  • Ngl starting to hop on the MK wagon a bit. Learning MK's been fun offline. And getting Liu Kang/Shang Tsung combos is pretty tough (dope). Gotta learn the game fundamentally now but it's a fun grind.

Playing FG's offline ngl's getting me a bit back to my kid days, just having fun, learning fundamentals, and no worries about 3 bars, unbalanced MU's, online YOLO stuff, trolls, etc. Now I just need sparring partners or someone to grind w/ me like in 2k and all will be good.
Tbh the last GREAT era of fighting games was during the PS2/XBOX/Gamecube days. PS2 days focused on the TOTAL package. Though online wasn't as big to me back then. Them games were even hitting platinum hits, 10/10 scores, etc.

Now a days, games can come out buggy af, 5 years later and the netcode's still butt cheeks, balancing is all over the place, no emphasis on fundamentals and what makes any FG unique, dead support from devs after a year or 2, DLC practices all over the place paying for frame data, hair, and characters should've been in the game already, lackluster tutorials, garbage bin stories, un-innovating characters, etc.

TBH it's because of online netplay why fighting games aren't the "total package" anymore. It requires a tremendous amount of resources to develop netcode and online multiplayer and it unfortunately led to the scaling back of content in 7th gen onwards. As much as I hate to admit it, DOA4 was probably the best balance of both worlds, solid offline content and solid online content.
Finally got to Super Bronze just to lose to a 1 bar Sakura and get demoted yet again. I hate Street Fighter V.

The irony is that SFV is the only modern 8th gen fighting game with rollback netcode. How could Capcom fuck it up so badly?

Need to contact Ed Boon or the people with Killer Instinct or someone with good rollback netcode. Outside the mechanics (Personal preference), the package of SFV:CE is actually pretty good. But FG's need to stop just gearing towards E-sports and "everyone can win" and thats it, while playing online and such is so bad. Gotta make the TOTAL package.

Hopefully 9th gen goes better with Daisuke implementing rollback into GG Strive. With as successful as Tekken 7 has been, I don't know what to expect with Tekken 8 next gen and haven't really been feeling T7 from Season 3 onwards for some reason despite the added frame data (we'll see how S4 goes).
Playing Kazumi's making me realize my poking game reeks across the board. But it's to be expected. Much of my characters are either well-rounded, defensive, or specialize in rushdown.
So my tekken ranked session today went from hoping for the best (and hopefully not raging) with Diablo Jin & regular Jin to helping a player learn Diablo Jin and basic tekken, though I'm learning Diablo Jin & re-learning Tekken. It was kinda cool ngl. I felt like Jiraiya, though my tekken non-good.
Season 4 looks promising by the ear. But tbh, my hype level after yesterday's tourney went down ten-fold. I can only go 1-2 in tourneys, lab to lose to same MU's, play online to bad netcode, and deal w/ bloated near broken characters for so long.

But Kuni looks cool (In a way though she looks like a better noctis), increased health helps but only if meter gains slower and combo damage is nerfed, and netcode being better is promising, but then why make an online world tour for season 3, when you know season 4 netcode's better. Why not let us play that tekken? It's whatever at this point. I'm not good, I don't feel good, and it's just whatever now.

Tekken 7 is over since a while now...

    Gimme DOA6U and VF6 instead.

    And stay safe man.

Thanks. I'm hoping for VF6. I'll be fine. Just dealing with frustrations and had a couple of weeks dealing w/ some sc pains. But hope for the best.
Welp my online tournament run ended. I think this is the last time I'm ever doing an online tournament on this generation's console. Should've just waited for season 4.
One thing I realized while speaking to some friends: With Tekken & DOA's "story", the biggest issue outside the actual main characters (Not Marie or Honoka) when there's something to build off from a previous story, they don't do it, or they overdo a corny aspect of the story and nothing progresses.
Tekken tourney this weekend. Not expecting much but just hoping for good games. Last online tournament I played in Tekken, felt like I was playing in quicksand. And got back Bronze in SF but after this past week, I'm taking a break. Netcodes so bad man.
I saw that a graphics card sold out and now on ebay it sells for thousands. Does this graphics card allow the game to look like how the ps5/xbox series x would or it's just overhyped. I'm trying to get some clarity real quick.

