Dead or Alive 3 Custom Skins/Costumes thread

Greetings FSD!

I've been working on a lot of costumes for DOA3 for a while now, and I figured that some of you might be interested in getting some - maybe even all - of them.

Download link: http://www.mediafire.com/download/67i91pv9b5pp1m2/DOA3_costumes.rar

Here are some previews of the skins I made as well as some in-game models I extracted and made useable:

Getting the costumes to work in-game is actually very simple. You connect to your Xbox via FTP and then place the costume files in the folder where your DOA3 save is located. The American DOA3.0 and the Japanese DOA3.1 share the same folder named "54430001" and their saves are unfortunately not compatible with each other. The European DOA3.2 has it's own folder named "4d53002d".

Unfortunately there seems to be no way to get custom skins to work when you emulate DOA3 on an Xbox360. Or at least it didn't work when I tried it with a friend of mine. I'd love to be proven wrong about this, though.

If you're interested in doing some texture mods yourself, you can extract the costumes from your own copy of DOA3 using a program called AFSExplorer. Once that's done you can use the program GreedXplorer to extract and insert textures as well as preview your skin.

You can do it if you have access to a hard drive reader to see the tdata and udata. I believe the device I used years ago I was called an xport.

Lobe the DOA5 redesigns, and as I said you just can't have the files on the FSD server, but if you want to provide links to them being on a different server like sendspace then that's fine, just no nude hacks.

To those of you who are following this thread, I just wanted to mention that since I posted the first post I have been adding a few more costumes and updated some of the existing ones. OP has been updated with new screenshots.

That's it from me for now, hope you enjoy!
This is amazing. :D

Is Leon's "bay09" supposed to be Serious Sam? Because it looks exactly like him, haha.

Anyway, big fan of "ryu04." Nice work.

Seeing as how Raidou is being added to DOA5, I felt obligated to add him to DOA3 as well, so here's a Raidou costume pack: http://www.mediafire.com/download/2dgfsocqd65w4w8/DOA3_costumes+.rar

The last costume on the right isn't as well-made as the other two because it's one of the first texture mods I made, "ported" over from DOA2U. Still, I wanted to include some costume variety other than beard/hair/eye color.

One more update. I've added a few more costumes so that every character has 6 now, and I also did some minor fixes on a couple of the old costumes.

One last thing that's been done for a while, but I completely forgot to share: DOA3 had a couple of lines that sounded weirdly translated to me, so I went and rewrote some of the subtitles. For those who are interested, you can get the file for use with your game here: http://www.mediafire.com/download/66zn052nuunk2u6/Default.xbe
(Please note that I've only modified the English subtitles, and that the subtitles in the other languages might get a bit messed up when you're using this file)

Special thanks to @werewolfgold for his help in translating the Japanese lines to English.

Riiight, probably should have mentioned that. The file I've modified comes from the Japanese DOA3.1 version of the game. I'm guessing that the patch won't work with the American DOA3.0, but might work with the European DOA3.2, though I haven't tried with either of them.

I feel like a bit of a broken record, updating so often, but I figured out what the .cat files do and how to properly modify them. They weren't working on some of the extracted models (Chen, Genra, Hitomi's diving suit), but they're fixed now, and I've also updated the .cat files on a lot of the costumes to make them look nicer. I also managed to extract some textures from DOA4 to (hopyfully) make the DOA4-inspired costumes look better. The updated download links are in the first post.

I also did recolors of Genra and Chen, if you're into that kind of thing:
m213Vj5.jpg

They're using their default names right now, so you'll have to rename them if you actually want to use them on a character. (For example, renaming bni02 .cat and .xpr files to ryu69 makes it a Ryu costume.)

Look forward to seeing what you can do for LR.

I chose to omit the belt from King Bass because I'm pretty sure it would have looked really bad as just a texture.

I also updated a bunch of the other costumes, mainly a bunch of the DOA2-based ones by copying the .cat file properties from the actual DOA2U .cat files. I also revisited a few of the earliest ones I did and touched them up a bit.
