There probably won't be much more Jann Lee players so probably will still be low. I will still be maining him though as he my favorite DoA character but most Jann Lee noobs love that dragon kick of his.

Isn't.... like.... Jacky Bryant better than Janitor Lee.....
I would say Jan Lee is a Stepping Stone Character like Kasumi Or Momiji.... they are there to prepare you for the real bad asses, Like Phase 4 or Hayabusa, Respectively.

Or in my case.... Janitor Lee is a character I would settle for because I suck with Jacky Bryant.

Thats not to say they are the same like Kasumi and Phase 4 are. Jacky is the Mix Up Master and Jan Lee is the Push Back Master.

Actually, the only things that make Jacky better than Lee is his mix ups, since like you said his mix up is godlike, but in everything else Lee outclasses him. speed, spacing tools, damage, you name it.

While he is one of the easier characters to pick up, to master him? that's the tough part, and reason for that is that he's too linear and too predictable so you need to have very strong fundamentals to actually play him.

And that is true, but partially, he can play rush down and keep away but he can't rely on just one for an entire match, again, that's where fundamentals come in place.

Jann Lee is better than Jacky without a doubt. He's also easier, indeed.

I don't know why but Jan Lee's Flying Kick ALWAYS gets me.... its embarrasing really, its such a Telegraphed move but it always gets me RAW.

Anyway.... isn't Jacky faster ? Because I can never counter poke him to save my life.... I can never counter Poke Jan Lee either but the difference is Jan Lee only pressures me with his Fists.... Jacky is all over me just punching and kicking me high and low until he catches me crouching..... Jacky can also move around the stage quickly with that slide Shuffle of his.....
Jan Lee has his infamouse Dragon Gunner.... which sees more use than Jacky's Parry....
Doesn't Jan Lee also have a Ceiling Hold ?

Its definitely not a white wash, Jan Lee is just as big a pain in my ass as Jacky.... but Jacky just a tiny bit more than Jan Lee.

Lee is definitely faster, they both have 10F jabs, Lee has an 11F mid while Jacky's is 12F, Lee also has a 13F mid kick while Jacky has an 15F one, Jacky has of course the godlike :2::P: which is 12F but Lee's is 13.

Lee's walk speed is among the best in the game while Jacky's is one of the slowest lol, slide shuffle is just ambiguous.

Dragon gunner is slow, just like the dragon kick, DK is 25F on start up, while DG is 23F, if you're having trouble against these moves that's more on you than anything lol.

Ceiling hold?? wut?, it would be awesome if he had one lol, :3::3::P: at full charge slams you against the ceiling but its techable.

Oh yeah thats the one.... I get confused sometimes.....
You know whats funny..... Jacky's 2P was 10 Frames in VF (just like every other character in that game)

I think I struggle with Dragon Gunner because the pressure just makes me freeze up and extremely hesitant..... The Dragon Kick.... I don't have an excuse for that one.... I can't even dodge it by accident.

And does walk speed even matter ? People move around by dashing and sidestepping so much that I barely get time to catch a glimpse of the glorious walking animation (Rachel and Marie have good ones)....
Their backsteps are interesting though. Jan Lee's has an easier 4P+K input but Jacky's harder to input 44P+K has a built in Parry..... it also has a ridiculously long recovery compared to Jan Lee's one.

Hmmmm.... maybe there is a reason to never graduate to Jacky....

Yeah ikr? 10F :2::P:s would be OP tho lol.

My best advice is to train your fuzzy guarding, DG is active only for a few frames so its easier to deal with it that way, another tip is that every Jann Lee in a pinch will try to DG you as soon as they get a stun, so always pay attention to your opponent's patterns.

It kinda does, since that means that character can free step dodge (lol) attacks faster, also it makes whiff punishing easier.

i think you mean Lee's :1::P+K: lol, yes its definitely better even though Jacky's :4::4::P+K: has a sabaki.

I personally play both characters and i can tell their pros and cons, each is best suited for a specific situation and matchup, and against each other? they pretty much trade back and forth, a 5-5 if you will.

See... told ya I get confused ! ;)
And yeah.... I haven't crafted a gameplan for Jan Lee yet because we go back and forth.... I focus on Jacky because he beats me more often....

VF has all sorts of Overpowered moves so they gave every character a fast low punch..... you can't get anything off of it (just like in DoA) but since they don't stuff like Holds then they needed something to deal with all the Guard Breaks and Step killers....
Guard Breaks in VF are way scarier than they are in DoA.
