Ok, I probably can't talk because I haven't bought her yet but still I can say this:

I do see potential in this character and people underrate her too much when it's only been about a week since she came out. She has flaws like every character but she also has her benefits. Some people have managed to do great with her during that week(as great as they can online or offline) and that's because they haven't give up on the character after an hour or two. And some people that bought her knew exactly what they were getting themselves into and still bought her which makes no sense to me. We may even see someone surprise us by doing well with her in a tournament soon. I really doubt she's on that Eliot level.

What are the advantages you've observed?
Well, Phase has an amazing damage output, she's up there with Mila and Jann Lee.
She can teach players how to be patient, because you can't just rush at people
She also teaches people to use certain moves at certain times.
She is a high risk, high reward character that encourages people to really work to gain a win.
She shows how good of a tactic tick-throwing can be.
You have to mix up your offense a lot as her.
She has a high execution to do her combos, which can help with a sense of timing.
Lastly, For those that play Kasumi, Phase can help you become better with Kasumi.

There are probably more disadvantages than advantages using her but like I said she does have benefits.

Because I like Kasumi, like the character, like the shozokus, like the flashiness, and wanted to buy her.

Those don't sound like advantages, they sound like reasons she forces people to develop their fundamentals to put up a fight with her

That's like saying "I'll remove all your good tools so that you'll get better by struggling more than everyone else." Doesn't make her a better character at all, since you could then apply all that you learned to another character. None of these are advantages to the character.

It makes you wonder what the hell TN were thinking.

I guarantee you almost all of their attention went into juggles and the teleports. After that they were like-

Head guy: "Oh shit this is a lot of damage how do we balance her..?"
Balancing person: "I know! We'll take away 75% of Kasumi's moveset and give her a couple new moves that are really slow! Also let's make her even more unsafe."
Balancing person 2: "OH, OH, OH! On top of being really unsafe lets make a couple of moves 2-in-1's like 3PP to really screw her over!"
Head guy: "Hmm... Those all sound like good ideas, great work team. What about the parries? After all this she'll probably need them more than Kasumi and Alpha do."
Balancing person 1: "Take 'em away."
Head guy: "Well alright then"

I honestly don't think TN is playing favorites when balancing their characters.

I just don't think they know how to do it, and so everyone comes out with a random assortment of tools and some work well and others don't.
