I thought the norm was 24 episodes per season

Anime episodes nowadays are starting to go an average of 12 episodes. Back in the past few years, it was 24-30 episodes as an average.

I'd say yes and no. While companies are definitely more hesitant to go for long-running series nowadays, 12 episode anime were still the norm as far back as 2004 or so.

Yeah but aren't they becoming more focused too ?

Fewer Deviations in the plot is a good thing...

Think of it like Bastion, it's an RPG the doesn't make you Grind for hours and hours.

Just be glad that most anime don't have to deal with filler B.S. like in One Piece or Naruto. The number of filler episodes for those two are ridiculous.

12 anime episodes have been there since the past decade, but they weren't the predominant number back then as they are now. Nowadays, there are anime that are just 10 episodes plus an OVA in them.

Naruto doesn't have filler Episodes... they have entire Seasons that are literally nothing butt 22 Episodes of fillers... back to back !!!

LoL... I mean... can you believe they even did that... its crazy.

Fillers are the causes to hundreds of episodes that were deemed unnecessary, making the anime series longer than it should be. Not every anime has to be 100+ episodes, it should be above 20 at least.

Or they could just make it a movie and be done with it....

But then I'd get bored waiting for the next one.