yeah but you need high end cpu and ssd for that, plus many AAA games are now timed exclusive for console anyway
Advantage to Digital PS5 for me: Cheaper. Less worry about discs and stuff. Available from the get go. Disadvantage: At the mercy of PS Store. Unknown how much storage. Digital can be the way to go. Tbh. I'm actually kinda torn now.
Today was a good day. My casual DOA session was fun w/ Lisa & others (I choose random now) and I got back my bronze rank. Progressing more and starting to see more patterns in regards to good neutral SF play & offense rushdown SF. Also considering Fighting EX Layer. The game looks tight ngl.
Signed up for Tekken online tourney. Hopefully season 4 would be on by the time the tourney starts. Not really trying to play season 3 tekken online. But regardless, gotta get back to Tekken shape. Haven't played in a while.
Watched the EU tourney and ngl, I've been beginning to think Eliza's not as bad as imagined. Certainly not as good as hyped up (her fundamental tools reek to me still), but she can have a say so in how the game flows, until she fights Leroy, Fahk, or a backdashing character.

Also, I got demoted back to rookie in SF. Might revise my rank strategy due to grad school reasons. And from the TGS stuff & season 4, I'll look more into that stuff but the most surprising thing would be if there was VF or even a DOAxVF. Season 4 hopefully would be out at least before the Korea tournament. But we'll see.
Finally got to Bronze in SF. It's a first step as I progress. Learning Akuma in Tekken and ngl, as much as I get frustrated w/ the MU, I do respect how much work it does take to excel w/ him. I'm barely getting the 1st part of the b1 combo. It's kinda fun to go through. Lastly, I played some DOA 5 and I slept on Nyo & Rachel. They're not bad to use.
Week 1 of SFV mokujin progress is finished. Won 3 of 15 sets which is awful and the last day was atrocious where I had chest pain (Due to SC). Better physically right now. Still got other characters I didn't play but Hopefully Week 2 will be better.

Instead, it just turns to "Can I anti-air", "Can I get by Hadokens", "Can I combo w/o getting CA's or whatever even on hit", and "will the netcode be good." But I do enjoy the game of SF, T7, & other FG's itself. It's just online I hate. I probably took a page from Sajam in regards to learning fg's (Outside the mokujin stuff. That's knee.)

Bro, I know about Mojukin, is why I said why play every character? I get it for shits but I need some autonomy. Though, you can learn more matchups this way but it ain't really needed. I think a character I like, makes the game enjoyable. Like we're getting thru together. Hell these microtransactions with characters behind a paywall, this idea of yours almost seems impossible. Though, best of luck to ya, holmes!

I see your point and it's not wrong. I just feel that this would be more enjoyable for me. It doesn't mean I don't grind the characters I use and such. I play them more in casual matches & lobbies as that can give me insight on MU's & what other players do. It's just me looking more deeply and challenging myself, especially since idk when I can play offline again.
Getting better w/ SF slowly. Played Kage & Akuma and better results in ranked, though I played them the same as if I would play Ryu. Still some getting used to w/ invincibles, wake-up CA's and hit confirming. The only complaint at this point: The netcode is not great. It literally hurts my eyes and makes it hard for me to focus. ESL tonight. Wish a brother luck. After, back to the mokujin grind.

Good luck. Don't grind that mokujin too much or you'll choke on sawdust.

Update: I pulled from the tournament. It was too many occasions where I was searching all over for my MU's and games ended up being forfeited. I'll wait til October or something before I do another ESL.
So 2 sets in and maybe it's me, but I don't understand how someone can do a critical art while in Stun and I get killed for it? That to me should never happen. But not angry. Just learning from scratch in ranked.
