While this entire year has been fairly uneventful for video games as a whole (Team NINJA player or not) the Summer Games week was once again a poor replacement of E3 with far less access, far less fun and far less games, but it's what we had to work with on the road to Gamescom and Tokyo Game Show. Many expect that Team NINJA & Koei Tecmo will show off their next big games soon while also considering that TGS is right around the corner as the most likely spot for the game conglomerate to make an announcement.
Koei Tecmo stealth dropped Samurai Warriors 4 DX on Steam and shortly after that announced Dynasty Warriors: Origins that goes back to the hack and slash roots of the series while offering new possibilities. For instance, you will not select from a plethora of officers but rather play as one hero through a story mode that provides the best graphics seen yet in the series. Those evil Yellow Turbans you encountered in Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty have returned once more to make your life a living hell!
Shortly after this reveal Hayashi discussed Koei Tecmo and possible future projects. If something is coming from Team NINJA, we can expect that it will likely be Ninja Gaiden IV or Nioh 3. While most people are not ready for a new Nioh; Hayashi spoke highly of its popularity along with Rise of the Ronin. Hopefully, events outside of this year's pitiful Summer Games triggers more reveals, and we aren't left with nothing at all, but regardless of what happens you can expect the latest game news here at Free Step Dodge!
Nintendo announced Koei Tecmo's sequel to the Fairy Tail franchise will be coming to PlayStation, Steam & the Switch. Considering that this is not a Team NINJA title; it will not take over their unannounced game for this year. Also, for people that are still playing the incredibly underrated Fate/ Samurai Remanent; the final DLC has dropped alongside a convincing YouTube trailer!
Team NINJA's Dead or Alive Xtreme Venus Vacation crew added another new Venus in late June named Reika that nearly doubled the player base count on Steam for her release week and beat Shizuki to the North American Steam roster. She's one of the most powerful characters in the game if you add POW & TEC numbers and she also happens to be the first lifeguard for Zack Island despite the attraction being open for more than 20 years.
While Koei Tecmo has left some doubt to players waiting on new games, we are assured and nearly guaranteed of something soon. There are a lot of games that people want, but Team NINJA is a small team and Koei Tecmo has been rotating franchises slowly this year. Even Romance of the Three Kingdoms 8 Remake was delayed despite being announced last year. Hold strong and maintain patience. We will either get our answer soon or denote that Koei Tecmo's release schedule is the slowest it has been since the merge.
