Well it's better than anything he has in the main game. Number 1 reason I just kept his default coat on the whole game even post adult Noctis, and because his HP is so garbage

To be completely honest the main teams extra outfits aren't that great in general, I like their default outfits but when you get into chocobo outfit and the hoodie with the baseball cap one it goes down hill. The other characters though always looked good. ( Luna, Aranea, Iris, Cidney etc )

Cool to see Aranea also got a new outfit though and not just Prompto. ( It gives me hope that she'll get her own episode eventually... ) We'll find out anyway in about a day now but I wonder If the snow mobile is literally just for one scene or something or If we'll be able to drive it around to get from place to place, though I guess that depends how much of an open world it is?

I still want a codex and Bestiary or this game. They spent all that time on those "World Of Wonder" videos of the creatures then didn't actually be indepth about them in game. Say what you want about FFXIII but it having that codex really helped in terms of understanding the more unexplained or unimportant locations.

I don't think its open world, but will be explorable according to gameplay interviews at E3. Plus, they mention a bunch of side quests, I'm not expecting much though.

My guess is this will be about the length of Episode Duscae demo which was sizable but not too short or too long.

They wasted so much potential with the lame designs and low count of costumes. They should've made cool outfits for a good price (1$ each?) available soon after release and they'd given the players a much bigger incentive to play and replay the game and they could've made tons of money. They really botched it.
You could give the guys such cool costume sets...
- set of mafia-like (or MIB) black suits and shades.
- set of beach outfits
- set of Christmas outfits
- set of Power Rangers-like costumes (is this still coming?)
- set of other Final Fantasy characters (Noctis as Sora, Gladio as Jecht, Prompto as Vaan, Ignis as...

Are you serious? XD

Lol! I actually only included Cidney cause I knew It would cause people that reaction! XD

And yeah It was a missed opportunity with the characters extra clothes, not to mention there honestly just isn't that many as I thought there would be. I remember when I was expecting for a start that there would be more than two cities in the game and that they'd be larger. And I thought they'd have a clothing store in them to buy clothes from. For example you'd get more high class expensive clothes from Altissa and more casual clothes from Lestallum.

Curious. If the Ignis DLC arrives will we be able to play the missing parts within chapter 13 using Episode Ignis controls too? Same as Gladio for example, but playing as Ignis on that chapter within the menu.

If so, I can now play a Daredevil FF character lol. (If that happens).

Yeah...I remember. :( Back then we also all thought there wasn't just one continent but also a second one to freely explore. I remember discussing this for months full of excitement on Neogaf. There was the huge world map they revealed and we dissected:

And the cool concept art of Terraverde:

And them claiming Altissia was so huge and freely explorable that even the developers would get lost in it.

Omg yes! I remember when It was thought that it would put the Witcher's open world to shame by how gigantic it was going to be and that you could traverse the whole way from Duscae to Altissa to the giant other areas of the game ( Which got left out entirely or spent 5 minutes going past on the train ) Crazy just how gigantic the game would have been If they'd actually included all that?

Hey, hey, hey! Calm all that down l0l

First of all, R.I.P to the woman in your avatar. And yeah poor Cidney always being attacked for her fashion #choices.

While we are on the topic... I still remember when they said the story would take 50 hours, instead even Type-0 is longer.

I never played type-0 but lol It's a shame FFXV wasn't as long as it, It did go through a lot of changes during it's decade+ years of development, It's just sad that they weren't able to do all the things they wanted to do with it. At least we're getting to see more of it the world and characters though the dlc. I'd honestly like another game set in the world of Eos too. And It seems like they will since they've done this whole "FFXV universe" thing like with FFVII.

It wasn't THAT much shorter than 50 hours though, XV and Lightning Returns both took me 45 hours first time through.

Which is basically the norm for most JRPGs now, unless your name is Persona 5 I can't think of many modern JRPGs/JARPGs that do go over the 40 - 50 hour mark.

Well, when I did NG+ it took me 20~ hours for the story (don't think the fact that you're OP in NG+ changes that too much), so if this isn't much shorter than 50.... the first time it took me 40~50 hours too if I remember correctly, but it was with side quests and hunts in it.

What about Tales of Berseria? Don't know about you, but it took me 50~55 hours to complete it without ANY side quest. Definitely the longest story I've played in years.

