt have the dpad angle adjuster), that one will last you for a good while, as for feel, personally I like it; it's slightly larger than a DS4 so if that pad feels small the Hori will feel just right

Thank you for the replies! Think I'll stick to buying another PS4 controller then, hope it'll resist until the PS5 gets released and the new PS controller will be good for fighting games in almost every aspect, I doubt it but we'll see. I am going to be on the lookout for a better controller, sooner or later I'll definitely need one that I can be fully satisfied with.
Why is Orie from Under Night such a well-known and beloved character? Out of the few instances that I've seen her from the arcade mode of the game, she's nothing super special, then again, so are all the other characters, they all are entering in the Night like shit is going to hit the fan and they're causing it with their own hands and they're more than ok with it at times.

True but even then her fanarts on Twitter get mad likes most of the times. Guess this is one of those instances where no one can explain it, she's just really liked as a character and thats pretty much the reason why she's such a popular character.

She’s the textbook “pure anime waifu” in terms of personality and design. It also helps that she’s super easy to play.

Went through her trials yesterday and I can definitely affirm that she's relatively easy to play with. Guess its a combination of those points that make her a well-known character of the franchise.
A KH modder who made a "Critical Mix/Master Difficulty" gameplay mod for the ps2 version of Kingdom Hearts Final Mix took down the mod or made it private because of her inboxes/email being flooded with death threats, hate and doxxing because of people being frustrated with the somewhat incomplete difficulty mode. I see that death threats are just flying left and right towards people nowadays....
Asking those who played Doom 2016 and Eternal. Is Eternal better than 2016? I'm having a lot of fun with 2016 which is something that I rarely say about a shooting game. If Eternal is even better, then it most probably rises to the top or close to the top of games that I would like to get as soon as possible.
