Until 3D fighters learn to accept one another, it will only be huge for a short while and then drop later versus 2D fighters popularity due to players in the 2D genre having a better time hopping into another 2D game.

3D fighters can get bigger if players try to unite more from other 3D fighters.

I'l leave that up to you guys.... aint no way I'm going to lay down with Tekken Community.

What DB said. There are only 4 consistent 3D fighter franchises: VF, Tekken, DOA & SC. If you're a 3D fighter fan it is in your best interest to play and learn all 4 franchises. Give them a chance, they're all fun in their own way!

(Added bonus: the fundamentals you learn in one 3D FG will transfer in some way to another. I.e. VF helped me out in DOA, and DOA helped me out in Tekken, etc.).

As for 3D fighters emerging? Possibly. Tekken 7 had a crapton of hype and is being helped out by the release of Geese and now Noctis. It also helps that SFV faltered so much and NRS games lose momentum easily.

Jury's still out on how the FG will receive SCVI, though DOA5 did well for itself with DOA5U & DOA5LR in particular.

If it helps, I talked with Saint for a quick moment about DOA as he possibly looked interested while I was at FR. Tekken emerging as an E-League show was a big plus. And SC so far has been highly hyped, considering at FR people did ft30's and such. I think with all these factors, 3d's will start to emerge.

MvC fell off. Injustice is also falling off (Mainly for MK 11). The two biggest 2d's now are SF & DBFZ. SF mainly for the capcom pro tour and DBFZ since it's newer and more accessible. Then we have like Guilty Gear, BlazBlue & such. Not to say 2d's won't still be strong. But I think considering Tekken had the highest single game entries in FR and the SC hype, I think 3d's are emerging again.

Now just for VF & DOA to come through. Can't be Tekken/SC/Arms vs SF/DBFZ/MK/GG/BB/MvC/Inj/KoF But to DBomb's point, it does become Tekken v. DOA v. SC v. VF v. SF/DBFZ/MK/GG/BB/MvC/Inj/KoF.

You spoke to Saint about the game? besides that, did you guys sat down with him as he was there about the game? that's a good approach. Getting different players can be a good thing because he (in turn) can direct others about the game and then it spreads.

Briefly. He saw me playing Destructive as SonicFox was showing JDCR Injustice and asked if the game was DOA. I said yeah and he said it looks fun. I tried to see if he could play me but he had to focus on Tekken. But maybe another tournament.

The problem with the VF community is that they unfortunately dislike trying out other 3D fighters. If it isn't VF, it's not the right game.

Tekken's community is a pool of massive egos. If it isn't about rank or deathmatches, it's not important. Convincing them to try other 3D fighters and they'll debate to believe their game is superior.
DestructionBomb

DOA on the other hand, 90% of the community prefer to play picture mode with the game. DOAX didn't help which is suppose to be the safe haven for those who don't like playing the fighting game portion. All it really did was further indoctrinate players into thinkin it's not a true fighting game. Hell, there are more Ryona videos than gameplay/guide videos.

The only 3D fighter (based on just guesses and reading forum threads/post) seems to be SC, where it has players from Tekken, DOA, and VF that play the game. Seems to be the middle ground of it all despite hearing some issues here and there.

Try to get people like Saint one more time to try the game, only this time, stop trying to challenge these players. Sit down with players like that and show them the game approach.

"Oh you are interested? let me show you in training mode on how the game is". Boom, how hard is that?

That might be tricky... but I don't see why anyone with a pre-existing History with Fighting Games would say no.

I think the issue may be that each of the 4 major 3D fighter camps are in a bit of a defensive mode because of how underappreciated they feel their 3D fighter is. I.e VF players think their game is the best despite elements that turn off a more mainstream player; Tekken players commonly only play Tekken and think their game is the best because it's the only 3D fighter with any mainstream popularity;

DOA players have to stave off the crapton of stigmas attached to an otherwise deep fighter; and SC players scrounge around to find ways to let the FGC know that SC is still a relevant fighter.

Out of these 4, Tekken is the only franchise that has any sort of mainstream popularity whereas the other 3 are in a bit of an awkward niche spot.

With regards to SC, I feel that the problem started with SC3, which was exclusive to PS2 (big mistake), and seemed to focus more on offline content than actually being a balanced competitive fighter. SC4 also had questionable balance, silly guest characters, a crappy online netcode and a sliver of the content that SC3 (or SC2) possessed. And SC5 turned people off for a multitude of reasons.

Whenever people talk about SC, which SC do they remember? SCII of course! The best balanced 3D fighter between SC1-4 (SCV is arguably more "balanced"), with a awesome cast of characters, visuals, music and great offline content. With SCV, people just go on about what it did wrong: bad roster, lack of offline content, stupid story mode, no Step-G, smaller movesets, Viola, etc. Here's to hoping SCVI brings SC back!

Sounds like SC is no different than the other 3.

If its true Saint's interested, then someone for the love of god make the approach.

Good thing here is that if he got interested, attempted, and didn't like it, then that's ok. He put an effort to at least try.

Put Mr. Wah or me and I'll sit down with the guy about the game.
