DOA6 has implemented a load of new terms to the game that seemingly still manages to be confusing to a lot of players, especially newer ones. Here is the abbreviated terminology, with the full name, both old and new for DOA6.

P - Punch (:P:)
K - Kick (:K:)
H - Hold (:h:)
T - Throw (:T:)
S - Special (:s:)
AP - Appeal
FR - Fatal Rush
FS - Fatal Stun
BB - Break Blow
BH - Break Hold
SDS - Sit Down Stun
FSDS - Fatal Sit Down Stun
BBC (BrBC)- Break Blow Cancel
OH - Offensive Hold
BT - Back-Turned
WC - When Crouching
WD - While Downed
SS - Sidestep
SSA - Sidestep Attack
KD - Knockdown
CH - Counter Hit
NH - Normal Hit
HiC - Hi-Counter
NC - Natural Combo
LMB - Limbo Stun
+ - Buttons pressed simultaneously (:+:)
_ (Underscore) - Hold / Charge button (:[H]::[P]::[K]::T_:)
[:4_::1_::2_::3_::6_::9_::8_::7_:]
: (Colon) - Delay String (:5:)

Directional Terminology:
(Best way for this is to look at a keyboard’s numpad)
1 - Down-Back (:1:)
2 - Down (:2:)
3 - Down-Forward (:3:)
4 - Back (:4:)
5 - Neutral
6 - Forward (:6:)
7 - Up-Back (:7:)
8 - Up (:8:)
9 - Up-Forward (:9:)
QCF - Quarter Circle Forward (:236:)
QCB - Quarter Circle Backward (:214:)
HCF - Half Circle Forward (:426:)
HCB - Half Circle Backward (:624:)
66 - Forward Dash (:6::6:)
44 - Back Dash (:4::4:)
33 - Crouch Dash/CD (:3::3:)

Each number represents a direction of movement, and notations for attacks.

Here is a chart for common Fighting Game annotations. This theory can be applied to DOA.

I wanted to make this before the game comes out to ensure that nobody gets confused when it does. Hopefully everyone will be in the know sooner rather than later.

Thank you for the work you put in! This will be helpful

You forgot Break Blow Cancels, which should go by BBC, based on how cancels of any sort (FADC, YRC, etc.) are usually abbreviated in fighting games.

Apparently I missed something. Whats appeal?
Appeal is pretty much DOA's word for taunt.

Also, 2 suggestions:
1) Need to add Offensive Hold

2) Idk how I feel about SDS and Fatal SDS being notated differently, since the only thing that changed was the property, not a separate thing itself, but that's just me.

What I'm about to say will probably be an unpopular opinion, and I'm probably gonna get chewed out for this, but I'd personally prefer BrBC to avoid specific innuendo.

But you guys do what you feel is right.

I've never heard taunts referred as that. Interesting.

Added BBC with BrBC in brackets, as we should be mature enough to know what that shit means without it being mashed down with innuendos. Thanks for pointing that out btw. I forgot Break Blow Combos existed for a little moment lmaooo

Another thing might be that we now might have to note the turn-around stun that’s in the game when you hit a sidestepping enemy with FR. Only because it’s going to be as significant of a stun as Limbo and FSDS now with this balance change. Unsure if we should add that to the terms list as TAS or is that too much.

Never?? The taunt button in DOA5 and 4 is listed as AP, and is also shown with notations in a few discussions. But yeah AP is Taunt.

Added OH.

I notated SDS and FSDS differently for now as I was unsure of which one to delete, but Fatal Sit Down Stun sounds mad dope. Also kept both there as it’s based off of one tweet. We can use both though, as they’re seemingly the same thing.

maybe it should be merged with:
http://www.freestepdodge.com/wiki/terminology/
or at least make sure both are consistent

Thanks anyhow

No problem, YEH.
I’m continually adding to the DOA6 terminology list, so I’m going to keep making references to this page.

This one is more condensed than the wiki one, as I wanted to remind people of what was concurrent in DOA6 and help new players know what the abbreviations meant. But yeah, don’t worry boss, because I shall be adding more information today.

BBC sounds so wrong hahaha, I am grateful you made this thread, Crap!
It does lmaooo but we can’t call it anything else xD

No problem!

They should’ve called it a Break Special Cancel, it would’ve sounded better. Not that I mind BBC, I love BBC but BSC would’ve sound cool too.
