I'm sure I will end up liking NiCO. She is not what I wanted, but I won't be too greedy and I'll try to be patient.
PRO:
- blue/turquoise is my favourite color
- we have the same name actually
- she seems smart and fun, good trope
CONS:
- i'm more of a "natural" person rather than "mech/science"
- she is too young and not Korean
- fighting style (or animations?) seems a bit stiff
MEH:
- her English voice is weird
- she is just a Lisa's replacement, so what does it mean for her?

I was feeling the same about Mila at first, but I realized how amazing, necessary and unique she is now in the whole roster.

I honestly don't know where people are getting she's too young to be a scientist when Lisa, who helped create Kasumi Alpha-152 is barely any older than Nico is(she's like 22?) on top of being a luchadore wrestler on the side.

I mean I can understand not liking her looks overall but let's not go into this nonsensical shit now.

I don't believe there's any identity crisis that people love or trying to blab onto about here. Shimbori has been stating his intention every other time IGN(yeah, that site that you can't spell ignorant without IGN?) and other sites trying to the socjus route and people actually trying to believe it:
The fanservice is just taking a backseat, it will still be there but it's not the focus.

And I also feel like people have no clue on WHY they have those packs there for Japan... it's for selling power. Most devout Japanese fans don't just buy a game once, they buy that shit twice. And the more benefits you give them, the more they will go for the highest editions right off the bat. It's why you see those fanservice games have shit like that or even non-fanservice games: It's to get the maximum bang for their buck.

And the locations are fine, I'm not even sure what people are even complaining about. It's not as gritty and dark as DOA5 and yeah, it's not DOA2 levels of stage ingenuity but it's still fine for what it is. I honestly feel that people are being way too picky with this and honestly need to take a step back a bit.

The presentation of the trailer seems to have a low resolution because some scenes do look really pixelated to me. Also, the anti aliasing in the "old DOA5" gym stage (Story Mode Scene) looks really "last gen".

I noticed that as well. This was probably captured from the 1080p PS4 version. Koei Tecmo/Team Ninja games this generation in general seem to lack antialiasing too. It was that way for DOA5LR, Nioh, Dissidia, Dynasty Warriors 9 etc. DOA6 will very likely not have it either.

The PS4s they ran DOA6 on at the event were Pros by the way...

I wonder what kind of improvement they bring. Higher resolution (maybe 1440p?), or still 1080p with improved visuals like for example a better antialiasing solution, higher resolution shadows, better texture filtering...the usual little quality of life improvements the Pro brings.

hot take: if you take [anime character with #color hair and clothing also in #color] and play with the variable field a bit you get ayane

The fanservice is just taking a backseat, it will still be there but it's not the focus.
i like how after rounds of "hell yeah they're toning down the fanservice!" we get an average in everything character with a meme color palette and a very conservative p1 and people somehow still find a way to crawl to other things and complain because ultimately it's all very roundabout, indirect ways to express "that's not my doll i had in my mind wtf how dare them?!"

I mean I can understand not liking the character since she is another 18 year old who does share similarities to Marie Rose(they need to stop that), but for fuck sake she's very conservative in her outfit selection, she's not flat chested like Marie because she doesn't have Honoka tier tits doesn't suddenly mean she's a bad character BECAUSE of that.

Hell I like her because of the fact that both of her outfits really get across the fact that she's a scientist and a technomancer that uses lightning(seriously, that's fucking awesome).

Nico looks fine. After playing Ninja Gaiden Razor's Edge and learning it and DOA share the same universe I don't think anything can be too out there for me.

The complaints probably stem from a person's perception of the series. I started with DOA5 so when DOA adds a character filling a specific character trait/stereotype like Honoka, Marie, and Nyo it is nothing new. Don't characters like Ayane, Kasumi, Kokoro, and Tina already do the same?

It reminds me of when people were complaining about Lucky Chloe and how she somehow didn't fit into Tekken. Like she was the one thing too outrageous for the series.

How did people react when the new characters in older DOA games were first announced? Wouldn't they, at the time, also get the same complaints people are making for Nico, Honoka, and Marie? All the DOA characters fit a specific character trope/trait and, at least for me in DOA5, looked really similar to each other with the most noticeable difference being the hair. I still remember thinking Kokoro and Leifang were the same character.

