    I saw a DMC panel of talks with the history of Devil May Cry from Capcom, and they were talking about the battle music from DMC1. Apparently some of the music samples were first used in SF: EX PLUS Akuma's theme (GOD HANDS). I never heard of Akuma's theme SF EX version til now so I looked it up. When I heard the song it blew my mind how Devil May Cryish it is:

    Damn! :O That's awesome. SFEX+A has always had one of my favourite FG OSTS, rivalling SSF2's even, and God Hand being one of my fave tracks (Garuda's Stronger is even better tho). Never made the connection with that track and some DMC tracks but it makes sense now that I think about it. DMC1's battle theme rocks (especially love the version of it for Trish's MVC3 theme).

    Capcom sometimes re-used or remixed some of the themes (or parts of it) from some of their games and use them in another, another example is this one which sounds very similar to the mission 1 theme from DMC3:

    The one thing I agree with Geoff Keighley on, is that there are some games that wouldn't sit right with a game formula being used everywhere, and i'm glad he pointed out that Genshin is one of them.

    There were moments of a timeline having too much Souls-like games, too much Battle Royale games, but there could be a timeline where there's too much Genshin-like gacha games.

    Genshin got compared a lot to Breath of the Wild prior to its release but what it ended up being is basically the open-world (a)rpg's Nioh, yeah, its obvious that some things are taken 1x1 from BoTW but it has enough new stuff to it that makes it feel different, like combat is faster and more oriented around team comps, elements and their reactions with weapons not breaking after too much use.

    As for their looks, it seems that these Chinese game companies make anime-like games look relatively similar, since games like NIKKE and Granblue look vastly different. Mihoyo ended up becoming big after Genshin, they weren't making millions of dollars prior to it. The prior game to it Honkai 3rd while it does quite well in China and SEA it wasn't and still isn't nowhere near as big as Genshin and HSR.

    Genshin came out during the start of COVID during the longest quarantine periods and iirc it was the only "big" open-world rpg releasing at the time, so that did help a lot but as @Camel with 2 thumbs says this is going to be the hottest thing on the market for a while until the new thing comes around the block, heck some Genshin-like games have already fallen off like Tower of Fantasy did.

    Mobile/gacha games usually start off pretty mediocre until the developer team finds their footing and has a clear vision on what they want to achieve with the game both in terms of its gameplay and when it comes to the overall package, either that or they end up closing down the more interactive/all servers after a couple of years.

    However, it is undeniable that the quality of these games is getting bigger and better these days given that the market is also getting bigger and better with time.

    Someone offered me $2000 for my PSN account for DOA5LR because it has Mai, DOAFES costumes of Kasumi & Marie Rose, and the Attack on Titan stage.

    Problem with that, is that it would not be enough because the individual would be taking my account with "all" the games I've purchased over the years (including presently).

    Yeah, selling your account is iffy. It's generally only done once you're finished with gaming on that platform for good. Really sucked that quite a bit of the DOA5LR DLC ended up expiring. There were some great collabs including with Attack on Titan.

    @Force_of_Nature Like, I recently bought Rise of the Ronin and Stellar Blade weeks back. Pile is just adding up. It's got to at least cover the new games.
    An account I had since the early PS3 days. While I don't play some of the games from back then, it's still not a easy decision to make because of the value since some of those games I can't get anymore.

    TMNT: Mutans in Manhattan by Platinum Games (delisted in PSN store)
    Tales of Xillia 1 & 2 in the media library for PS3 which are like over $200 on Ebay etc.

    Like the buyer has no idea that it's my main account with all my games. I'd legit lose all that. At that point I might as well just sell the PS3/PS4/PS5 lolol.

    Ngl, I have been kinda losing interest in fighting games especially with all the controversy surrounding Tekken 8. Don't even feel like playing online anymore, its like I wasted $80 on that PSN plus membership lol. Action Taimanin and Fortnite are my FGC retirement games.

    Even though Rise of the Ronin is pretty fun, will admit that it does get preeetty tiring of action games being placed in historical events from feudal Japan or set in ancient China. Ghost of Tsushima, Wo Long etc.

    Personally felt Stranger of Paradise was a breath of fresh air from all of that for TN's side.

    @TheIndustrialCowboy Totally fine in my opinion ahaha. Anything to avoid "back-in-the-day-before-cars-were-invented" moments. Like for example, I think it's totally fine even with a setting modern to Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth.

    For example at @Force_of_Nature , say you make/made a video and someone reacts to it on how well it's done. It helps both parties by viewing support in terms of spread (especially if it's like big content creators reacting to it such as Jwongg, Max). Things like tech, combo videos, character guides etc. There's actually a lot of stuff done by the community that goes unnoticed.

    Currently the issues i'm seeing is that the big names out there sometimes sees it as competition which is weird. On top that these days if you aren't a top SF6 player, then any guides or videos from someone that isn't a top player ends up not taken as serious so it demotivates anyone trying to contribute to that particular game's community pool.

    Confession: I like KBD in games. What I like about DOA/Tekken is that it has KBD in some form or another. Don't know what it is but KBD in games just looks so fucking amazing to me when you perfectly time it, your opponent whiffs, and you launch them for it.

    There's something about regular backsteps/backflips/back teleports that just looks incredibly dull compared to it, not sure why.

    Now just hold on there kimosabe! If Tecmo Koei gives what the fans want, this is a perfect time to release another doa game! Look at how stellar blade is coming along despite the backlash! Tekken 8 and SF6 are together on a plane spiraling downward!

    TK should go full on Hentai mode at this point. Cranking up the ESRB rating from M to AO! Keep in mind DOA has the top contender to deal with which is Stellar blade!

    Great post DB, this resonates with my thoughts and experiences with DOA5 & DOA6. Can't convert someone from their main game to DOA, unless they really don't like their current installment/game direction. For e.g.: Some SF players opted to play Tekken 7 over SFV back in 2017-ish.
