For the main titles of course. Spin-offs like Lost Swords is kinda irrelevant.

They're all pretty complicated.

Nah, SCV is simple.

Soul Calibur's not really that complicated in general. It's arguably the easiest to play of the 4 main 3D fighters.

Yeah, and I think Soul Calibur IV is the hardest among the 6 Soul games only because of the move sets that have been modified to require precise timing compared to the other games (Setsuka's 1BB as an example), and majority of the new moves are just inputs. And Just Impact became more difficult to counter.

It is ?

Seemed really complex to me... but then again the demo didn't have a tutorial.

Well, generally, fighting games are complex because of the learning curve. But some fighting games are deeper than others, and Soul Calibur being the least deep among them.

Yeah, don't confuse "potential execution requirements" with complexity. VF & DOA are 2 of the most complex fighting game series, but aren't exactly rough on the execution side of things.

VF is pretty rough on the Execution side...

Most characters have at least one move or technique that's a throbbing pain in the Butt to execute.

Yep. The definition of depth lies on the variety of the mechanics of the game. A game like DOA5 gets new mechanics which its predecessors don't have which adds depth and layers to the game such Critical Bursts, Power Launchers, Power Blows, and new environmental interactions.

I think VF is kinda rough on the execution or maybe because the notations in that game are just insane.
