Official press releases in English bound to appear later, but in the mean time, sites like Dengeki are carrying first coverage of today's closed conference.

One has to wonder if this is why release support for Last Round has been so poor. Does anyone who knows the TN team, know just how much of it is left assigned to Dead or Alive? A project as big as Dissidia is bound to have sapped prospective development potential from the other projects going on in the office, and much of the mistakes made with Last Round were simple Q&A catchable problems, or DLC listing errors.

What's up with abandoning their core demographic to chase licensing revenue? Is this a Koei thing, perhaps? Source of the DoA6 engine, maybe?

Japanese press release up.

On a conciliatory note, Ramza from Tactics has been confirmed as being on the roster of 50 odd characters. Nice to see them expanding beyond the numbered titles this time. Here's hoping for some of the Deepground from Dirge of Cerberus.

It's a unique type of fighting game featuring protagonists and antagonists of every mainline Final Fantasy game beating the living shit out of each other, is what Dissidia is. Up until now, the game and its upgrades have been exclusive to PSP.

Ever wanted to see Kefka and Sephiroth duke it out? Then this is the game you've been dying to play.

The decision being made here is grand. This decision was HUGE for Team NINJA. They will drink massive coffee to not screw this up and can provide positive exposure to people who don't know who Team NINJA are or for those that want to know more about them. They will look them up and check on their history plus more people to likely purchase the games Team NINJA makes.

Really? It was available when I bought it.

Just checked and you're right 012 is not there. Try buying it from the PSN store on your PC instead. You can get it that way.
012 is ass anyway, lightning is in it. The original may be crazy unbalanced but it's definitely better lol.

Agreed.

Let's face it, Dissidia was only ever an excuse to recreate the Advent Children Cloud vs Sephiroth fight. As soon as they tried shoehorning a story into that mess, it went horribly wrong.

You must be trolling, 'cause that's an otherwise petty reason to dismiss the game altogether, considering you have many new characters other than Lightning (whom I assume you don't like) to choose from.

The EX Revenge mechanic also made activating the EX meter as a breaker against bravery attacks (usually when linked to HP attacks) more practical to use across the board. The new Assist mechanic was handled fairly well too. The Labyrinth mode is also an interesting challenge mode, plus you have the option to create your own quests and show them off to friends. And if that's not enough, they expanded on the versus battle by allowing you to level up to 5 of your characters at a time in Round Robin or Tournament mode, all with the "Groundhog Day trick" still intact to speed up your Bonus Day level grinding.

All things considered, the positives outweigh what you consider the one "negative", and there's still plenty to like here.

or the story will piss everyone off and they'll get blamed for it.

between Metroid's story, Spark's NGZ, and people constantly mistaking them for DMCs Ninja Theory they have a fairly poor reputation right now for things they had little to nothing to do with.

NG3 was their only big fuck up i think and even that was likely just a deal with Nintendo to sell Wii Us. DOA5 and Razors Edge are actually good and im pretty sure they worked on Hyrule Warriors otherwise Sheik would not have those Kunai on her legs.

That's def not the only reason, there were so many more things to be abused in 012 that never got patched. I wish they kept the endless mode from the original as well.

Shantotto and Feral Chaos are likely going to be hit with them. (Assuming Feral Chaos comes back. Character seems like a Dural in terms of ridiculous brave destroying and output.)

Honestly, as a fan of the PSP game I would definitely like to see this become a legit fighter of sorts. I believe it can if the system is handled well enough. 012 is actually a pretty solid game all things considered its just a bit simple is all. If they allowed for a bit more complexity, and they seem to be by making matches 3 vs 3 ala MVC3, then we could be seeing some interesting combinations based on characters chosen, attack setups, and assists. It would be nice to have some new characters as well.(Secretly hoping Rikku makes it in)