^^^i'll argue that the similarities stop at the eyes and the short nose. the bigger face contour but smaller facial parts resulted in her having a fatter face and a fuckhuge chin. they don't have the same expression so interestingly NiCO's slightly pissed face is more resembling of ayane for me

anyway, i don't think there's much point in pursuing the "doa characters have samefaces!?!?" subject for the 900th time when this is the series that was
mass printing kasumi's face in the itagaki era and continued copying and pasting faces UNTIL they found their new template in 5UAC. look at the two shameless samefaces on the right

sweet jesus on a tricycle are those the same fucking pose

yes. tits. small tits bad. big tits bad. medium tits BAD TOO. it's amazing how much this thing rots one's brain.

b-but why 18? it's such a cursed number now.
this is team ninja's tactic to silence that imaginary person who wants fictional characters whose job is to punch, kick, throw and hold some fucker on a screen to absolutely be legal age, because...
....because?

but i wouldn't be surprised if this person already exists.

Don't characters like Ayane, Kasumi, Kokoro, and Tina already do the same?
yeah, they all did. even the male characters did. but if i like it and it's been around for a while, it's a timeless classic. it's iconic. otherwise it's NOT classic, NOT iconic and just trash anime for weebs. never mind the tropes like fat anime tiddy ninja being even more commonplace than a electric shooting scientist?techno??mancer????. hell i can't even recall a fighting game kunoichi that ISN'T a cow.

i recently made a statement about kokoro and leifang confusing some people and i'm glad there's someone to confirm it's true

I actually like NiCo. I don’t think she is anything new or inventive, but I like that she is more serious than most of the other ladies in the cast and seems to play more on the evil side. Plus I love her VA. I like her aesthetic too. I like that she is more cool and cute versus sexy cute. Though she doesn’t really make me want to switch to a different main or change my favorites.

Love Kokoro’s New outfit and style. It’s fitting and cute. She will likely be close friends with NiCo. The boring stereotypical Asian Moe is always close friends with characters like NiCo.

Lisa... Lisa, Lisa, Lisa... I love how she looks in this game and that she is darker than she was in the last one. I hate her new default though. It’s so chunky and tacky. I like the idea of it being based on a Phoenix, but... her other outfit looks pretty bad IMO...

The fanservice is just taking a backseat, it will still be there but it's not the focus.

The prblem was make the character model less sexy and make them less curvy and with smaller boobs, the worst cases are Ayane , Elena and Kasumi.

If the TN just made models like something between DOA 5 and VV but with more cooler and conservative design people would be less angry, and more interested in buy the dlc from the beginning.

It really awkward see how they try to give a claveage to Kasumi using her clasic costume when her boobs are not that big to cause that effect, same with Elena.

18 isn't even that cursed... 16 was.

Honestly I hate that argument so much because all it really gets to me is that most fighting game fans love saying that argument... but don't realize how hard they contradict themselves with such nonsense.

Apparently Lucky Chloe is too much for Tekken... too much for a series that has you fighting:
TWO Kangaroo, one with his son/daughter with it as it fights.
A Raptor who kickboxes.
Multiple robots.
A Vampire.
3 people who can turn into devils and one of them became a wraith after she died according to the Tekken 7 Arcade
etc.

Ingrid is too much for the "realistic(PSH.... HAHAHAHAHA) Street Fighter series... again:
You have people tossing around Ki Blasts.
You have a man who is basically the freaking Devil(M.Bison) who is still alive even after his body is destroyed.
A man who might as well be God(Gill)
A woman who is said Devil's good side(Rose)
And so on and so forth.

And now it's the same thing for DOA despite it being just as otherworldly as any other fighting game. It's basically the dumbest comment you can make and to anyone with common sense, they would never use that argument as a basis for why they don't like a character.

I feel like you ignored what people said to use this argument again. DOAX3 models are inherently different from DOA5's models for very good reason. DOA6 is primarily using the basis of the DOA5 models. Ayane and Kasumi have the same base models, Helena should have had the old model people was complaining about since that was the size that people rounded her to beforehand.

I say something between the DOA 5 and VV models.
You know a midground between them.
Yeah both girls are using the same base model but they are less curvy and have smaller boobs.

Well, after watching the trailer a few times I think that with a better costume I could appreciate this new character.

Aaaaaaaand a video of her style, for a foreshadowing of what she should be able to do. I think that her lightning speed and electric discharges feets well with the style

That was when I first started DOA so I didn't look at or even considered the details you are describing. I just needed something obvious to learn who was who. For example, Ayane is the purple hair ninja, Kasumi is the brown hair ninja in blue, Mila has red hair, etc. DOA5 was the first and only game where I had an issue differentiating characters from one another. Now that I think about it I'm surprised that the issue can even exist.

People have their own views about their games. Some people think Honoka and Marie were too out there and didn't fit DOA. I just saw them as some good looking females being added to a game that has been doing exactly that for a while. I didn't want a blonde loli and a schoolgirl but it wasn't strange at all for them to be added. Also, contradictions are just a part of fighting games.