I'd say Type-0 is at least 5~10 hours longer than XV if you only go through the story (maybe 10 hours is too much).

Also, most of you guys didn't play Type-0, but I noticed it shares quite a lot similarities with XV, both story and gameplay wise, so when I compare XV to another FF game, it's Type-0 lol. For the story I'm not referring to the Fabula Nova Crystallis mythos of XIII/T-0 (some of them are still kinda in XV even if named differently), but to some basic concepts that set the story.
I'm not surprised though since Tabata is involved in both games.

The pure story of FFXV without any side stuff is about 30 hours. That's imo very disappointing for a numbered Final Fantasy. Lets also not forget that the side stuff is actually just simple fetch quests and monster hunts.

I'm actually including Berseria, and that was with side quests so idk how it took you that long. I didn't rush the game at all either I actually looked for all the side quests_ Skits and stuff like that. The only thing I didn't do was Dark Turtlez and post game stuff.

EDIT: my completed save file is at 48:44:37, still within the 40 - 50 hour mark.

The longest JRPG I've played in the past few years is Persona 5 at a whopping 103 hours just for one single play through and I only saw barely half of what there is.

Tbh I think FFXV's main game lasted just a perfect amount of time, I always did all the sidequests before moving onto the next section of the main game so it felt evened out to me. The post game content was good too. ( bicth taking out that dinosaur ( forgot it's name ) took a good 1-2 itself lol )

Also tonights the night Episode Prompto comes out! :D

Woah really? I was constantly progressing through the game without doing side stuff because the story was keeping me too interested, I just played around with a mini-game a bit and picked up 2 normin dolls because they were in the way.
With side quests (including the post-game ones, bonus dungeon and the Dark Turtlez battle) it was 75~ hours, and 100~ trying to platinum it/max levels and equipment lol. Maybe I'm just slow otherwise idk xD

Anyway, I wasn't complaining about the lenght of XV because I like long games, a short story is perfectly fine, as long as it doesn't have those huge plot holes craters, which unfortunately this game has. What bugs me is just that they said it was 50 hours but it actually is much shorter, which means A LOT was cut shorty before it was released for whatever reason, if not... they were just "lying".

I think it has alot to do with how the final 1/3 just throws you into the deep end and doesn't stop.

It takes away everything that made the first 8 chapters fun and forces you down extremely linear areas and throws the plot all at once too.

Had Altissia - Insomnia been just a bit better paced and didn't throw you into chapter after chapter it probably would have been much more lengthy.

Okay massive spoilers ahead for FFXV but I feel like we're at the point where we should be able to openly discuss it, right? Look away Kasumi since I don't know if you've got to Altissa?...Or you Chapstick lol. Also I'm probably gonna ramble...

Edit: Bitch this completely ran away from me and no longer is about the pacing of the game and instead is a kind of rant about the logistics of the Altissa section of the game and their lack of going into details about the world.

Okay so I think a problem with that Altissa part is that you get a boat to Altissa and once you've done that you are officially out of the open world part of the game, Maybe there was supposed to be other open worlds earlier in development but in the finished game it's linear once you get to Altissa ( I've forgot If that's the name of the country or the city? ) Then you go see Vivienne Westwood's dress and I remember you talk to Hilary clin... I mean the president of the country... Or the mayor of Altissa? Who was she again? Anyway you have a chat about how the entire city full of what must be Hundreds of thousands of people is going to be completely annihilated because Luna's summoning a god in the centre of the city. ( Also Hillary clinton mentored Luna or something? I remember them chatting ) Anyway what's confusing is that apparently this is some sort of ritual that Luna must do and is in legend... But it's all arranged between Luna and the government...But then why wasn't the city evacuated beforehand? I don't know If I've forgotten something that makes sense of that? Anyway then Luna does it ends up getting killed by a man who dyed his hair with manic panic and the entire city is completely destroyed killing what must have been thousands and creating a huge refuge crisis in the space of 5 minutes but let's just forget all of that because the game doesn't go into it... ( Where did they evacuate to though bicth? Inland? I hope not by boat cause that would be fucking stupid since it was a water based disaster... ) Well anyway I'm sure the surrounding cities and countries will do fine with a capital city being wiped out.
